Starting out at age 45? How common?
Sherry73 replied to KS123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had surgery at 40. -
Sherry73 started following Vaping and WLS, Starting out at age 45? How common?, protein shakes and and 4 others

I had the same issues. I only use syntrax nectar. They are lactose free and thinner. I like the chocolate truffle, road side lemonade, latte cappuccino, and the fuzzy navel. They have 23 grams of protein per scoop. They mix very smoothly. Here is the link to their web site. https://www.bariatricchoice.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/113961/

I would like to do this challenge. SW 185 GW 175. Thanks for keeping this going.
-
Still at 184. I missed goal by 4 pounds. I think stress from work has had a big impact on my weight loss the past few weeks. Time to buckle down and get the last few pounds off. Hopefully I will do better on Halloween Challenge.

Why can only 50-70% of excess weight be lost?
Sherry73 replied to BarnGirlWK's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a little over 9 months since surgery. I have lost 91% of the excess weight. I am hoping to be at 100% at the one year mark. I have had to work hard to get where I'm at. Not having any Thyroids has made the it a little harder. Doctors have been trying to get the right combination of meds to get thyroid counts were they should be. This has been an issue for over 14 years now. I only mentioned this to show that if I can get the weight off anyone that puts in the effort can do it. -

I have always loved to cook and have guests over. This has not changed since surgery almost 9 months ago. I love to try new recipes and make family favorites with fewer carbs and calories. my three boys and husband seem to get upset if I do not cook. I still make cakes, Cookies, brownies, dinner rolls, and other goodies. I just choose not to eat them. It does not bother me at all. I use splenda when baking instead of sugar. I have slowly changed things with how I cook and its better for everyone.

189 this morning. I might actually make goal this time.

My doctor would not allow even vaping. You had to be totally nicotine free for 30 days. I was vaping and slowly lowered the nicotine level until I was at zero.

Special K Protein Water? Fiber?
Sherry73 replied to MB40buf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are all thinner like tea and lemonade. I like the fuzzy navel, roadside lemonade, chocolate truffle, and cappuccino. I sometimes add crystal lite lemonade to the roadside lemonade. Then I mix the cappuccino with decaf coffee and little skim milk. I have also mixed the chocolate truffle with decaf coffee and skim milk. These are my favorite flavors and gives me enough of a variety that I don't get bored with them. I did just order the lemon tea flavor. I have a friend that loves it. Hopes this helps. -
Special K Protein Water? Fiber?
Sherry73 replied to MB40buf's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the Syntrax nectar. It is so much thinner than the regular Protein shakes. Here is the web site I order mine from. Also you can get 20.00 off your first order. https://www.bariatricchoice.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/113961/
