I have Pernicious Anemia and have always been a bruiser but it does seem that post-op I get a lot more bruises. I'm getting them much more now with my young kids using me as jungle gym but I still get them with no idea how.

I'm in. Maybe I'll actually lose some weight this time.

At 4 days your not going to be able to get much Protein down. It's more important to be getting Water in so that you don't get dehydrated.

Vitamins are making me sick
Busymomof3 replied to rbtnln's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would suggest taking your Vitamins right before bedtime. I have to take mine at night because my morning meds are counteracted by vitamins. That way I sleep through any discomfort. I did have to find which vitamins wouldn't make me sick. the sublingual b12 is no problem for me as are the Biotin and Vitamin D. I still take viactiv calcium which is a treat for me and I've found that Flintstones complete don't make me sick. -
Anemic before Gastric Sleeve
Busymomof3 replied to Cutepretty1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had pernicious anemia for years before surgery and it hasn't affected anything. My Iron levels will always be low no matter what I do for the rest of my life. -
I meant the endoscopy. I had a 10 day liquid pre-op diet and I understand the shrinking the liver piece but I don't understand the endoscopy.

I am so thankful that I did not have to do this. I wonder why they make you do it?

Quest bars are Poo Bombs
Busymomof3 replied to 2Big2Skate's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I'm absolutely addicted to them and no one pays me to say that. There are some flavors that I don't care for, but I happen to love the texture. I agree that chocolate brownie is good but my favorites are the cookie dough, vanilla almond crunch and the new cookies and cream. To me they are better than a snickers bar and there's no guilt after eating one. -

Feeling Light headed

I have low blood pressure too and occasionally get dizzy. I attribute it to the low blood pressure. -

Busymomof3 replied to slvrsax's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
OMG, I just ordered a case of the Cookies and cream and I LOVE THEM. They do taste exactly like an oreo. It will be difficult not to eat these like I used to eat candy bars. -
Yes, I get my premier Protein shakes from costco. they have chocolate and vanilla 11 oz size and I think they are 30g protein.

I had the Mirena put in this morning. It hurt going in quite a bit, especially when the doctor was taking a measurement, but it only lasted a minute and I got through it with some deep breathing. I felt a little crampy for 5 minutes and after that I can no longer tell that anything was done. Let's hope it stays this way.
-
So I'll be getting the Mirena IUD soon and I'm worried that it's going to be very painful. I've only known two people who've had them- one has had children and the other hasn't. Both of them have said that it was very painful and they had to take a few days off of work. I don't have very much vacation time left and I don't want to take any days off. My doctor told me that it can be more painful for women who haven't had children vaginally. Does anyone have any experience getting a Mirena inserted that wasn't painful? Thank you!!
-
Thank you for all the responses. I'll be getting the Mirena put in tomorrow so this has been helpful. It seems from the responses that there is a 50/50 split on whether it will be really painful or no problem at all. My doctor's office does them on day 3-5 of your period so hopefully that will help. I'll report in tomorrow on how it went for me in case anyone wants to know.

You'll want to check on your employer's policies on FMLA. I used FMLA but had to have been working for the company for a certain amount of time before it applied.

My husband gave me a gift card for Victoria's Secret for Valentines' Day. This is the first time I've ever been able to shop there.

I'm at 161 today. Missed my goal by 1 but incredibly happy with the progress.
