My sleeve was complete on the 27th, released 2 days later due to severe spasms when drinking. My surgeon did not want to release me from fear of dehydration. I'm finally home now, today is my last day of Clear Liquids. Full liquids during next 16 days then progress to soft foods. I still struggle to get in 96 ounces of liquids. The surgeon repaired a hernia that he said would've been bad if not repaired.

Blended vegetable Soup is on my list of full liquids. Does anyone have any blended Soup recipes? I don’t have a blender but willing to purchase one. Also, please share what has gotten you through this stage. I'm not hungry per se but I'm ready for the change in foods.

A blender would be a good investment. I blended whatever Soups I wanted to eat, but typically just strained off the broth and drank that.

  2. I was pretty much already at my goal weight when I had a revision from sleeve to RNY. Does anyone know what macros I should be eating to maintain my weight but do a body recomposition where I lose minimal weight but convert fat pounds to muscle? Is this a conversation for a nutritionist?

Hello I’m 10 days post op and I feel great, my only complaint is I’m sooo sick of sweet drinks ect. Suggestions ?

I feel you on the sweet stuff. I like taking a can of chicken noodle Soup and straining off all the broth and drinking that instead of another sweet shake. Also, if you're a thai food fan, straining Tom Kha Gai soup and drinking the broth is AMAZING.

Hi guys, new to this place, I just finished my surgery, Its been 8 days since surgery, I was 117.8kg (259lbs) before surgery and after 7 days I lost about 8.8kg (19lbs) but yesterday and today I started taking Protein Shake as the doctor advised me to do so and I am also adding thick liquids to my diet as I was told my dietitian and my doc, but since I started taking Protein Shakes, my weight loss has slowed down, like I was 109kg (240lbs) before starting protien shakes, and after it's been fluctuating for 2 days, today morning it was 108.5kg (239lbs) and after taking the shake in the morning and then checked my weight in the evening it was 109.2kg (240.7lbs), should I stop taking my Protein shake? Is weight fluctuations normal? How much weight did you guys lose in the first week of your surgery? Thanks for any help. 😁

It sounds like you're on the right track. As said before, your weight will be all over the place, especially during the first month. Lots of people weigh themselves weekly but I weigh daily; however, keep in mind that it's not always going to go down every single day. Hang in there and the weight will fall off.

Not sure there's much that can be done about this. Taking Gas-X will help you eliminate is easier, but the new stinky farts are here to stay.

This a million times! It can take as long as 2-4months to feel that restriction and have your tummy talkin' to your brain. That's why it's vital to ONLY eat the amount prescribed for your stage and don't allow "second helpings." Don't chase the full feeling. If you feel it, great, but if not, stop at your lower limit. If they give you a range of 1/8-1/4cup. Opt to do the 1/8cup. And try to stretch your eating window to 2hours in the early days rather than 1hour. That would be my advice.

I had the same issue with my RNY.

One wondering that I have is if I am somehow stretching or doing damage to my pouch? I would think that I would definitely know I'm overeating and causing damage, but I secretly worry that I'm overdoing it and am going to irreparably do damage.

    Hello All!

Hope all is well, So I had the VSG is TJ Mexico in 2016. I lost over 100 pounds. I have gained 70 back. So I went back to my original surgeon in TJ and he did a RYN bypass...or so I think I did. I had more restriction before I had the revision. I am at a loss. I wander if they did anything at all, I mean I am sore from the surgery and I feel like I had surgery but I feel hungry, don't really feel full. How am I suppose to loose this weight??? If I had to do it all on my own than what was the point of the surgery? Sorry y'all I am just venting and really worried. Can anyone share their input?

I feel the exact same way. I had a sleeve to RNY revision and I worry about my restriction. I have no restriction on liquids and feel like I'm eating way too much. I've been told that once I'm on solid foods that the restriction will become evident. I'm hungry to. I've found that eating something small once an hour helps. I've been living off of yogurt and salmon for the last week. I doubt that either of us had a fake surgery, but that's what it feels like sometimes. I had the revision at 178 pounds (for GERD) and have lost 5 pounds in two weeks. I don't want to go below 160, but I think that's going to take some time.

I think we need to just take deep breaths, follow our doctor's orders, and trust in the process. It's going to be okay.

  8. Has anyone in the forums had a sleeve/RNY/whatever and later put on muscle? I'm looking to pick someone's brain about how to put on muscle (which requires extra calories). I'm going to a gym today for a tour and am going to hire a personal trainer until I've learned the ropes and feel comfortable that I can workout alone and without the accountability of a trainer.

    Any thoughts will help.

    Thanks.

Surgery tomorrow. Just liquids today. I had headaches and nausea every day on the pre-op diet.
I just want to wake up and be okay and not in a ton of pain.

So scared. So ready. Starting to crash at work on just fluids so I am working through lunch and going home early.

Hang in there. I've had a sleeve and a revision to RNY and both times pain control was very effective. I wouldn't worry about the pain.

  10. I'll be at two weeks on Tuesday. I have no problem drinking anything, I can drink A LOT. I can also eat a lot more than I expected, but I'm being careful not eating until I'm full. I have just yet to feel a restriction.

    Normal?

Surgery is scheduled for 02/24. I have been battling a cold for the last few days. Woke up with sore throat and ear pain. Got examined and looks just viral. I just feel discouraged to be sick days before surgery. Just want everything to go as planned. Anyone been a little sick but still recover well?

I was sleeved when I had a minor cold with cough. I didn't tell the doctor because I didn't want to be rescheduled. The coughing made recovery a little bit more miserable but I'm glad I went through with it.

  12. I am consistently getting a sharp stabbing pain under one incision. It happens maybe twice a day. I walk through it but am not sure if that's what is making it go away. It's right under my ribs. I'm a week post-op and assumed that gas pain would be done by now.

Anyone else getting stabbing pains at random times?

That's great! How are you feeling?

I feel like a million bucks. When I had my sleeve done 6 years ago I was in terrible ain, was very nauseous, and vomiting. Not this time! The changed the medications they used and thin time was great. I was admitted at 10:45 in the OP by 1pm. I was discharged less than 24 hours later.
