  1. I lost friends and some family shunned me before surgery. After surgery some friends I lost because I was losing weight and they weren't. The family that shunned me initially wanted the surgery suddenly. Others after surgery tell me "i'm too thin now." I am still over weight not by much but I eat and drink like I am supposed to. I got my surgery for health reasons and longevity for my life and to not die prematurely as my mom did at 41 from being over weight and there is a long standing of heart issues in my family. She doesn't sound like a friend at all to me, I'm sorry. .

    Regret

Getting depressed is very normal. You are stressed, hormonal, in pain, mourning the loss of food, frustrated with things you might want to eat but can't yet. Maybe you aren't losing as fast as you thought you were going to... It varies from person to person but the one thing 90% of us have in common is the depression from the hormones and loss of food. I was very sick after my surgery (uncommon things) for about 3 months. It was hell for me I am not going to lie. I would go through it all again in a heart beat. I have lost 111 lbs in 7 months without barely trying and my body started feeling so much better after even 25-30 of the lbs came off. The joint pain, back pain, no more diabetes, etc. Be patient and stay strong girl, you got this! Make sure you have a good support system at home and come on here and read and vent as needed because we have been through it too and understand more then people who haven't had weight loss surgeries.
  4. These forums helped with questions and doubt. My husband was my support before surgery but not after.
  5. I had my gall bladder out before surgery and have sphincter of oddi dysfunction (type 1). I have had multiple lower stomach surgeries as well for PCOS (cyst removals and draining), bladder surgery, and a c-section. None of those surgeries affected my sleeve surgery. I did however have some issues from the sphincter of oddi dysfunction (type 1) and nausea but that isn't a common illness to have to begin with. I also had some issues with my vagus nerve after surgery, not sure why really, but my heart rate was too low and after about 4 months that improved, that isn't common either though.
  6. I am in the same boat. My husband of 13 years (together 17) and I are separating this month due to him pursuing other women and trashing me behind my back while trying to cheat. We have 2 children, 4 and 7, together. He never had a problem with my weight before (he is big himself) and after supposedly thought I was beautiful and "sexy" but never acted it or told me it. Before surgery, I knew he had cheated (he was busted) and doubted him a few other times but I honestly didn't have the self esteem to leave nor did I care as much as I should have because I thought I was so disgusting and I hated seeing myself naked so how could he? This time I'm not sure if he cheated 100% but he was 100% trying to and lying and deleting messages and trashing me while trying to get with my friend and my sister. I flipped and threw him out. I am moving out of state next month and starting over with my kids. I DO NOT need that and I DO NOT deserve that! I know that now and I love myself now. It's gonna be rough but just like with this surgery time WILL heal all wounds and things WILL be better eventually. I wish you all the luck in the world.

    Maybe some doubt

I had those same EXACT feelings. I reminded myself of all the reasons I wanted the surgery and made a list to keep reminding myself. I spoke with my support person who also reminded me of all the benefits of the surgery and how long I tried to lose the weight and failed. It's hard on the pre-op because you are tired, craving food, hungry, maybe you cheat on occasion (most do) and then you are like OMG if I can't handle this for 2 week how will I EVER be able to do this after surgery? Let me tell you.. most of us had those same fear. Some of us cheated before surgery and had major guilt. Some of us didn't always listen exactly after surgery (a little to brave) and quickly learned OUCH or PUKE or poops. It is a lot easier after surgery. You got this sweetie! Be strong you are almost there. Also after surgery I hated most smells foods had. After the pre-op and post op diet I hated the way all my old bad choices tasted. I tasted all the preserves, salt, sugar, smells.. you will be surprised how much different things are.

    Trial run of preop diet?

I'm not gonna lie the pre-op diet is rough because we are still hungry and everyone is eating all these foods you still want. But after 3-4 days you get used to it and the headaches got better, and for me, I would be full before being done with the shakes. I had a really upset tummy on the pre-op shakes. My body cleansed all that junky fat out! My pre-op diet was all Protein shakes because of a milk allergy about 900 calories. 3 days before surgery it was all clear fluids and broth about 450 calories.
  9. The enlarged liver is the big thing and I think practice on what your diet is essentially gonna be for a bit gets you more aware of what you will need to do after surgery because it is overwhelming for a bit.
  10. Time makes all that better. It does get better. It is very stressful worrying about the Water and Proteins at first. My surgeon told me the first 3 months to focus more on the water and Vitamins. The Protein is great if you can handle it but not a major issue until 3 months out as far as depriving and deficiencies go. chicken, tuna, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, fish, all has awesome protein for you. Choose a few favorites and add some broth or avocado or spices to get it to right consistency that you are ate and snack on it every few hours in between whatever amount of shakes you can handle.

    Whats wrong with me!

You see yourself everyday and have high hopes and goals. You probably wouldn't notice 10 lbs on your self but your family could. I was the same way. If after losing most of your weight you still feel like that I would talk to a therapist about it and get on track but I think you will notice it more and more especially with pictures. I felt like I wasn't seeing a difference., The scale was moving and my clothes weren't much different. Everyone was raving how great I looked. Once I compared my week before surgery to my month out surgery.. HOLY COW you could see it in my face especially.
  12. Ok for me.. The first couple of months I was never hungry or thirsty. I had to force myself to eat and drink but I had a ton of nausea. Eventually I got hungry but not like starving more like snack time hungry and I eat every 2-4 hours 1-3 oz depending on how my stomach feels. I have not been able to tolerate the Protein shakes or drinks since surgery very much so most of my meals are usually greek yogurt or usually chicken. My Snacks I do veggies or fruits. Rarely do I have Pasta or breads.. they make me too full and feel so sick like rocks are in my tummy (that was my weakness). If I have carbs it's 3-4 crackers with some tuna or something. But I still feel hungry and sometimes crave sweets. I will still have sweets on occasion but I have a bite or 2 rather than a helping. When I eat out with friends I order from places like Fridays or Chillis typically and I get a grilled chicken kids meal with a side salad. I always have 3 meals extra with it and I don't drink while eating. If you eat somewhere really unhealthy make sure to order chilli, or chicken, yogurt, fruits, salads, or get the normal size burger without the buns and all the fatty stuff but eat 2-3 oz worth not the whole thing. I am open about my surgery and don't hide it so I don't feel uncomfortable going out with friends and eating.

    Elevated liver test

Mine wasn't after surgery but before I did. That can be fatty liver, liver damage, gall bladder, sphincter of oddi dysfunction, medicine related, or if you are drinking from that. Mine was from sphincter of oddi dysfunction and medicine. It went back down. Your body is really out of whack after surgery and everything is healing still. I would talk to the surgeon and have him run some tests but I wouldn't freak out just yet. Mine went triple what they were supposed to and my liver is fine now. You get really fatigued and stuff when they are high so just take it easy.
  15. I understand your frustrations. I had type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes so I had to deal with Metformin and Januvia and all the blood sugar testing. I also have PCOS so weight for me has been a real struggle. I had to do insulin while I was pregnant both N and R. The night time waking to pee the constant up and down on the blood sugars making ya feel terrible.. BUT.. I don't have type 2 anymore and my PCOS has improved some since surgery. In the hospital I was on insulin but once I went home (3 days) I didn't need diabetes medication anymore and I feel great most of the time. I still on occasion get too low or too high but I can tell when something is wrong and I watch it and see what I am doing that is effecting it. Things are a lot easier to control after surgery sweetie. Hang in there and be strong!
