    Pre-op diet or not?

FOLLOW YOUR SURGEONS INSTRUCTIONS. I KNOW EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. But we do need to have total confidence in our doctors. My doctor has only lost one patient and that is because she failed to follow his instructions. You won't regret the liquid diet it gives you a head start on the rest of your life because your diet will have to change for your lifetime.

    Feeling sick after eating

Check with your surgeon. I wasn't allowed to eat anything but pureed food for 4 weeks after surgery. The first 2 weeks were liquids only. I think you are not giving your system enough time to heal. There is still a great deal of inflammation.

200 lbs or more to lose?

You are going to be amazed at how fast the weight comes off. I can't stress enough how important it is to listen to your doctor completely. Your mind set needs to be where you can use this tool properly. This is a lifetime change and you need to be committed 200 %. There will be times when you will give in to cravings just remember to get back on track as soon as possible and not give in to old habits.
  4. FOR PICKNEYGAL: On the Puritans Pride web site it is called hair SKIN AND NAILS it is selling 3 for 14.97 that is 4.99 for each bottle. Here is the web site: http://search.puritan.com/search?w=hair%20skin%20and%20nails%20vitamins. They have several products to choose from.

Feel the need to go "Hog Wild"

You will be amazed at how easy this diet becomes as you go along. Keep in the forefront of your mind. THIS IS IMPORTANT, LIFE SAVING SO THE DOCTOR WON'T NICK MY LIVER WHEN HE IS DOING THE SURGERY. This will also prepare you for the liquid diet you will need to be on after surgery. My surgeon has only lost one patient and it was because she didn't follow his instructions to the tee. She told him she followed the liquid diet before but after her death, her family told him she had eaten solid food the 2 days before her surgery. One week after her surgery she went to eat with friends to a all you can eat buffet and ate 6 oz of chicken...................it killed her......................need I say more.............

Yes you have much to learn. And it is an amazing journey
  8. Number one is you and this is not an easy way out. There are so many changes you will have to make for the rest of your life. This is a tool just like the gym, the bicycle or any other thing that a person might use to help them lose weight or accomplish any given task. A seamstress needs a sewing machine. A mechanic needs a wrench. The pool person needs chemicals. A lawn person needs a riding lawn mower. Oh wait a minute that is the easy way out why doesn't the lawn person use the old push mower and I am not talking about one that uses gasoline, or why doesn't the lawn person use a pair of scissors to cut the grass? I am not saying the surgery is hard; because it isn't. It is the life time changes you MUST make that is difficult, not impossible. The easy way out would be to continue to gain weight until you die. Put your hand out and push the negative away and listen to that whisper coming through the back of your mind.........the one saying "I've got your back, I am here for you" and go to those group meetings for the support you need!! AND HERE WE ARE HERE FOR YOU
  9. consider all reasons for weight gain. It may just be fluid. Fall on the mercy of your surgeon. I am sure you are not the only patient who has gained. I did not gain I kept losing but it did take a year for me to meet all the requirements of my insurance company. I had to have a certain amount of visits to my doctor plus be cleared for surgery by a cardiologist, pulmonologist, endocrinologist, phsyc evaluation plus group sessions with other bariatric patients. Maybe your trip to the operation room will be a little longer than you thought but you can lose that Go on a liquid diet and mentally tell yourself your life depends on it because in the long run it does. Do the liquids for one week and see the results. Do protein shakes, broth, V8 juice, get balerina tea it works like you won't believe. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! I am not in Texas but that doesn't matter. YOU GO GIRL

    Frustrated

Don't stop until you find a surgeon and hospital that is accepted by your insurance. It took me 15 years to find an insurance company that would even consider covering the surgery. But I finally found it and it saved my life!! DON'T STOP UNTIL YOU GET THE SURGERY!!!!

    Bariatric Vitamins

It is important to get Vitamins that your body can assimilate properly. I found the only way to do that is to use liquid vitamins. You can find them on line at a reasonable price. vitacost.com is where I found reasonably priced vitamins. I use the Wellesse liquid but there are others. There are also chewables at the website that are easily assimilated.
  12. get a hair, skin and nails product. Puritan Pride has one that is reasonable in price. Biotin is good but this one is better. I had my surgery on 1/04/2014 and have lost a great amount of hair but is growing back. I am told it will grow back thicker. But start with this combo right now do not wait like I did. crush the tabs and put them in juice for better assimilation.

    Pre-Op Protein/Meal Replacement

My surgeon kept me on liquid diet for 6 weeks before surgery to shrink my liver. I was doing vegetable juices and broths. He recommended using PURE PROTEIN. It was good for me. i was 350 before my surgery and doing as he said I was 299 the day of my surgery.

    Converted 3-4-15

I had the sleeve on February 4, 2014 I weighed 350 in January of 2013. My surgeon wanted me to lose weight before the surgery and with his guidance I was down to 299 the day of my surgery. Today March 31,2015 I am at 210. I weighed 233 in November of 2014 and did gain weight over the holidays, but now I am back on track. The trick I used was to go back to the all liquid diet of juices, broths and Protein shakes. I had to portion the Protein Shakes because I can't drink a full shake at one time. It is important to only eat small amounts because if you overdo it you will regurgitate. I cannot, absolutely cannot drink before or after I eat for 30 minutes at least or else I will lose it. Keep up the good work and the weight will come off. Remember you have to move. Exercise is very important.
  15. I would love to see products to purchase on this site. So now I will wait to see what develops. Vitamins that are easy to assimilate is what I am most interested in. I am sure I will be a returning customer.
