how much protien? whats the deal...
Hi! My doctor recommends 60 grams per day but I would check with yours to see what he/she recommends. I use a whey Protein that has 23 grams per serving which I use in the morning. I seem to do better with a Protein shake in the morning because I'm a little tight before lunch. After that, I know I have almost half of what I need for the day so I concentrate on eating Proteins when I feel hungry during the day at lunch and dinner as well as Snacks. Good luck!

Need support and advice
Hey! Look at you - you've lost over 60 pounds in less than a year! So you took a little break, that's ok. You're entitled. Like everyone says, it's here when you want it and ready to work when you are. Maybe you need a fill to give you an extra boost? I know I always (ok usually) feel a rush of vigor after a fill (except during the holidays....). Keep up the great work and spend some time doing what you enjoy!

Requip and RLS
Hi! I have it and I find all the exercising I've been doing lately lessens the symptoms. I don't know if it's because I'm tiring out the muscles, etc or what but it does seem to help. I haven't filled my prescription yet because I'm not crazy about taking medicine if I can find an alternative method.

Are there any smokers out there (yuk I know it is bad)
Yes me. I'll probably get some heat for this but I continue to smoke. I personally can only deal with one DEVIL at a time. food. I know I should quit, I know it's not healthy and I know it's not good for the band. However, at this stage I believe working on my food consumption and exercise is where I have to concentrate my efforts right now. Now I did cut down before the surgery and after but got back to it as soon as I felt good enough. BTW - where is my lighter??? I need a smoke after talking about it so much...

Insurance woes
Hi! From what I've seen, it's the exception not to have problems with insurance companies. I was fortunate that mine covered all but $250.00 surgery fee and then covers my fills at $35.00 co-pay. I would call the insurance company and ask to speak to one of the supervisors to discuss what exactly they received from the doctor and if there was anything missing. Do as much homework as you can in terms of finding out what they need and require for coverage. You may also have to write a letter depending on what they say but make sure you get everything in writing so if at a later date you meet the requirements you have all the back up and proof you need. Good luck and keep plugging away at them!!!

Eat Before Fill?????
I usually go in the late morning for my fills so I intentionally eat light that morning and then be prepared for 24 hours of protein drinks. I just find it a little easier for me. Good luck!

Menstruating on Surgery Day?
Yep - happened to me. Got mine the morning of the surgery. I did the pillow-pad thing and there were not COOL netting underoos!!!??? I got jypped! Anyway, it went all ok and it wasn't the most embarassing moment of my life but it did rank in the top 10 events. Good luck!

PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!
OMG! First off, I want to say I'm sorry this happened to you and it is a terrible feeling. I usually go to liquids for at least the next meal after one of the Excrutiatingly Painful Gagging Sliming Heaving Feels Like You're About to Die Vomitation? (EPGSHFLYADV) episodes. EPGSHFLYADV has got to be added to the LBT dictionary. But I was laughing so hard at your poignant description of the episode I was crying and my family came in to see what happened! :clap2: I think this should be a sticky somewhere for all new bandsters. It has to be one of the best! Funny how they never covered that in the power point presentations - I don't remember it either. What I use it as is a reminder I am not doing what I should - chewing well, eating something I KNOW I shouldn't. The band for me was a gate keeper to keeping me on track. Subtly reminding me I can't be trusted to my own devices. A constant reminder I need to keep an eye on what I am doing. I know you don't want to hear it but the band is fickle. I notice during that special week in the month, mine tends to not like many foods since my last fill especially. It has a mind of it's own. I wish it would get on the same page as my head though..... Keep plugging along - you'll do great!

VanGaurd fills
Hi! I've got the "biggin" and from November to February I didn't lose a pound. Now that could have been because I didn't exercise, drink my Water, but did somehow manage to drink A LOT of another clear liquid - VODKA! After some very stressful weeks at work and the holidays, I got back on the wagon and got my 5th fill on February 9th. Been exercising 4-5 times a week and minding my band instructions. I have some restriction and I think I need just a little "tweak" more - maybe .25 or .5 cc. I've got another fill scheduled for March 27th. On my February fill my doctor (who I just love and is very supportive) told me if I didn't lose a good deal before the next fill he would and I quote "Close my band and sew my lips shut. Noone fails on his watch." I know he said it to give me the kick in the butt I needed and it worked. My anniversary is 4 weeks away and I definitely want to be over the 1 pound per week average so I hope to lose another 10 pounds before then.
