  1. I feel like myself again. I can do absolutely everything I did before (with my knees crunching a little bit less already) except lift up my kids. I'm on a 10 pound lifting restriction until next Friday.

    Gas when laying down

That's the thing. I have virtually no gas pain at all during the day. It's only when I lay down. I have my body in a cocoon of pillows at night, so my side is actually pretty comfortable - until my stomach start rumbling, I feel the gas moving and finally let out the mousiest fart ever.
  4. Was sleeved on Friday (11/1). I haven't had any major issues with gas pain, especially now that I'm up and walking a lot. My issue is when I lay down, I notice a ton of gas pains! It wakes me up at night. For the record, I'm sleeping on my side and sometimes wake up and find myself on my stomach. Is this normal? Anyone had similar?

    Gas when laying down

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that I've been drinking protein shakes right before bed - like maybe I'm not up and giving it time to digest a little.
  6. I have dermabond on mine, so they aren't open to air just yet. Mine are healing up nicely though. (3 days post op as well)

    November buddies where are you?

On Monday my family flies to Anchorage so I can do all of my pre-op appointments on Tuesday. Then, Friday will be the big day. I'm so excited, but catch myself wondering if there's any chance I could have done this on my own. That's when I think back on the last 20 years of my life (I just turned 30) and hear a resounding NO! This is it. I'm SO ready.

I'm Crystal and today (10/16) is my 30th birthday. I'm having surgery on Nov 1 in Anchorage, AK. No pre-op diet, but I'm going to do protein shakes and lean meats/veggies starting on Friday for myself. I'm a nurse and mom of 2 little ones. My husband (and super duper best friend) is active duty. My current weight: 281 Goal: 130-135 Height: 5'4" NSV/goal: to hike one of the local mountains here in AK before we move next summer. Let's do this!!!

  13. 19 days until my surgery November 1!!! Is this for real?!?!
  14. You can assign her as your power of attorney. http://www.rocketlawyer.com/form/power-of-attorney.rl All you should need to do then is have it notarized or signed off by an attorney. I'm not sure the law in your state, but this should cover you. I'd also call the surgeon's office and explain your concerns.
  15. I'm 5'4" and 285#. Looking through the stories on this forum makes me feel sad. I should have taken charge of this years ago. I know I will be successful. Failure isn't an option. Gosh, when you're 150 pounds overweight you can't afford the luxury of failing. Of the people that had a very high BMI, how many people made it to goal? I'm asking because I want to be 130. That is a normal, healthy weight for my frame and I don't want to do this half-assed. So, hit me with some encouraging stories!
  16. Thanks for the stories! Sometimes I even feel like I'm the heaviest one on this forum for height. Surgery is November 1 and I feel ready. In the last 30 days I have quit smoking, given up caffeine, stopped drinking pop and have stopped drinking with meals. My next goal is to become vigilant about drinking between meals and hopefully that will keep snack cravings away. My husband is doing the diet with me. We are going to be 80% paleo with a few select carbs and gluten free We owe it to our kids (almost 3 and 18 months) to grow up knowing what normal portion sizes are. We owe it to ourselves to have the best life we could have dreamed of. I owe it to myself because I am worth being healthy for.

    Just beginning

I'm not in Detroit metro anymore (we live in Alaska now) but we used to live in Beverly Hills just up the road from Beaumont Royal Oak. <3 Good memories for this Michigander at heart.
  18. My date is November 1. On 09/29 I quit smoking - I have been smoking two a day for about a year but that habit ha been challenging to give up. I just really want this surgery more. -I stopped drinking pop on 09/24. That one has been TOUGH. I usually drink a 20oz Diet Dr Pepper or Diet Coke every day. About a month ago I switched it to sprite to break the caffeine addiction. That helped immensely. Now I drink the occasional Vitamin Water or mio but otherwise I'm just drinking plain water. - I have been working on not drinking during meals. This one is going to be so hard since I drink like a fish. I usually pack away at least 24-36 ounces at each meal. I realized this morning while I was having brunch with a skinny friend that she barely sipped her water and I had finished my third glass. There must be something to that. It's a hard hard habit to break.
