  1. I'm with both of you! I've been at a stall the last week!! My surgery was on the 24th and total lost since surgery is 14lbs. It's hard not to get discouraged when you hear of so many people losing 20-30 lbs.

Have you done any exercising at all? I had a slight stall and started taking longer walks... It seems to have helped... I know how difficult stalls are especially since we can eat hardly anything. I was told that our bodies go into starvation mode because of our limited calories. It does eventually straighten out and you start losing again... Try to give yourself a break and be patient... I struggle with my patience and want the weight gone yesterday! Remember we didn't put the weight on overnight so it's not going to come off overnight... You can do this!

  2. This article went around on Facebook this past week! It hits home so much for me... The last time I was in a gay club - I was standing by myself texting a friend while other friends were dancing.. When I looked up there was a group of 6 or so younger gay "men" looking at me, pointing and laughing (or throwing shade)... It was so hurtful and I wasn't doing anything to them... I didn't say anything to my friends until we left because I didn't want to start a fight.. My friends were furious and wanted to go back and confront them but to me it wasn't worth my time... I haven't been to a gay club since then... I'll go to an occasional piano bar because the crowd tends to be a little older... But I really don't feel like I "fit"!

  3. Sorry I feel like I'm bombarding the food board today but catching up with the stuff I neglected to post this week. Okay let's be honest' date=' this isn't desert, but it's as close as I'm going to come to it right now, so I decided to enjoy it. Pics here: http://sleevers.wordpress.com/2013/10/02/pumpkin-caramel-bake-high-protein-low-carb-gluten-free/ Fall weather is here in Texas and it’s time to make something with pumpkin that’s still sleeve friendly. I adapted this from eggface’s pumpkin ricotta bake. It would actually make a nice Breakfast dish as well. Ingredients 2 eggs beaten 1 c ricotta cheese 1/2 c pumpkin puree 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice 1/2 c sugar-free Caramel Syrup (I used Torani) 1 packet Stevia (optional) Toppings Handful of dried craisins Handful of slivered almonds Method 1. Mix together all ingredients. Pour into greased pan. 2. Sprinkle toppings . 3. Bake at 350 degrees for an hour or until knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Really, does it get simpler than this? 4. Let it cool or eat warm with whipped cream.[/quote']

What size pan do you normally use? I may do mine in muffin tins for Portion Control but I'm just curious... I'm making this tonight!!!!

  4. hey I had my surgery 9/16 (I know it says August sleeves ) I must have been out of it lol!! I've hit a brick wall. Could you share with me what your menu looks like. how much Protein and calories are you getting in?

I had my surgery 9/11 and here is an example of my intake:

    1/2 c egg beaters

    1 laughing cow cheese

    3 oz tuna

    1 Tbsp light mayo

    3 oz roasted chicken thigh

    1 oz puréed carrots

    1 oz mashed sweet potatoes

    Snacks

5 oz light & fit Greek yogurt

    4 oz unsweetened apple sauce

1/2 c non fat cottage cheese with 1 Tbsp strawberry all fruit spread mixed in

    That's my usual day...

  5. Pretty much immediately - scrambled eggs and yogurt (along with the typical juices and broths) in the hospital followed at home by experimenting progressively (under plan - try new things one at a time to test for tolerance) with other soft things like oatmeal' date=' softer cheeses, progressively less strained Soups, Peanut Butter, tuna progressing to dark chicken, etc.[/quote']

I wow that's impressive that you had that in the hospital... The closest thing to food I had was a Protein enriched jello! And Peanut Butter? !? I still haven't been cleared for peanut butter...

My biggest advice is to check with your surgeon and nutritionist... Every doctor's plan is different and can even vary from patient to patient...

  7. Hi.. I am 6 days post op and can't for the life of me get my Protein.. I'm going crazy.. I've tried several shakes. Isopure was the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted. Just thinking about it makes me gag.. What else can I have so early on? I an literally surviving on g2 and Jello.. Help!!!

unjury.com sells a chicken Soup flavored Protein Powder that is 20g of protein... It's very good! They also have an unflavored you can put in broths, etc.... ProtiDiet makes ones you put in Water that are pretty good...I've tried the Peach/mango flavor which is pretty good!

  8. Thank you' date=' thank you for the ideas!! I am 4 1/2 weeks out and can definitely do powdered milk in my milk! I NEVER would have thought of that! Excellent! I do eat eggs, cheese, meat. I honestly cannot tolerate any Protein drinks and the Protein bars are all too sweet AND loaded with carbs! I'm not a carb fanatic but 40 grams in One Bar OMG! Not happening.[/quote']

Have you looked at the Protein Bar made by Zone? They aren't so sweet! I had one presurgery and it was good... I don't know the carb count but I know 2 sleevers that use them!

  9. From what I've learned this far, food doesn't get stuck... The uncomfortable feeling is from not chewing thoroughly or eating to fast or too much for your stomach to handle... You can try sipping Water or like the previous posters recommended, some hot tea... If the feeling doesn't go away in a few hours, call your doc just to be safe! Good luck!
