  1. I had the gastric sleeve august 21st of 2013. I have had a few problems at week two when I was supposed to start soft foods I ate some tuna and got sick. And was throwing up and couldn’t get fluids down. I ended up at the hospital for two days on an IV. When I went home I was on clear fluids for a day and then back to blended foods for a week. On week three I still wasn’t getting enough fluids in and ended up at the emergency room because every time I stood up I became dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out. My DR said you have to drink more. I was only able to get 36 oz. in a day. I began forcing myself to drink even thought it was painful and giving me heart burn. I switched to water and got rid of the heart burn drinking was causing. By The begin of week four I was feeling better drinking 50 to 60 oz. a day. I am now eating soft foods. I am finding that I can’t seem to tolerate canned meats unless their blended. I can’t tolerate eggs. I can’t tolerate condiments with vinegar. Most meats give me heartburn. I can only drink water with just a few drops of flavor. Anything to sweet I get nauseated. I can drink cafix a coffee substitute and milk. I can no longer drink protein drinks they make me sick. I can eat yogurt, cheese, and apple sauce, cream of rice, peanut butter, soup and crackers. It’s hard to try new foods because I don't know if I will tolerate them. I lost 10 lbs. the first week and then nothing for two weeks I was only getting like 600 calories in a day. On week four I was able to increase my calories to a 1000 and I lost 6lbs in week four. So in a month I have only lost 16 lbs. It's kind of discouraging. I guess I was hoping it would go faster. Any ways that’s where I am now. I don’t regret the surgery but I am definitely looking at food in a different way. It's no longer a enjoyment its a Necessity. I'm just trying to get all the calories, fluids and protein I need so I can stay healthy and lose weight.
