Sleeve or bypass
rredrruby87 replied to rredrruby87's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats Allan Cameron thats awesome. I do feel like I have been leaning towards the sleeve for the last few months maybe the Doctor who did the seminar just made the bypass seem a little more appealing. -

So I just got switched from my parents insurance to a new insurance through my employer since im 26 now and I have been making doctors appts going to seminars to have the gastric sleeve. My heart was set on this and I thought for sure no problem my insurance would pay for this i have high blood and many other problems. I had a 4 hour doctors appt set for next week to make my round of appts since my doctor has most everything in house. So i call my insurance this morning and ask about coverage and told me No they DO NOT cover it whatsoever... Im completely devastated and have had my heart set on this for awhile now, there is no way! i could do self pay...So needless to say does anyone know of any other options?! can i get obamacare insurance as a secondary? will they pay? i know they cover it in maryland but idk if they will cover it as a second insurance and that seems a little expensive to pay for 2 monthly premiums idk if i could ever afford that :'( im so upset this ruined everything

Carlotta- i seen the post but sometimes a secondary insurance wont cover something if the first one doesnt

How long was everyone out of work?
rredrruby87 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey I'm just starting my process to get WLS and I also just started a new job and was wondering how long everyone was out of work for? Since I just started this new job I dont want to be out of work too long I was hoping I could go back after a week or week and a half at the most? My doctor said 2-3 weeks though...did anyone go back to work after a week? Keep in mind I do have an admin assit. position so I am mostly sitting with some walking. -

wow thats great congrats -
I heard you really shouldnt have that stuff with the sleeve because its just not good for you but with the sleeve it wont really get stuck or cause a block like it might with the band. with the sleeve your muscle can still contract and squeeze the food down with the band your muscle cant contract.

Thank you everyone! It makes me feel a lot better that many of you went back after one week. I am a contractor so I want to make sure I get signed on again next year and dont want to get looked at negatively for missing too many days. I have a 6 year old daughter too so she will keep me moving a little during my week home. -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
rredrruby87 replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I completely agree with you its invading. I used to be a bank teller earlier this year actually...but when people get larger official checks we have to make sure that its really you, also we usually will verify your signature too and we were supposed to ask/dig to find out why you need the check. I hated doing it because i didnt think it mattered. But the bank is all about trying to sell you something credit card, credit line, mortgage, different types of accounts and so forth, so thats part of the reason they want the tellers to ask plus to make sure your not taking your money elsewhere. hope this insight makes you feel a little better? :/ -

Hey everyone one! Im new to this site. I am single, 26yrs old and I am now 210lbs and 5'3". I have high blood pressure, high cholestoral, herniated discs in my back, and diabetes and many heart conditions run in my family. Since last week I've decided I want to get the gastric sleeve, so I am in the very beginning of this process. Ive been yo-yo dieting for a couple years now and threw away a couple thousand with medifast. Which i was losing the weight and gained it all back once I ate real food. I have a 6 year old daughter whom I do not play enough with because I just dont have the energy or body parts hurt or Im too hot (because I only wear pants). If I can lose the weight I can give her a much better and more enjoyable life. I used to be very active and athletic and now not at all, I am not happy with this big body! I want to go outside in shorts and a tank top, I want to go swimming, I want to play sports and fit into boots that go over my calves!! lol I want to get down to 115-125lbs. I just started this process though and I am reading that it seems to take months until you can get scheduled for a surgery. I am at the point I just want this RIGHT NOW! I am going to a required informational seminar and support group this evening to get things started and then I will be able to schedule a consultation with the surgeon. Does anyone know how I can get this process moving a little faster? Or have any tips or advice to give? Oh and anyone who is similar in size/age to my starting weight I want to know how well your skin went back. It would be greatly appreciated!!
