  1. i had the lapband 12/23/2008, and than i had my gastric bypass revision on 10/25/2011.i totally regretted the band instantly.fills/unfills.exercising more and harder than prior to the band. my doctor kept saying that i shouldn't have to work so hard to lose the weight.i was working out 5-6 days a week 1-2 hours a day. alot of things i could not eat or tolerate. a lot of things i had given up prior due tomy diabetes. the wt loss is slow. my dietician says because of the amount that i need to loose. yet i am still obese. So my journey is a very hard journey for me. being 50 years old and menapausal doesn't help at all.

  2. i am waiting also to see if my insurance coers mine. i have a date set for my surgery. while doing my set up. i was informed by the finance person that this time it is covered by my insurance. my psych eval have to be done over and my pre-labs is schduled for next week. everyone pray that my insurance covers this. OH WHAT A BLESSING THAT WILL BBB!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I have done my cardiac testing for the revision from the lapband to the bypass. I called my primary doctor's office and had them to fax my results to my surgeon.now i am waiting on them to contact me and set up my consultation with my surgeon.I am still a self pay.yes i wasted 20k, yes I am very unhappy with the results.but I know that this is my life and I need to be happy with me, credit card ready, here i come.hopefully this will bring me joy in that this is a major step in redefining me ang being satisfied with me.

  4. Yes I'm doing a two in one surgery and it should all be done lap, but you never really know until you wake up. Two and a bit more weeks to go and my band problems will be a thing of the past.

mine will be done laproscopic also, the removal and the bypass at the same time.hopefully i will be able to get rid of some of the fat deposit around my knees to alleviate some of the arthiritic pain in my knee, and come off the blood pressure medicine.I know that i am smaller but i still see the big me ( hippopotumus a$$) my arms are still really big I have to buy sizes14/16 because of my super thick upper arms. my pants because of my thick thighs , no pants usually fit me in the waist.

  5. Have anyone heard of anyone failing the gastric by pass.now i have seen a couple of people that have gained weight back, but they refuse to adhere to the the bypass. they want to eat what ever they want even at the rsik of being sick. My sister had the old gastric bypass with the incision down the abdomen. sha stays around140-150 pounds

I started out 5 years ago at 254lbs.started exercising ,1/2 hr the first week , than 1 hour for a month than 2 hours a day.went from a20/22 size to a 14 still at 211 lbs by the time i had the lapband done in december2008. my lowest has been 162lbs. had to have an unfill in may have gained 25 lbs.in a size 10/12. in the process of cardiac work up for bypass revision. again self pay i feel like a hugh failure. Now i am in the by any means necessary. i now have 50-60 lbs to goal wt bummer!!!!!

  7. Just an update to any who are reading...my surgery has been postponed a week. - Now August 1st. Hope it doesn't move again...I was psyched and ready, but it is what it is...another week to prepare. Going to the store today to stock the house on liquids.

I have to do a liquid diet two days pre-op and I go on Monday for all of my pre-op appointments. Hope everyone is doing well out there and begins posting.

    hey guys,

i went to ameeting, my first meeting with dr. wegner. he said that he doesat least 1 revision from band to bypass aweek because of what ever reason the patient is not satisfied or have complications from the band. and yes its done at once and laproscopic. i have an appointment with my medicine next month, i need an echo and stress test. I will still be a self pay. but thats what credit cards are for. I have not been satisfied for over a year and a half. i may as well be content with something about my life. RIGHT

  8. Well, had I answered you last week my answer would have been a little different. But this week I'm feeling pretty good! Most of my nausea is gone, and I'm tolerating "soft" foods better. I AM getting tired of eating the same 5-6 things day in and day out, though.

I'm the same way, with only getting in 2 or less ounces of food at a time. My biggest learning curve has been to not drink while or right after I eat. I really don't like the taste of food in my mouth after I eat, so I use a lot of breath mints or brush my teeth a lot now, since I can't "wash it down" anymore!

Do you drink much in the way of Protein drinks? I hate them, personally, but they've been my sole source of food some days when I just can't tolerate the idea of eating anything. I just ordered the sample packs of the nectar drinks I've heard people rave about, so I'll let you know what I think. :D

    Take care!!

no, have you tried the carnations instant Breakfast it has 14gms of protein.i had the lapband done 2&1/2 years ago and am considering revising to the bypass .i have had a long struggle.from 254lbs to 180lbs.i went as low as 162. emesis after a fill never at a sweet spot. exercising 1 to 2 hours a day 5 to 6 days a week. my dr. says i shouldn't have to work so hard. i work harder now than before i had the surgery. no bread, rice or Pasta, still very very hard road.now i am in the any mode necessary mode. feel me

  9. How are you doing? My recovery from the bypass was easy. I dare say easier than mine from my band. Only thing is I had an ulcer form on my bowel 6 weeks later, and start bleeding. It was because of adhesions. I lost 6 cms of my bowel because of it. They cleaned up what they could of adhesions, and I've been good since. Other than the Constipation. That is a big issue. But I don't eat much at all. Most days I can't even get two ounces of meat/food at a time. My body is often in starvation mode.

well my dog is yelling to go out. So I'll go now.

    teri

where are you from and how much weight have you lost.
