  1. Source of Life Liquid Gold (bought on Amazon) i what I used. Recommended by a pharmacist friend who is 87 and looks far healthier than me. He said it was all I needed. It has 100 mcg. Biotin, but I took additional Biotin for the hair (still lost hair). I have added I compared the ingredients to Bariatric Advantage Multivitamins I bought, and Source of Life had more Vitamins by far. Two teaspoons a day, and a 30 oz. bottle lasted about 3 months. I think you can look at the supplement facts online and compare.

    I have taken every Vitamin and I took Biotin religiously from 1 month pre-surgery to now, 8 months later. I think it is pure luck whether or not you lose. I googled bariatric surgery/losing hair and just read what I could find.

  5. I craved spicy. Chili was awesome, even a couple tablespoons. Refried Beans topped with Taco Bell sauce was yummy. I had no problem with spicy. Heart healthy Soup, pureed with a blender, with added refried beans for Protein, was good.

    I would just recommend that you search on BP and the internet for information on these doctors in Mexico and be thoroughly informed before you select one. Best wishes!

    Just keep reading Makes notes. Most every surgeon, NUT, patient, pre and post op plan, and insurance is different. You might get confused. Just muddle through. I was in the hospital 24 hours and needed nothing except a short robe for little walks in the hall. You sleep. You won't want to FB or read the internet. I hated Crystal Light Peach Tea before surgery now I love it. We like Premier Protein Shakes (chocolate) the best. Two weeks after surgery you might eat 2 tsp. refried Beans (with taco sauce) and be full. FF Soups are the go-to meals. 3-4 weeks out lowfat turkey chili soothed my craving for spicy, maybe 1/2 cup eaten in an hour. We are 8 months out and can eat more now. Beware of a constipation problem and discuss with someone, or research here. Hide the scale and do not weigh 3x a day lol! Best of luck, Linda

    And you Mick. Have you been sleeved? My husband is down from 320 to 220 in 8 months and is delightfully happy. He will never be extremely healthy but life sure is better. Best of luck!

    Do not stock up on anything. I have a pantry full of junk I never used. I was in the grocery 2 days after surgery and the mall 5 days later. You can have anything shipped by Amazon. I never pureed anything. I used a blender for shakes only and we went to the cartons of Premier Protein after surgery. Bought a bunch of them and was told at 3 months to come off them. Just do not buy in bulk. You can buy unflavored Protein powder but even that is sitting in my pantry. We eat a lot of fish, salmon, tuna and chicken. Deli (not packaged) low-sodium turkey for rollup Snacks is good. Our favorite food from 2-6 weeks was lowfat chili I made, or refried Beans topped with salsa (about 2 teaspoons lol). Right after surgery you know the drill I am sure. I bought the unjury chicken Soup powder, but since it was winter and I love HOT soup, I hated this. The powder clumps in really hot Water.     65 and over

    8 months post sleeve and my husband has lost 100 lbs. I stopped losing at 60 lbs but I feel fabulous and look as good as I ever want to look. I just bought a yoga and exercise dvd. Life is better than ever.

    I just started a regimen of Bragg's vinegar every day. Mix 1-2 Tbsp. with 1/2 cup organic apple juice, Water and 1 tsp. honey. (alkaline to protect the stomach from too much acid). I have been interested in the vinegar (not regular vinegar) for man years. Finally bought the book.

