    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Hi other December sleevers! I'm sure everyone can hardly wait...I know I can't! I'm scheduled for dec 9th. I'm 39 and weigh 250ish (how sad I really don't even know). Good luck to everyone!

    contraceptive question

Since I had my last kid 17 years ago, I've always had the IUD. Only took it out when it was time to exchange it. It was slightly uncomfortable during insertion but nothing too terrible. And it felt like I had bad cramps the rest of the day. I love mine.

    REJECTED!

It's hurtful because you probably always wonder if this person would have liked you in your heavier body. It's sad that he can't seem to handle it and just say something nice! I know how you feel though. Previously I had Lapband and was pretty much normal weight. I was out with my then boyfriend. Him and another guy starting joking about these big girls at the bar. I was mortified. I told him after that was the size I used to be and it was very insensitive. I always think fat people are discriminated more than any other group!
  7. It's funny how everyone can have completely different experiences with the same operations. I was a little nervous about getting the sleeve (mostly because of the time I need for work). I've had Lapband, revision, removal, and gall bladder and all of them was super easy. Went grocery shopping when I came home. Hopefully I will feel this way with this one too.
  8. I have had 4 surgeries (3 related to Lapband and 1 gallbladder removal). All the scars were in the same place. Even with having surgery so many times, it faded so much that I hardly notice them.

    Coconut Oil

I like using it on my face at night. My daughter has been using it too and believe it or not it helped clear her acne. I was trying a spoonful a day but that didn't last long. I felt nauseated.
  10. I looked into it a little bit but must of those active suits I checked into weren't accepting new clients. Not only did I experience a lot of pain with Lapband but I had 2 additional surgeries to take care of it and mountains of medical bills. My insurance only covered my 2nd and 3rd surgeries at 50%.

Surgeon trying to talk me into band.

I know my answer will be biased but I was so completely miserable and sick with the band. I had 2 surgeries after I had it put in. I think I suffered needlessly for months. I have many personal friends that have had Lapband. Of the ones I know, they either had it removed due to complications or just haven't had much luck with weight loss. When I lost on Lapband I did lose quite a bit but I also worked out 5-6 days a week of very strenuous exercise. Either way I'm so anti-Lapband!!

    Band to sleeve success question....

It's so reassuring to read threads like this one. I had Lapband in 2009, revision surgery in 2010, then had it removed in 2012. I have since regained the 90 pounds I lost with the Lapband and just anxiously awaiting my sleeve!

    Sleevers by profession.

I work in social services/legal field and also do mental health rehabilitation on the side. I'm still pre-op at the moment.

    Hpn / In Las Vegas

I had HPN. It depends what "tier" you have. I had tier 1 and paid $3000 when I had my Lapband but when I had complications they only covered 50%. Needless to say, I'm still paying hospital bills ugh.

    Anyone living in Las Vegas

I had a TT before with Dr Brown (desert hills plastic surgery). I loved her. She was upfront about everything. Even tried to talk me out of one procedure I questioned. If I ever do anything in the future it would definitely be with her again.

    Las Vegas NV Sleevers!

Hi everyone...I'm in Vegas too. I am scheduled for the sleeve in Dec but have done WLS before with the band. Would love to have support from other locals.
  17. I'm in Las Vegas too...would like to know other locals who have had this. I'm scheduled in Dec. just trying to read up as much as I can!

    Body image/clothing issue

I remember once going into the clothing store and the plus size section. Then the girl that worked there said "I think you're in the wrong section. This is the plus size clothes" I guess it takes awhile before you see yourself differently.

I get sleeved in december! Yaaaa!

Aww congrats. I have mine scheduled for dec9. We can all be surgery buddies!
  20. I have been wondering the same thing. I had my band removed about a year and half ago. I have my sleeve scheduled in Dec. I did well with Lapband, losing 90 pounds in about 10 months but then it slipped and it was all down hill after that.
