Wearing a swimsuit - in a public place!

Just reading the post put the vision of loveliness in my mind. So happy for you! I am almost 68 and just feel fabulous. 52 is a BEAUTIFUL age, I remember! May love and happiness follow your every move!

    FL - Jacksonville

There is also a cafe in St. Vincent's Riverside location. I haven't eaten there, but they serve soup, and it always smells AMAZING when I pass by on the way to my appts. My hubby and mom ate there the day I had my surgery, and both agreed it was really good. So that might also be an option, and they have something for every stage of postop eating. I just hate that people will have to pay for parking to meet there. I know it's only $2 but still.... How about Sat June 14th or the 28th? After we get established I would like to set up a meeting/outing on the first Sat one month and get together at the Cummer Art Museum. It's free the first Sat of the month and I think sitting in the garden would be perfect when the weather cools off. We can have our meeting in a beautiful spot, and afterwards those that want to can explore the indoor Art exibits together. A good way to develop friendships. I have been out of town a few days. I missed seeing that June 14 date above, and now see you posted June 28. I am available Saturday June 28 if we can try to get together then. Is anyone else available?

    need advice - outpatient sleeve

Any surgery is scary, but this will be behind you before you know it, and then you will be so busy figuring out what and how to eat again as you adjust. Relax and daydream about the new life you are going to have! A big hug, Linda

    Discouraged and Heartbroken.

Lisa, God's Grace as you struggle to get through the loss of your love. We all have lost loved ones, but we all know that we can't, take away your terrible pain and heartbreak, it is a long and slow process until you find a way to go on in life, and see the sunshine and sunsets again. I can hardly bear to look at my 30 y/o son's picture, from 7 years ago when he died. I cope, but the pain will forever be in my heart and soul. I am glad that you were able to find that special love in your life. Prayers for you. Linda

    How's your arthritus?

Best wishes everyone, have to keep counting our blessings! Linda
  6. Since we are warned not to put hard candy/cough drops in our mouth, I would not recommend them. At 5 weeks post op I had a small piece of chicken stuck mid chest that caused tremendous pain, so the worry would be if you inadvertently swallowed the cough drop. Personally I would mix a teaspoon of whiskey, honey and lemon juice which is an ancient remedy for a cough.

    need advice - outpatient sleeve

I had surgery 3pm and was released the next morning, so pretty much less than 24 hours. I am 67. My husband and I were walking in the hospital. We took 1 pain pill at home after surgery as we had no pain, just a little discomfort. You have to have any meds approved prior to surgery so do not be dosing up without approval. This sleeve was 10 times easier than we expected, we hardly felt we had surgery. A loose dress would be perfect for the ride home as there will be a little discomfort at your navel. Honesty you won't need much of anything. Just some TLC. Best wishes!

How soon did you return to work?

I am 67 and I walked and shopped at a mall about 5 days after surgery, for about 4 hours. I felt great. Also, I took one pain pill at home after 24 hours in the hospital. Being at home requires work, lol, like laundry, picking up things, and I will caution you not to lift anything as you will be told. I had pain about 24 hours about 2 weeks postop when I lifted something. I honestly never felt like I had surgery. Some people have more problems, so be kind to yourself and listen to your body. Best of luck!

    Calling All Sixties!

I have been Diet Coke free for almost a year now and counting my blessings. For years I was so addicted and knew it was not good for my health. I trust the people who advise not going back on soda. I am just happy I have no desire for them anymore.

well I told my parents..didn't go well

Do this for yourself Countrygirl. I will be 68 in August and having the sleeve has made such a difference in the life of me and my husband. He has lost 90 lbs after being the fat boy all his life. Don't wait until you have all the terrible health problems to begin trying to get healthy like we did. This is the best thing we ever did in life! We are finally LIVING. Best of luck! Linda

BM problems at 4 1/2 weeks out

None of the recommended products helped me much. Add some veggies to your diet and yo will get regular again. You can steam many things to a soft consistency, spinach, zucchini, cabbage, yellow squash, etc. Once I added veggies my problems ceased.

    FRUSTRATED Grocery shopper..

I found the Bariatric Advantage shakes too milky tasting (I detest milk). My husband preferred them. Thank goodness there are lots of options.

    FRUSTRATED Grocery shopper..

Look for the yogurt that has 13 grams or less sugar. I buy one that has 9 grams of sugar per my NUT. Walmart has EAS protein powder that was allowed, in vanilla only. I add Torani sugar free flavored syrups or Crystal Light powder to change it up. Torani syrups come in chocolate, hazelnut, salted caramel, raspberry, gingerbread, etc. and are sold at World Market, Amazon or the coffee section of the grocery store. We found Premier shakes at Sam's Club, but 3 months post op were told to stop the shakes. Now I have 3 cases of shakes sitting here. I learned not to stock up. Use this time of healing to experience new things at the grocery store, walking slow and reading labels. Make sure you always eat before you go to the store, it will keep you from spending extra money I have learned.

Anybody else tired of the attention?

We kept our WLS to ourselves and have been "dieting". We are very private about our life. One neighbor we socialize with gushes on and on when we are with a large group of people and I can only imagine if we had told her we had surgery how she would have been discussing our surgery. Thank God she doesn't know. Same thing with another group of friends. It gets old just having them talk about our weight loss. We do not like the attention one bit. The neighbor is funny at times, she will say, oh you cannot have this or that because you are dieting LOL.

    Getting Started

Our first seminar on WLS was well over 10 years ago. I feel if the sleeve had been around then it would have added years to my husband's life. But he is a 67 y/o new man now. Still has lots of health problems, but has lost 90 lbs since November 2013. We are no longer sitting on the sofa with no life. Just got back from a 7 day cruise. The sleeve has changed our lives completely. Go for it!
  17. Weird K33 but I am experiencing the sensitivity issue also.....Things bother me terribly now. The tears flow like never before. I do not like this part of it LOL.

    How's your arthritus?

Yes, you are right about the dosage above. I am now without gout pain 6 weeks straight thanks to the herbal remedies, and am told I can cut down on the pills. I will keep taking them though since (cut the dosage in half) as I do not want that pain again. Just got back from a 7 day cruise and wow, I can walk! I hope you can find relief!

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...

The hair started falling out mid April, and still coming out. I have very fine thin hair but I am coping. I am perfectly happy if I never lose another pound. It has been wonderful for me and my husband.
