    Dreaded 3 week stall!

My recommendation is not to focus on a 3 week stall because there will be more stalls. The weight won't fly out there somewhere. When the scale did not move my clothes were falling off. Focus on your plan, Protein, meals, exercise. Stalls are a waste of time and energy to worry about. They come and they go. Best wishes. Linda

Why are some weight loss surgery patients so clueless?

This is why Bariatric Pal is so good for us all. We WILL find help and answers here. We all have good and bad days. But the hope for us all is that everyone goes into the surgery being informed, knowing what to ask, knowing what to expect, knowing what to do. Knowing that for any negative post there will be 100 helpful ones. We had a surgery team that was amazing, probably 10 people total, all part of the same Bariatric Team, coordinated by one person. It was absolutely amazing. The NUT sees you pre-surgery, and post surgery surgery about your nutrition and eating habits. All this is part of the surgery, no extra charges. I would recommend finding the largest city in your area and looking for people who had bariatric surgery there, and find out their experience with that bariatric team prior to committing to any surgeon. Good luck everyone. Linda
  4. Yes Jane, that is what prompted me to start this thread. "House" is unthinkable. I bet you are gorgeous. We couldn't change our childhood, but we sure changed our destiny didn't we? Love, Fat Gal -- LOL
  5. Well I hope sharing these good and bad stories, might help us with our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends, to teach children never to call names. The hurt lasts a lifetime. But this is a celebration to laugh at the stupidity of people labeling us as children, I hope. Maybe this name calling will cease with our younger generation, as they see how it affected us all our lives.
  6. 1. I can sleep at night without worrying my husband will be unconscious during the night when his blood sugar dropped to 40. 2. I got a kayak for my birthday this month instead of a new recliner. 3. I went to NOLA for 7 days last week and walked more than I have in 3 years. Blessed!
  7. At 10 months I can eat anything I want to. My husband also. I only wish I could not eat everything. It takes will and determination now.

    65 and over

This time will fly! That is a little over a month. Promise me you will not overbuy. I still have so much junk in this house I never used, Protein powders, liquid shakes, FF Soups, unjury Soup and powder, etc. Was told to stop the shakes at 3 months, that I was eating too much protein. I went to the grocery store 2 days after the sleeve so you will not be laid up I promise. You can also shop online at Amazon for things, and vitacost for Vitamins. We never told anyone except our daughter about the surgery. We had slow weight loss, my husband and I, and just said the truth, we were eating healthy to get healthy. Best wishes.
  9. We have risen above these stupid nicknames lol!

    65 and over

Welcome! There are a lot of people here in the 60s and 70s. I am 68 and loving life 100% more than ever. The difference in my life in one year is amazing! Best wishes!
  11. As a teenager in the 50s-60s, my maiden name was Dabbs. Most of you are too young. But I was furious to hear "A lil dab'll do ya!" (Brylcream).
  12. I was married to an abuser 4 hard years of my life. I understand this. He ridiculed me, sneered at the way I looked, Sometimes a few words like this bring it back. Emotional and verbal abuse is worse than physical, I was told. I am laughing now, but it took a long time of healing. I hope you have healed and are laughing now thesuse2000. God Bless.
  13. Maybe some of these names will not be so funny, BUT I hope that everyone can now laugh and say KMTLB (kiss my tiny little butt).

    Advil

Any parent with a loved one in the military today must be awesomely proud! My dad and his brother were at Ft. Benning during WWII. It will definitely make you sweat to be in Georgia. I promise. God Bless you, your son, and your family.
  15. Hilarious! "House"? That is terrible, but you showed your brother!

    Advil

Congratulations and best wishes! I don't know about the meds but maybe you should ask your doctor. Where are you going in Georgia? I am guessing Ft. Stewart or Ft. Benning?
  17. LOL. A biggie for me today. I went in the front yard in a bathing suit (trimmed hedges). I did not bend down when cars went by. I just kept working! Maybe we can add more positivity things today that are FUNNY! But keep adding the positivity. We are so much alike, all of us. Or most of us anyway.

    Advil

Sleeved, and surgeon said nothing but Tylenol. Bummer, because Advil is the only thing that ever helped me with pain. But I still will do as told.
  19. That must be awful! I hope there is relief. Best wishes!
  20. Love these posts! Makes me feel good for everyone!
  21. I am no longer gasping for breath and using asthma inhalers.........I get the coughing part especially! YAY!!!!! I am still on some meds and size 4 jeans will never cover my butt, but, its wonderful anyway, right? LOL!

When does the hair loss stop?

I was sleeved 11/18/13. hair loss started at 5 months, and still coming out. I am dealing with it. I lost hair around my face, and it thinned so much all over I had to cut my shoulder length hair short. My hair was very thin anyway. Biotin hmmmm I don't know what it does, but it does not prevent hair loss and it sure hasn't helped with re-growth. I hope you and many others don't suffer the hair loss. I have a beautiful wig that is my best friend. Good luck!
  23. I am not sure how you know it is spasms from the hernia. My husband and I were both sleeved and had hiatal hernias repaired and no pain. Please call your surgeon's office and tell them your symptoms. There might be a medicine you should be on to stop the pain and spasms. I am so sorry you are feeling bad, but better to be safe about it. We pay these doctors lots of money. Call please. Feel better soon!
