I'm not much of a religious sort but this is so sad. I'm sending my best wishes, positive thoughts & my best shot at prayers that this will come together for you. Darn insurance companies.

Nah I'm not nervous at all, just excited, as far as I'm concerned I am going to be see the best surgeon I could have hoped for. His credentials are amazing and the others on this forum who have seen him have nothing but good things to say. My father decide he wanted to come with me so that's nice they've been very supportive through out this process

I have heard many ppl also suggest ear plugs, lip balm and an extension cord if you have possible need for one. :-) Good luck!

Say hi and state your date if you have it or your results if you're post op
I'm from Alberta, surgery date set for November 12th in TJ, Mexico with Dr. Ortiz at OCC! So excited! Though I start my liquid diet on Monday for 15 days so that's a bit intimidating!

Nov 6th, coming up fast!!! Been reading on here what to take..... Taking one baggy outfit, one pair of comfy shoes, bare minimum of toiletries, checking no baggage, just a very light carry-on bag.....doing the 2-week pre-op diet now to shrink the liver. Liking the chicken soup-flavored Protein powder, strawberry sorbet and chocolate powders by Unjury. Hope to meet some fellow sleevers soon!!

11-12-13 is my date to be sleeved. (i like this date b/c i like that the numbers are consecutive, dont mind me i am a freak lol) I am super excited! they offered me a few different dates ranging from the 12th all the way thru to decemeber but i took the first date as i have been on the preop diet for a while now. i lost 9lbs already and am so proud of my self.
I did Celebrate a little last night with something i wasnt supposed to have but it was one minor hiccup and not as bad as it sounds. i ate a can of black Beans with hot sauce and garlic. lol. back on track this morning though.
I cant believe after 6 months of weigh ins and countless other appointments i am only 18 days away from a new and healthy me!
The only song that keeps playing in my head is the riff to Europe's "The final countdown" (if you know it lol)
Any one else have a date of nov 12th?

dropdeadweightdiva got a reaction from HoosierGirl in How did you pick your "starting weight"?
I use my weight from my first bariatric clinic weigh in, which just happens to be my highest known weight. I say known, because I avoided the scale for a long time prior to that so who knows if I weighed more at one time. I always lost weight during my 3 pregnancies, but as soon as I was the only one digesting the calories, forget about it.

Change your mindset on fried foods, if u r going to have this procedure and thinking that u can have your fried foods again is counter productive, u need to change your lifestyle..focus on what is nutritious for your body otherwise you will sabotage your health journey.. I am not saying you will never eat a fried food again.. But changing your eating habits would be required to maintain your weight loss for the long run.

For me it was kind of like marriage. I told my self if I couldn't go a few weeks without cheating, I surely was not ready to make a lifetime commitment.

I've been lurking here for a while...but I'm ready to tell my story...
I'm successful. I'm very successful. I have a great career. Great husband. Great kids. Great life. I can buy what I want and do what I want to do. At the age of 35, I have accomplished more than anyone in my family can say they ever have or maybe ever will. But, I'm fat. I'm very fat. I have a great personality and I am smart. I can afford to buy my suits from the plus size section of Neiman Marcus or Nordstroms. I wear nice perfume and keep my hair gorgeous. So, I get away with being fat.
Everything I just mentioned above is from an external point of view. On the inside I am dying. I have no health issues related to my morbid obsesity just yet, but it is definitely impacting my life. Those fine suits I mentioned...I can't wear nice heels to match because my feet are too fat to fit. In fact, my feet are too fat to fit most shoes.I have to ask for a seat belt extender on airplanes. I fly weekly and am embarrased weekly. Bracelets don't fit either. Necklaces look like they are choking me. My fingers look like sausages and when I smile, my eyes looked closed.
At my daughter's pre-K graduation in June, I fell through the deck in which a reception was taking place.
I'm lucky that I haven't always been this way. I'm even luckier I won't always be.
Today, I received a date for my surgery. It will happen on Dec. 19th. I work for a hospital so the process has been quick, painless and free.
I look forward to your support throughout this journey and I look forward to returning the favor.

Remember when we were kids and would get a "do-over"? Well, this is your DO OVER! This is one of the only ways I know an adult can make up for all the things we missed out on - been humiliated by - had to suffer as a result of our weight.
Don't be disappointed in yourself. Celebrate the end of this chapter of your life and decide you are going to KICK ASS in the next chapter of your life! All the things you mention are going to make you work your sleeve like crazy to hit your goal. Then you can use these memories as the reason to STAY at goal.
I am not disappointed in you AT ALL...I am very impressed that you are taking charge of your weight! Hugs my friend.

Welcome! I applaud you for taking charge of your health at such a young age. I think that your age will be a good thing and bad thing. I think that being younger you have the opportunity to take charge and better yourself before a lot of damage is done. On the other hand being younger you will definitely deal with more peer pressure and difficult situations, such as drinking, that can in turn be detrimental. If you haven't already, create a list of the reasons why you are doing this, and those days when it feels too hard and you feel like giving up.... pull that sheet up and remind yourself, than march right back on here for help! I can't wait to follow your story!
