  1. Dr. Fernando Garcia via Ready4aChange $4700 all inclusive. Great Dr. at a reasonable rate. A real hospital too. I feel like I had a high quality surgeon and team.
  2. North Fort Worth here. Sleeved 4 weeks ago today. How's everyone doing?
  3. Well the thing is that every ones DR has a different pre op diet so sticking to one specific diet does not ensure a more successful surgery. I would do 90% liquids and if you absolutely must have something then have a zero carb snack or meal. Just do whatever you have to do to shrink your liver, start the weight loss momentum, and keep your surgeon happy.
  4. From a guys perspective, don't date him. Not one date. If you are not attracted to him... then that's it, don't lead him on. If a girl was not attracted to me but said yes to a date that would be a total mind f***. Don't do that to the poor lazy divorced smoker. You'll find non-divorce, single, physically fit, active lifestyle guys in 10 more weeks. Be patient, but be ready.
  5. I would wait to start dating after at least 6 weeks, when you can start eating pretty much everything. You'll be down 30-50 lbs your confidence will be higher, and you dont have to worry about not eating on a date. As far as telling him, I wouldn't. At least not until date #5. Personally I'm not trying to date anyone until I get near my goal. I'm on a mission for the next year, a goal to hit and I don't need any distractions, added stress, or complications right now. I say that now, and then 3 weeks later I meet the girl of my dreams watch: karma.
  6. Yeah I was like this too. Food is a comfort, almost a crutch. You have to break free of this. And at just 3 weeks post op, i feel like i have already done that. I mean you literally cant have food so its not even a choice early on. I had a craving for pizza the other day, actually every day. I just have a little marinara and some cheese and Im all good. And im talking 1/4 of a cup, fills you up. Just think, if you sacrifice just 1 year of food, only 365 days and get to your goal weight or damn near to it, at that time you can enjoy your italian food again. You are almost forced to eat small portions, and you never feel hungry, it's great, I was pretty nervous about my surgery, they gave me a zanax, and after waiting for 5 hrs at the hospital I was actually chomping at the bit to get it over with. total 180. You are going to be able to eat anything you want eventually, probably less than 6 months from surgery. Just make the small sacrafice of 6mo to 1 year and be physically fit for the rest of your life. Alright im done.
  7. yeah thats all ever drink, i dont have the time or the patience to mix my own. I buy this one, http://www.mealrepla...ex-lite-review/ best tasting chocolate flavor i have tried a lot of different kinds too, and tons of protein. I buy it at my local grocery store which is Kroger, not online, but i haven't compared the pricing so maybe you could find a deal because they are kind of expensive. They way I look at it is that I don't eat a lot of food anyways so I might as well spend a little more on the food I do eat and make sure they are of superior quality.
  8. yeah thats all ever drink, i dont have the time or the patience to mix my own. I buy this one, http://www.mealreplacementshakereviews.com/myoplex-lite-review/ best tasting chocolate flavor and tons of protien. you only need 1 per day at most.
  9. pan fried filet with some olive oil. simple. used frozen talapia and salmon bought at the grocery store. water intake was normal, i did not add to or decrease my water consumption.
  10. I was sleeved by Dr. Garcia on Sept 24th. Both Dr.s are great. Both have a lot of experience. All things being equal I went with Garcia because I saved $2,000. Nursing staff and hospital were better than expected. And the information package you get to take home is so helpful. But I think that was provided by Ready4aChange. About hair loss, nothing you do now will help you 6 months from now. Most people have hair loss because they do not get enough protein and vital nutrients. I am 18 days post op, no hair loss here. If you are on a pre op diet you are told to stop all supplements, just fyi.
  11. if you are hot then you are dehydrated and you need to drink more water. it happens just after surgery as well. Drink more water, it works.
  12. I lost 15lbs in 10 days doing only fish for dinner pre op. it will work.
  13. drink more water and stick to 3 meals per day. no grazing. if you need something more between meals other than water then have a protein drink with little to no carbs. you can also hit the gym 3x a week.
  14. my pre op diet was a protien drink for breakfast and lunch, and a piece of fish for dinner. Im not going to tell you to not listen to your suregons directions, but you don't need to do all liquids. Just low carb and high protein to shrink your liver.
  15. If your Dr cleared you for a marathon it does not mean you are ready. What was in your pureed diet? Soft foods is something you need to prep/train for in the pureed stage. I couldn't eat eggs for a while, I went back to oatmeal, and then I was able to tolerate eggs a few days later. Def keep challenging yourself but if you cannot tolerate it then take a step back. 2 steps forward 1 step back.
  16. 4 weeks of full liquids seems longer than most. And 4 weeks of purees in addition to that is way too much IMO. My nut said 2 weeks full liquids, then 2 weeks purees, then 4 weeks soft foods.
  17. I do egg beaters, I measure out 1/3 cup and that is perfect for me. I'm 18 days post op and today is the first day I was able to tolerate eggs.
  18. start with yogurt in the mornings, perfect consistency to start with and of course tastes great. then try oatmeal and add milk to even out the texture. you could also thicken up your protein drink by adding a scoop of oats. That's all I have for my 3 meals. The point is to prep your pouch for soft foods. So build yourself up slowly with thicker and thicker purees.
  19. calculate your BMI to help determine how many calories you need to eat to maintain your current weight. If you still need to lose weight then eat less than that number. At 1.5yrs out it's simple calories in vs calories out.
  20. I think oatmeal is great, add milk to get an even texture, this will def prep your stomach for soft foods. 3 days ago I tried eggs and it hurt going down. Went back to oatmeal for a few days. Tried eggs again today and I ate everything with no trouble.
  21. In these first 2 weeks I spit all the time. I feel like I have more saliva than ever.
  22. I have yogurt, oatmeal, and mashed up chicken noodle soup as my 3 meals, then I drink Water and maybe 1 Protein drink between meals.Start with very smooth purees like yogurt and then go thicker and thicker as you get more accustomed. If you don't like broth, buy Campbell's chicken noodle soup and just strain out the noodles, tastes much better IMO. Also cream of chicken is pretty good.
  23. im on day 14, i am able to eat a full campbells cream of chicken in one sitting. it's like 1 cup plus i add a 1/2 cup of water. had a full chicken noodle soup today also. i feel like i need to lay off the popsicles.
  24. im on day 14, i feel pretty much back to normal now. i am able to eat a full cream of chicken or chicken noodle soup in one stting. i feel like i can eat a lot have never thrown up from overeating. lost 11 pounds from a week ago also!
