KeeWee reacted to sleeve 4 me in Aretha Franklin
In a two-part interview with 'Access Hollywood,' which airs tonight and tomorrow, though some of the quotes have already hit the 'Net, the 68-year old singer addressed the "crazy" rumors. "Definitely not -- and would not," Aretha exclaimed. "I heard that [rumor]. I said, 'That is crazy."
Aretha has yet to reveal the nature of the surgical procedure, and while she admits that it is likely her weight loss was a result of "the surgery that I had," she continues to scoff at the notion that she has received the controversial weight-loss surgery.
"It definitely was not the bariatric or, what is it, gastric by -- Yeah, I can't even tell you the correct name of it," she blustered. "It's really not necessary to talk about one's personal medical [health]."
I just saw this interview on Access and she did say she had surgery...hhhhmmmmmm could it be THE SLEEVE LOL???

She actually does NOT have cancer- that was the rumor that went around . She never confirmed it and if you really look on Google you will see she denied it totally and just says she had surgery that will add years to her life. The cancer thing took wings when she started losing so much weight after being in the hospital! I think it is pretty lame that she wont say what the truth is- she admits surgery that helped her health , denies the bypass, and wont say more. I am guessing lap band as well. She could do so much for people with morbid obesity. To deny it implies shame. Bummer.

She says, you should always ignore comments made in ignorance. If people don't know you had the surgery they will naturally think your sick or on drugs. She says WLS causes major changes and you can look completely different from month to month. She says don't be offended by their lack of experience with WLS results.
She says when they ask if you're sick, you should ask if they're stupid...well, they're both equally disturbing questions....I "mskeekee01" disagree with this statement..

Thanks...me too!! She's keeping me grounded because I have experienced really strong negativity. I was extremely surprised. I thought someone would have related to my happiness but most just said..You don't need it, you can work that off....most don't believe I weigh as much as I say but I just carry it well.
My mom says enough for me to shake them off easily, I told her she's great motivation. She helps me focus on me being healthy and happy and her advice to anyone who doesn't like me changing my life for the better is to tell them..."Kick rocks, you don't pay my insurance!!!!!!" Gotta love her...lol

Haha! My new obsession is taking pics of myself. I don't annoy others with my photos, they are for my own enjoyment. I was just thinking this morning about how I've spent my entire life hating how I look and all of a sudden, I finally see myself as beautiful. All these changes are blessings. Congratulations!

Oddly enough, some people have considered me quite annoying in the past. I have no idea why as I am pretty darn close to perfection. That said, my sleeve has has taught me some really cool tricks that seem to get on the nerves of my family, for reasons I just cannot fathom.
First, they seem to barely tolerate my habit of hopping on and off my scale 5-10 times several times a day and shouting out, "Now I've lost 2 ounces, now I've gained 4 ounces, this time I am down 3, ooops, now I am up 4!!!" or whatever my undecisive scale seems to want to weigh me at. Instead of getting a new, more accurate scale, I consider this step exercise and the freedom to choose my weight for the day. They are especially unamused at my insistence of telling them how much a "movement" might have weighed if I am lucky enough to have one.
My second bad habit is stalking strangers through the store, staring at their arses, and asking whomever with me if mine is as big/small/round/high/perky/droopy as whomever my current victim's might be. One kid finds it creepy, the other (who obviously loves me more) is much more helpful but often runs around to look at my arse then the other person's causing me to wonder if anyone might be noting this strange behavior. Mr.Lipstick has taken to asking me if I care if he checks out the hot blonde/brunette/random Hooter girl/etc. instead of the middle aged mom that much more resembles my persona.
My newest habit is picking up random pairs of pants at home or the store and and exclaiming, "LOOK! LOOK! LOOK!! Can you believe that MY ASS fits in these??!!?!?!!! THEY LOOK SO SMALLLLLLL!! I must go try them on right now just to make sure." as if my ass suddenly grew six inches since taking off said pants 5 minutes ago.
I constantly amaze myself. Every single day. I love this sleeve.

I was at a luncheon and I had a lady comment on how much I've lost and then ask if I was losing on purpose. I laughed a bit and told her that I was absolutely losing it on purpose. She then paused, looked at me again and asked if I MEANT to lose weight. (B*tch, please. I was 264 pounds at 5'3". YES. I MEANT to lose weight.)
About ten minutes later, she interrupted my conversation to ask me AGAIN if I was intentionally losing weight. I looked at her, told her that I did NOT have cancer, I did not have a thyroid disorder, I did not have HIV, Addison's, Diabetes, etc. I told her I was sick and tired of being fat and I was LOSING WEIGHT ON PURPOSE and that she could reword her question in any way she wanted, my answer was not going to change.
Shut her up for the rest of the afternoon.

Yes, that is true, it's good to just enjoy the conversation and the company. I would usually sit down and grab the menu in the same instance. Then count the minutes until the food arrives. I would drink so much I could only eat half my food anyway and then eat so quickly that I would be done and asking for a to go bag before anyone else even made a dent in their plate....
I'm so looking forward to these changes and as I can see, the complications experienced are truly patient specific but still always outweighed by the successes I've heard.

I'm not QUITE free, but Im getting so close! Im still having occasional cravings, and have given in at times. The huge difference for me, eating has become a chore mostly. Im not excited to eat like I was Pre surgery. I don't go to bed thinking about what I'll eat for Breakfast tomorrow. I have absolutely NO problem in stopping when I feel that satisfied feeling. Even if I didn't get to whatever starch/carb on my plate, it can sit there untouched.
My family went out to eat recently. The husband and son got an appetizer, salads, plus their meals. I took one bite if the cheese stick and realized I did it out of habit, not hunger. I immediately gave the stick to my son. I sat there and looked at all the food and laughed at how I used to think that table full of food was great. Now, it almost turns my stomach. Im loving my restrictive sleeve

It is so worth it! It's difficult at first and takes a lot of time to adjust...I'm still adjusting after 3 months. But, I would do it all over again!

AS I sat the other day,in the car on a road trip, and watched my 6 foot tall girlfriend eat a basket of popeyes chicken, biscuit, and fries, I was really amazed at my changed feelings for food. I was grossed out by the huge amount she consumed. I watched her chew her way through onion rings fries and a double cheeseburger, and wanted to gag. I actually ate less after seeing her eat. What a refreashing change in attitude as before we would each get a large fry, eat onion rings and finish with a milkshake. Now it makes me feel sick, just to watch her. I hope this continues. I must confess I tried 2 satisfries at BK did not want more. Nice but not needed.

I love these two things you said in your post! I do crave food still but I love the control that I have now. I enjoy what I can eat and I try to make the best out of each meal since I can't eat huge quantities. When I go out with friends or family, I'm no longer in such a rush to get my food and to drink as much as possible. I like to sit back and really think about what I can or want to eat. When the food arrives, I like to take my time. I will eat even slower than usual and I just enjoy the experience so much more than in the past. When I think back to how much I could eat and how full and uncomfortable I felt after eating out, I just can't believe how different it is now! And, I LOVE that I save so much $ on food and eating out!

Oh yes, my husband and I joke all the time about how things will change. He says I will now be a cheap date since I will eat less of my meal then I won't desire desert. Then with shopping how my clothes will then be normal sized which means we don't have to pay extra $$$ for the 2x clothes. Also how I plan to make fun workouts my hobby instead of shopping...he's completely elated by this...lol.
Looking forward to all this change and for him best of all is I will finally move back to his hometown in California, which was never an option at 280lbs...all that sun, heat, beaches and skinny people would've driven me nuts..lmao, but now...it's in the plans 6 months after I meet my personal goals!! God is GOOD!!
