  1. How many days in advance should I stop the E-cigarette?
  2. I quit smoking (yay me!) and have been using the E-Cigarette. I have Pre-Op testing and blood work on January 9th. I don't think they're looking for nicotine, but if they are, I should be ok...right? By the way, what does Pre-Op testing consist of? How long did it take? Thanks for letting me babble about my personal issues lately. Take Care.

I too, am scheduled to have my Sleeve surgery on January 20th! I'm excited, scared and nervous all at the same time. Good luck to you!
  4. My Insurance approved me for surgery! My surgery date is January 20th. I have pre-op testing on January 9th and then I start my 10 day liquid diet (I'm not looking forward to that). Merry Christmas to me!!!!

Congrats. I am sure jan 20 th will get here soon. Keep yourself busy, in the meantime.

  6. Today I finished my last Nutrition class. Everything is done and my paperwork is going to be sent to my Insurance Companies for approval. I was told it would take a couple of weeks until I hear anything. I am hoping and praying I get approved. Dr. Medvetz (my surgeon) thinks my surgery will take place in mid-January. I have so many emotions running thru me and I really appreciate this support group. Any advice or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Take care!
  7. Possbile Sleeve surgery in mid-January! Waiting for Insurance approval.

  8. I'm so scared of this too. I would love to hear from people about this topic. I have a lot of hair and don't want to lose it.
  9. You look fantastic! I'm still in the pre-surgery stage. I'm awaiting insurance approval and the surgeon believes I'll be sleeved in mid-January. I hope I have the same success as you.
  10. 1. Any problems after having sleeve surgery? If so, what were they. 2. What can and can't you eat once you're allowed to eat solid foods. Thank You!
  11. Anyone have to do Nutrition classes? And so, did you actually gain weight instead of lose weight? I'm about to cry here. I have done everything what the Nutritionist has told me to do and I've done nothing but gain weight. It's very depressing!
  12. Smokers: How long did you quit before your surgery. I am having a rough time at it. I believe my surgery will be sometime in January if my insurance approves it (crossing fingers, praying). I know, I know, I better quit very soon if not sooner!
  13. How long after your surgery were you allowed to drive? I am hoping it's not that long, because I'll go crazy!

    Pysch Evaluation Question

Multiple choice. My test asked about me and how I think about certain things. My personality, if I am mentally stable, depression, anger and even my faith was mixed in.

    Pysch Evaluation Question

I had to do a written test too. It was like doing my SAT's again. It took about 1/2 hour.

    This Is Ridiculous!

Eating properly. Getting in protein. Avoiding sugars and processed food. How much you should be eating on a small plate. Preparing for post-surgery.

    Is It Normal?

If you read my ticker, it shows what I had (and still have) to get done. I have one more nutrition class on December 17th and then it goes to Insurance for approval. They are thinking I'll have sleeve surgery sometime in January (crossing fingers).

    Pysch Evaluation Question

My psych eval. was easy. I thought I was going to fail, but it seemed like I sailed thru it. Be honest, know your stuff about sleeve surgery and know that it's not an easy fix. You'll do fine!

    Is It Normal?

I too, am scared to death. I am very afraid of leakage and blood clots. My husband is not on board with this surgery. I think he's worried I am going to die. He also thinks I rushed into my decision, but he doesn't know just how long I've been thinking about this and doing research. I was originally going to go with the Lap Band, but after a ton of research and talking with those who had the sleeve, I believe I made the right choice.
  21. Wow! You look fabulous! I hope I have the same success as you.
  22. Anyone smoke? I am having a really hard time quitting. I quit for a while then started up again. I have a Pulmonary appointment this Monday. I hope I make it thru it ok. Anyone deal with smoking and the sleeve surgery at the same time? Any words of encouragement?
  23. Having a difficult time quitting smoking. Ugh!

Get a vape, a proper one, not those cheap drugstore ones. Go to an actual vapor store and get a kit. I've never smoked cigarettes and I use them, they are great! Also, it's a safe way for actual smokers to get their nicotine fix and their oral fixation sorted in one go instead of resorting to the cancer sticks.

I used e-cigs to quit. I agree, don't get the cheap drugstore ones, either. I used ProSmoke, which I ordered online after much research. It's the only way I was able to finally quit.

  24. Did/Does anyone have sleep apnea? Are you using the CPAP machine? If so, how long did you have to use it after surgery?
  25. Weight History from PCP - Done EGD - Done sleep Study - Done Lab Work - Done 3 Nutrition Classes - 2 of 3 done Psychiatric Consultation - Done Pulmonary Consultation - 11/18 I'll finish my last nutrition class in December. I don't have anymore requirements that need to be met. What is next? Does it all go to Insurance for approval? How long until my surgery do you all think?