    I thread for me leads to other thoughts for topics. The older I get the more I want to get away from horrible drugs that make me sick. For years I have watched and read the books of Dr. Andrew Weil on natural healing. I came across this recently on FB, where a cousin across the US said this remedy cured her leg cramps, so I thought I would start with this post. Please share your recommendations too! "I have fibromyalgia and lupus and for 25 years I have suffered with leg cramps [not at all related to the fibro] and when I get cold it is worse. I heard about the mustard and wow, it works within minutes. Thankyou thankyou thankyou. This has allowed me to live a little more normal a life. YES I carry mustard packs with me every where. I can't stress my muscles at all though or a spasm WILL occur ; so no walking or running for me Gods speed for the knowledge of this to get out there. Oh I also get them in my back stomach and throat the throat is really scary when that one happens. THANK GOD FOR MUSTARD!!!! m.b. | May 7, 2014 1:35 AM | Reply A friend told me she takes a spoonful of mustard for muscle cramps. I thought it sounded goofy. Last night I got a really awful cramp in my leg. I tried massaging it, walking around, which usually works, but nothing helped. I went to the fridge in desperation and squeezed out a small spoonful of ordinary mustard (not even dijon) from the 99cent store. In seconds the pain vanished, almost before I finished swallowing. I am still dumbfounded by the experience. It makes no sense to me. But it worked.

    LadyK44 I am so sorry. My daughter has become heart healthy since my son died of a heart attack, my mother, and her dad had a heart attack at 44. Heart attacks are so prevalent and I am so sorry for your losses. I hope your new body/resolve to get healthy will make a difference in your life. We have to keep moving or the grief will destroy us. I have to push myself every day. Get out there and start living. God Bless!

    Raw Vegetables

    At 3 months our NUT told us to start trying veggies/salads. I found we tolerated salads and coleslaw very well. I can eat raw cucumbers, tomato, zucchini, scallions, bell pepper and celery. I won't eat carrots except to nibble slowly or steam them. Other foods such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, I steam. One of my favorite veggies is fresh green Beans (about 2 cups, tossed with 1 TBSP. of EVOO, sea salt and pepper, and baked about 20 minutes on a baking sheet at 400 degrees. They start to brown and take them out. They are tasty. I even like them cold from the fridge as a snack. Good luck!

    Chocking risk

    I had one problem because at 4 weeks after surgery I did not chew a small piece of chicken enough. The bit of chicken seemed to lodge mid chest but passed in moments. Just scared me to death. My husband still eats very slow but I still have a problem slowing down enough. You will not have any problem if you eat slowly and chew well. Good luck!

    I too try to focus on the good memories, Pik. That is the only way to cope sometimes. I remember after my sister died, her daughters were more devastated than I could possibly be. About a year after she died, one daughter said "Mama was at my house last night in my dreams". I laughed and said noooo, she was with me. Thank God for sweet memories. Thank God we can still laugh!

    Haha, yes about damn time. Everything is a distant memory, the shakes, the headache for a few days (?dehydration), and 8 months out my husband has lost 100 lbs and me, 60 lbs, with little effort and no exercise. Wish we could exercise. My lifesaver is my sweet wig. 5-8 months my thin and fine blonde hair is pitiful. Best advice I can give you is be prepared. You can always donate it to Hospice if you don't need it. I cleaned closets and drawers to occupy my mind pre-surgery! God Bless!

    I recommend no sugar, soda, carbohydrates. If you don't know about lean Proteins can you google them and keep a notebook - writing down foods and recipes of things you should do, foods you should eat. FF refried Beans is one thing, topped with fat free cheese. Also, black beans, garbanzo beans, and lentils. Please ask any questions. You will get different answers but you figure out what you can buy where you are and adapt. Yogurt is good, just the least sugar/fruit. Cottage cheese (fat free) is good. Lean chicken, fish, turkey (not packaged lunchmeat). I hope someone hear can post a lot more for you. Best wishes. Also, if you can find Protein powder you can add it to Soups.

    Woohoo Ann! Good luck! You have had to wait a little and that is not a bad thing. As you wait, you learn more! I am just realize I am not really on track at 8 months out. I have to get busy! Do not think I am getting enough Protein in as I am still in diet mode (the NUT told me I was doing too much protein at 3 months). This really is a process that is wonderful though!

    Where were you sleeved? What are you eating? Perhaps you can order Alex Brecher's new book, "The Big Book on Bariatric Surgery." I am reading it now and it has so much information I really needed. Good luck. I hope we can help you.
