  1. Sunwarrior plant based Protein Warrior food plant base protein Tera's Whey Protein powder I have tried the top two and am pleased. They do require some mixing....I gag pretty easily so I can't just mix them with Water. I haven't tried Tera's Whey yet but will be ordering some samples this month. These are processed without heavy metals, pesticides, are non-gmo, and processed to retain as much nutrient value as possible. The Warrior Food comes in glass jars so no chance of toxins leaching from plastics. I am still experimenting with them and am always on the lookout for natural, organic protein powders/shakes. Still looking for pre-made shakes.
  2. So, I read an article that the potential for leaks never actually goes away! 16 months post-op having a leak???? I figured just like most healing that there is eventually a period where you are out of woods as far as having a leak?? I was so confident in this decision (haven't been sleeved yet but my hubby are supposed to be this June) and now I am panicking!
  3. I do follow an organic, whole food diet. It has made a HUGE difference in me and my families life. It helped with my Hoshimotos (hypothyroid) PCOS and weight loss. We recently switched my 4 year old to a non-gluten diet which seems to have made a difference. We still eat Cookies and regular food..I just make them with non-gmo, organic stuff. I buy from the farmers market, the organic section in the grocery store and order some in bulk online. I WILL NEVER GO BACK to all of the processed junk. All of the synthetic ingredients, pesticides, preservatives cause you to hold onto weight and mess with your mind and body. It just deteriorates your health. It does take more effort and if you don't know were to look it can cost more $$ but overall it costs us about the same or less because we dont' eat out much. My breaking point was some yahoo article about the grossest ingredients in your food that you don't know about and then the PINK SLIME in meat....yuck. Just sickened me. I found 100 Days of Real Food and it opened up a whole new world and way of thinking for me. I think combined with the sleeve it will work wonders. Caution: Its like taking the red pill from the Matrix....once you embark on learning the truth about food, "fat free", Monsanto, big food industry it is hard to go back. Everything we have been taught and think we know is the opposite. For example: REAL, grass-fed, hormone free, pesticide free, organic BUTTER is actually good for you. Its not a new found theory....our parents, grandparents, great grandparents new their farmers and fixed their own food and new what was in it. If you are interested here are my favorite resources and bloggers: http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/ http://foodbabe.com/ https://www.facebook...ort/98397470347 http://michaelpollan.com/ I am so glad there are others out there with this interest! I was beginning to think I was the only one! I haven't been sleeved yet but started this new transition last August (it hasn't been super easy) and slowly it has made a huge difference in our lives. I have tons of resources so if anyone is interested feel free to just holler!

    Late Leaks? Freaking out!

I had made peace with the idea that there are a lot of "rare" complications in the beginning. I figured that was typical of all surgeries and that at some point I would be "home free" so to speak. Never did I expect to find out that leaks can happen years later. It just shakes things up a bit. Yes it is rare but it doesn't mean it is any less concerning. One reason I passed on lap-bad was the the lifetime of issues...I thought the sleeve would be different. If you made it through the first 6months + unscathed you were pretty much free to live your new life...not constantly worry about potential deadly complications for the rest of it.

All candid photos (which I hate and try to avoid). I figure they are what I truly look like so I use them as motivation!

Literally trying to find the worst pictures of me so I can keep myself motivated. These are candid shots which I never agree to....all are taking by someone else.
  15. We definitely have pictures that we can send. We have had insurance since 2008 but he has NEVER gone to the doc until we started doing the required pre-op 6 month diet last year. He doesn't take meds and rarely gets sick. So hopefully we can explain that in the letter and provide pics and that will be enough. Its not like he is 220lbs...he is over 300lbs...you don't just get to that overnight.
  16. Thank you for taking time each day to post about your journey! It is more than helpful and inspiring! Keep up the good work and congrats on your new sleeve!
  17. Sending good vibes your way!!!!!!!!!
  18. So I was reading a random thread an in the signature line a lady went from a size 12w shoe to a 10.5! Totally blew my mind! I have worn size 11-12 as long as I can remember....I would love to wear a size 10 or 10.5........... Anyone else feet shrink with weight loss?
  19. I would be happy to throw away all my old shoes and no longer have to go to "Omar the Tent Maker" (as my mom calls it) to find shoes!
  20. That's awesome to hear! My hubby thought I was crazy when I said people's feet were shrinking too! I would love to just walk in a shoe store and buy a pair off the wrack instead of ordering online.....oh the possibilities!
  21. I think I am going to make my hubby do the lift from "dirty dancing". The list is soooo long I can't even focus on one particular thing!
  22. Hi Ladies, I haven't been sleeved yet but do suffer from Hoshimoto's disease, PCOS and insulin resistance. I just want to throw out my two cents. I have been dealing with it for about 14 years and was Levothyroxine and Synthroid...metformin....you name it. I never felt good. The thyroid symptoms were unbearable even though my labs were within "normal range". I finally was fed up with 'umpteen' Endocrinologist s and even my original PCP. I researched everything and came across Stop the Thyroid Madness http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/. They mentioned T3 and T4 and all this stuff I had never been tested for. Then they mentioned Armour Thyroid as a medication. It is made from pig thyroid and had to be perscribed. My PCP refuse to prescribe anything other than the two main name brands so I fired him. I have since be on Armour for almost 3 years and it changed my life. I have the occasional flare but it has been the difference between night and day. Before I was sooooooo fatigued I slept through my 1 year old crying in his crib in the morning...I would wake up at 11am when he had been awake since 8....it was the last straw. I also found a doctor that treats based on SYMPTOMS not blood test alone. NOT EVERYONE feels great at 3.5 even though its within " normal range". Be your best advocate. I went through 4 docs until I landed on my current PCP of 3 years. Another big contributor....processed food of any kind. Whole organic foods have made a HUGE difference. I've lost about 13lbs without changing anything but quality of food. If you would like more info PM me....I don't want it to seem like I am pushing websites or anything...just information. Best of luck gals!
  23. Hi All, I had my son when I was 25 and weighing around 260s (i am 5'9). I was young and lots more energy and weighed less then. I have been putting off other kids for numerous reasons but the major one is how physically drained I feel. I also have Hoshimoto's and PCOS. I am weighing around 285 now and just turned 30 in Feb. I have been reluctant to get pregnant again because I just can't imagine having the extra weight, the discomfort, the complications, etc. Not too include the extra weight and trying to manage two kids, house, family and career. I mean it just does not sound doable. I am supposed to be sleeved this summer. I can't help but think pregnancy and kid rearing after you lose 100lbs+ has to be easier....at least as far as energy and just movement to get up and play, etc. I play now and we do lots of stuff but it takes a toll. I feel like I am running out of time. I would likely be hitting 31 or 32 by the time I could get preggers....making my son and potential other kid 7 years apart (not ideal). END RANT! Thoughts? Was your second (third, fourth, etc) pregnancy and life easier after the sleeve and weight loss?
  24. Thanks ladies for the replies!! I appreciate it.
