Changing Surgeons
I had that problem. I did all my stuff, Nut, Psych, everything with a facility when they went to submit to my insurance the hospital that this facility used was not an IOQ hospital (Institute of Quality) that the insurance required. It was a good hospital and I could use that hospital just not for this particular surgery. I have Aetna. So after all that the facility called me and told me I had to find a different doctor , however they had all my paper work ready to submit to insurance so they sent it to me. I found a new doctor, I did have to go to the seminar again and after that schedule an appointment with the doctor (took about a month for all this) once I saw the doctor I gave him all my paperwork he said I was ready and all they had to do was submit again to the insurance. Once insurance approved me (they submitted on a Thursday and I was approved the following Tuesday pretty fast), everything moved pretty fast. I had to get my esophagus test and some blood work for presurgery and that was it. Im scheduled for surgery April 10. I started this back in Sep 2013 and should have been sleeved in January. But I didn't have to do all the testing again my new doctor took all my paperwork and went with it. Good luck

pre-op jitters
Veggies and diced potatoes yummy. I wish my pre-op had some real food. Mine is all liquids, protein shakes, water, broth and yogurt or cottage cheese. You can post your updates here or go to the post-op forum and start a new topic. Looking forward to reading them. I have not mastered the eating or drinking slowly yet.

pre-op jitters
Im on the same boat. Mine is April 10th and last night I couldn't sleep thinking. And I know if it wasn't for the pre-op diet I would be eating like crazy. We will be fine. Keep us updated. Good luck.

I wish I hadn't told
I agree with you. This was a very hard decision and to have others make it worse with their judgements makes it even harder. Like I said I really wish I had just kept my mouth shut it would have saved me a lot of grief.

I wish I hadn't told
marathon1218 I feel the same way. I always pray that if something is not meant for me for God to close all the doors, I did the same when making this decision and the ride has been smooth so far. At this point, Im just ignoring her posts, as I am preocupied with my liquid diet and upcoming surgery.

How did you handle telling everyone about your surgery
I wish I had kept my mouth shut that's for sure.

I wish I hadn't told
I'm on my pre-op diet and surgery is April 10th. At first, when I decided I was gonna do this I wasn't gonna tell. But when I had to put for my FMLA at work people found out I was gonna be out for medical reasons, and started asking and I couldn't hold my excitement and told a few, yes I did get the "you are taking the easy way out" "just eat less" "your not that big just exercise" but I didn't care because these are just coworkers. Still I wish I had kept my mouth shut. But two days ago I decided to tell a very good friend who lives far I was asking her to keep me in her prayers because I was doing the surgery and her reaction did hurt. She didn't flat out say it but she started telling me about someone she knew who had complications and I took it as she is just concerned but then her FB post started. Since that day most of her posts are about "not altering our bodies" body image and being happy with what God gave us and today it was not to ask God why things go wrong because everything has consequences and if we alter our body and our health deteriorates that's our own fault. I'm feeling like the posts are for me. And this time it's someone I care for and it hurts. I wish I had kept this to myself.

What happens in my preop appt?
Mine went like this..they weight you then the Dr came asked if I had questions or concerns. (I had none) And he left the nurse came and gave me the liquid diet instructions and the instructions for the night and the morning of the surgery and that was it. Pretty fast. Liquid diet is horrible. First couple of days are the hardest. I had terrible headaches. Now its a little better but I still get hungry. Good luck with your surgery. Mine is April 10th when is yours?

3rd day Out

Started my liquid diet today.
Hang in there. I also didn't think I could make it but like they said it gets easier after like the 3rd day. Good luck

the waiting is the hardest part
Mine is April 10th. 2014. It should have been in January 2014 but I had to switch Drs for insurance reasons. I started back in Sept 2013. I thought waiting was the hardest part but now that is so close, I think these 2 weeks before surgery are the hardest part, the pre-op diet its soooo hard and the nerves have taken my TOM away this month. Everyday I have more and more doubts so I come here and read success stories so I don;t feel so afraid. But before you know it your time will be here. Good luck on your journey.

What's going on with my body?

What's going on with my body?
OK I'm gonna vent a little. I'm a person that never gets sick. And I can set up an alarm w my TOM it's always on time. As I am preparing for my surgery April 10 my TOM disappeared, (no chances of me being pregnant at all) I only spotted. Then I feel like I'm getting a cold. And now that I'm doing my preop diet I'm waking up w bad headaches and I can't take meds. Maybe I'm stressing too much. I've never had a missed TOM.

Starting Two Week Pre-OP Diet Today
Im supposed to start mine Thursday but I started early just in case I messed up, and to let my body adjust to the all liquid idea. Today is my third day and I woke up with the worst headache, of course they said no meds 10 days before surgery but because Im sooo paranoid Im doing no meds a month before LOL.My surgery is April 10...So far I've done pretty good. I've noticed the hunger comes at night, so I just go to bed so I dont have to think about it. Good luck with your diet. Let us know how it goes.

2 things that worried me the most.
Thank you for the idea I will try the injury w almond milk. I tried Isopure drinks and I liked them. I would put 2 drops of crystal light in them and crushed ice and it's really good too.

2 things that worried me the most.
Thank You. I started taking vitamins now pre surgery so I can get used to taking them. The protein so far I've only tried bariatric advantage, I bought some premier proteins that Im saving for after surgery. Which one is your favorite? Do you mix it with water or milk?

2 things that worried me the most.
Hi I've been reading a lot and watching you tube videos so I have been writing down things but there is so much out there. I should be sleeved on April 10, 2014. I started my liquid diet a little bit before the 2 weeks because I'm a slow loser, I have been drinking the Bariatric Advantage Protein drinks which aren't that bad, but I have noticed I get gassy this worries me because I work in an office full of people and I've been reading about the stomach rumbles and the uncontrollable gas after surgery. I have been using Gas-x strips. But I'm wondering if its the protein that does this or the skim milk? Should I use Water instead of milk? What foods should i totally avoid after surgery so I don't get gassy? And my other concern is malnutrition. I'm such a picky eater already and to top that I suck at cooking. I need easy ideas. Thank you ...Can't wait to be on the losers bench.

Am going for a sleeve in april 10 th
Only one week? lucky you. I have to start mine on the 27th 2 weeks before. But because I know Im such a slow loser I started yesterday. I have been trying to cut back ever since I heard I was approved and did not lose a single pound. So I figured Ill start this liquid thing early so in case I slip at least I got a couple of days to adjust to the "real thing". So far yesterday I felt hungry in the afternoon. And I had like 3 sugar free popsicles but that did not do much so I had a little bit of Peanut Butter and Water and that calmed me down a little, That and then I went to bed early so I would forget about the hunger.LOL
