Anyone Start Taking Full-Sized Vitamins Again?
fat_free replied to Andrew0929's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I switched from chewables to regular vitamins at 6 weeks. I couldn't stand the taste any more. My dr was fine with it and I've not experienced any issues. Even the calcium citrate pills which are massive are not an issue. -

Yup, pretty much followed the water in water out rule for awhile but honestly, preferred the runs to the constipation that followed once solids were introduced :{ -

Judgement issues over low BMI
fat_free replied to Zane's Mom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No judgement what so ever. In fact, you are the stronger one for taking the bull by the horns and dealing with your weight early on instead of waiting till you were 100+ lbs overweight. It is a terrible tragedy that you lost your son in such a senseless crime. My heart goes out to you. -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
fat_free replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was diagnosed with the beginnings of fatty liver, ovarian cysts, thickened uterus wall and arthritis in my spine...all having something to do with my weight! Plus I couldn't take my ever increasing size. Best decision I ever decided to pursue -
Hmmm I'm game!

You know you lost weight when
fat_free replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You know you have lost weight when....you go to reach for a towel to dry your hands and your ring goes flying off! Tried to tell my husband it was time for a new bigger ring in a smaller size and he didn't go for it....stuck with resizing. -
That happened to me yesterday for the first time as well. Was very light headed and dizzy, at the end of the day at the office. Realized then that I had not eaten since 7am. I wasn't hungry but obviously my body was telling me something. I also hadn't had time to drink much Water either so the combined effect wasn't great. At least I had my lunch in the fridge so had that before heading off home. Amazing, because pre surgery I would have been starving

That is the video I was noting as well!

Freakin' Fecal Test - Warning, Rant Ahead
fat_free replied to HaddocksEyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is worth it. Seven years ago my sister was sent for a colonoscopy as she had turned fifty and it was one of her doctors standard 50yr old check up tests. Well, they found a large tumour in her colon and removed 18 inches and she went through chemo and is now in remission but has to have a colonoscopy every year. Needless to say we were all told to go get checked - turns out I too had exactly the same types of tumours growing - villainous adenomas (sp?). They are long and flat -zero symptoms and take about ten years to mature and become cancerous and could eventually kill you. So I went yearly until I had no new ones and now go every 3 years. So the long and the short of this is - I never would have known with out the preventative scope and I likely wouldn't be able to enjoy my new found life as a post op sleeve patient. I would do it monthly if I had too. It's not fun, I don't look forward to it by any means BUT it may save your life. Now this is really only my experience but I wanted to share with you why I would do it in a heart beat. Take care -
Gas and constipation
fat_free replied to tattoogirl233's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OMG live this so much but seem to be getting it under control now. Lots and lots of Water - try to disburse this through out the day for the most effect. Fibre boosters in my morning shake (I use Arbonne fibre boost -12gms of fibre per scoop but you can use what ever fibre you like) I also have a Quest bar (17-18gms of fibre per bar - yet low carb and little to no sugar) and a probiotic yogurt I have these all daily ...but I still only *go* every 3/4 days. Better than 7+ days though! Hope things get *moving* for you soon -
lied about my surgery :/
fat_free replied to Amarie812's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My note only said that I had to be off for a certain period of time and did not even say I had surgery. I do not believe they need anything more than that but you should check with your HR dept -
I had nausea for almost 6 weeks BUT that is typical of me after any surgery and during pregnancies etc so not entirely unexpected for me.

Wait, I am distracted by lipsticks lady sparkly new lips!

What would you change?
fat_free replied to Bring It On's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really haven't seen much of the placating but I would be worried about all of the fold causing food to get trapped early on. I love my sleeve and wouldn't change it for any of the other surgeries as it was the correct type for me. I agree with you that the way the puli action is done there really isn't any use for the excess stomach so why have it in there. Seems that it might be more worrisome down the road. However, that is really my own two cents. -
I'm Losing My Mind !!! Any Albertans out there with VSG?
fat_free replied to chunk's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went through the Weight Wise prog in Edmonton and was sleeved on May 14th. Couldn't be happier. I am in Edmonton -
Same here! Life gets so much better day by day.

I watched a video (on YouTube I think) that showed some food in a funnel. They poured a few tablespoons of liquid and the food started to go through the funnel, a bit more Water and the food moved faster a bit more and all of the food left the funnel. That video has stuck with me and really makes me think before drinking at the same time as eating. The sleeve makes us feel full for longer but if you drink and eat you will loose that effect. So it's not about that we are not able to drink and eat at the same time but that we really should not if we want our tool to work. Yogurt is also a slider food for me. I really do not get full from it. So I use it as a snack, measure it and record it on MFP Just some thoughts to ponder

Excellent! I am going to try this

Cookies & Cream Quest Bars
fat_free replied to slvrsax's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love theses bars. They are very hard to find in stores here, but I found that I can order them on body builders dot com for way cheaper than I can purchase them in the store for plus the shipping is cheap and fast (yup even to Canada) -
Sometimes I am so jealous of those who live in the USA. You all seem to have access to so many more products than we can find in Canada. I am headed to Phoenix and San Francisco in Sept and plan on stocking up on as many products as I can.
