magtart replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Artichokes are somewhat fibrous which can be an issue. -
I'm so very sorry for your loss. Having lost my first husband to a sudden illness, I know how devasting it can be. Please take care of yourself.

Couple of food and timeframe questions
magtart replied to BabySheldon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate some pistachios today. I chewed them up to a paste and tired myself out chewing so much so I ate no more than a tablespoon or so shelled. That and a Protein shake was my lunch. -

Yum....what kind of dressing? Shel Ranch or Catalina. -
Are you asking if the sleeve would be a more viable alternative? If so, only your doctor would able to answer that question. Actually, the surgeon's office has infinite experience in dealing with the insurance companies. They may be able to go to bat for you to have the sleeve if it is in your best interest health wise.

Yep, just one bite too many and it is not pleasant.

I see no issue with eating olives. However, I would not be eating more than 3 or 4 at a time. The other stuff, I don't know. I ate slow cooker pot roast last week and had no problem. That would be close to beef brisket I imagine. -

I guess tea then. The warmth really helped me feel better both pre-op and post-op. -

Can you have broth? Warm broth is very soothing to your tummy. Try adding some herbs/seasoning to the broth and sip slowly. It took care of my hunger feelings. -

Few choices for protein shakes for pre-op liquid diet?
magtart replied to Scylla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those same drinks were listed on my surgeon's pre-op diet, but he said I could go with Premier Protein. -
I would call Humana for an explanation.

I'm in Houston. I used the New Start Program at Memorial Hermann. My surgeon was Dr. Ricardo Bonnor and surgery was done at Memorial Hermann-Memorial City. I just went to the New Start website and completed their online questionnaire. They called me the very same day to get the ball rolling.

Another vote for Premier. That and the Isopure zero carb are the only two I use.
-
I'm using Celebrate and as soon as I finish them I plan on buying some regular old Vitamins. Ick, these things are awful. I like the apple-melon isopure the best. It reminds me of honeydew melon.

Post-op Pain Control? IV Tylenol? Not convinced.
magtart replied to gohelpyourself's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a morphine pump at the hospital and liquid hydrocodone at home. -
I had no drain tube and stayed one night in the hospital.

Drain the water, add mayo, and some lemon pepper, diced green onion, sometimes I add a bit of pickle relish.
-
This is what I can't wait for. Congrats!

How far out are you? I find that I don't need to sip anymore, I can take a good gulp. The fruit juice is not that great for fluids. If you don't like plain Water try G2 or Crystal Light.

You look great, congrats on your new life!

Yes, you can. I took Miralax one week post op.
