  1. Yes I want to quit drinking. That's why I came here and posted.
  2. I'm 3.5 years out from gastric sleeve surgery and got below my goal but in the last two years have put on about 15 lbs. I need to lose 10 to get back to goal. My problem is that I started drinking. I'm so ashamed and feel so guilty. I did so good and was doing everything right. Now im afraid that I won't be able to lose the weight. I know I need to stop drinking but it's been hard because a lot of the people I hang out with drinks including my husband. Excuses I know. When I don't drink I get asked every time why I'm not drinking. I see that this is not uncommon but I'm actually putting myself out there and admitting I have a problem. Any words of encouragement?
  3. I am a little over 4 months out and have lost 61 lbs. I haven't started working out yet but I want to start running again. I'm afraid that working out will stall my weight loss. I know I need to start toning. Is this just silly thinking? Thanks!
  4. I'm less than 24 hours away from surgery and I'm also feeling nervous, scared but mostly excited! I wish you the best of luck with your surgery! We will be on the loser's bench before you know it!
  5. He has an upper respiratory infection and just got home from offshore yesterday evening.
  6. My husband is sick and the dr. says it's contagious. I have surgery in 4 days and I'm afraid of getting sick. I am already fighting allergies right now and have a little bit of a cough. I think the cough is from the drainage. Should I go to the dr. and try to get some antibiotics? If I have to cancel this surgery....I will have to wait until next year. He got a shot and all kinds of meds. I am hoping that I don't get it. Any advice?
  7. This is just my opinion so you can take it for what it's worth. I haven't been sleeved yet. I am scheduled for 12/17. I have been on every diet possible and have a whole library of diet books. I have struggled for about 12 years now and it's really taken a toll on my self esteem. Yes...this is major surgery. Yes....there are possible complications. BUT.....I'm going into thinking....woo hoo! I'm getting a chance to comletely change my life and I'm excited! I'm going into it being positive and knowing that I'm going to be just fine. I say go for it! Good luck in whatever you decide to do!
  8. I am getting sleeved on December 17th and hubby wants me to give him a list of Christmas gift ideas. Is there anything after having surgery that would be good to put on my list? I already have those blender shaker ball bottles and a blender on my list. I don't want to put any kind of clothes since I won't be able to wear them very long at my current size. Any ideas? Thanks!
  9. I'm scheduled for December 17th and I'm getting nervous as well! I have had several surgeries but for some reason this one really has me antsy. I guess it's because this is such a life changing experience. I'm so excited but I'm also nervous too. I don't have to do any kind of pre-op diet and I'm a little worried that my recover might be a little difficult. I'm so looking forward to being on the other! Good luck to you all!
  10. I'm also scheduled for December 17th! I am so ready! I plan on going through my clothes this weekend. I have several sizes from 8's to 18's. Yikes! I will be so glad to get into my smaller clothes! Good luck to you all!
  11. I am scheduled two weeks from today and the last several days I find that I get emotional pretty easy. I'm nervous, excited, scared.....all of the above but I do cry a lot lately. I keep thinking about how my life is getting ready to change and I do get emotional. It's been such a struggle and I have felt so fat and ugly for so long and I'm finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. I know this will be a tough journey but I'm ready. Anybody else going through this?
  12. Just got a call from my surgeon's office a few minutes ago. I am approved and scheduled my date as well as my pre-op appointment. December 17th! 3 weeks away! I cannot believe it!
  13. I will probably let them know about my surgery but I just wanted to know if physically I would feel up to it.
  14. I'm hoping to schedule my surgery around December 17th or 18th. My husband's family does not know that I am having wls and want to have Christmas at our house. Do you think that will be too much for me to handle that soon after surgery? I'm kind of thinking it will be. I also think I will still be on a liquid diet. Thoughts?
  15. and it's still Pending but the rep told me that they have my surgery date as December 2nd. Is that a true date or did the surgery coordinator have to just put any date in? I'm so ready!
  16. I have Empire BCBS and my file was also submitted last Thursday or so they said. I called my insurance company and they don't show anything so I have no idea. They also told me I should know something within 2 weeks. LOL! Sounds like we are in the same boat. The wait is awful!
  17. Good luck to you and hope you have a speedy recovery!
  18. I totally get what you are saying. I have been on a cpap for about 8 years and although I look forward to getting off of it, I have really come to rely on it. I have horrible allergies and it has gotten me through many a nights sleep. Good luck to you!
  19. Oh that is going to be so awesome! You HAVE to come back and update us for sure on her reaction! And congratulations on your loss. That is so great!
  20. Awesome news! Hoping you get a quick surgery date!
  21. Ugh...why am I not surprised?? I should have expected this. I have completed all of my requirements and my file will be submitted to insurance tomorrow. My mom told me the other day what goal weight she thought would be good for me. Really? I didn't say anything. Then this morning she called me and wants to talk to me about why I'm choosing the sleeve over lap band. She says...."You know the sleeve is permanent right?" Again...really? I am 43 years old and trust me...I have done the research and talked at length with my bariatric team. My mom has always been pretty negative and very vocal about my weight problem. She says she's concerned about me and I get that so I'm trying not to get upset. I will have the conversation with her but she's not changing my mind. Anybody ever have this happen to them? How did you handle it?
  22. I did see a place above the area where claims that have been paid are. I am assuming that is where it will be? Good luck to you!
  23. I have BCBS and was wondering where you look online to see if your claim was approved or not? Is that just in the claim portion online? I just finished up my NUT and psyche evaluation today so they said they will be submitting within a day or 2. Getting very excited as well as nervous.
  24. I am pre-sleeve and also from the "clean your plate" club. When I was a kid...I couldn't get up from the table until my plate was clean. That is a very hard habit to break. So this got me to thinking about ordering out at restaurants. If you order from the kids menu....do you get any resistence from the waitstaff? I guess I could just order from the main menu and take home whatever is left over. I just hate wasting food! A friend of mine who had the sleeve done about a year and a half ago says that I better get used to wasting food. What are your thoughts?
