  1. Check out BariatricChoice.com and BariatricEating.com
  2. Read "The Sleeved Life". It's a great book. I think whether you keep it off depends on the amount of work you do to take it off and keep it off after you're sleeved. You'll hear a million times that it's a tool. It's up to a person who has it in how you use it. That's the same with RNY as well.
  3. Oh I see...I agree....you don't need the added worry in addition to the anxiety about the surgery itself and it's frustrating when you're so close and someone else has control over you getting it or not. Hope it all works out.
  4. If you're self pay why do you need pre approval from the insurance???
  5. My insurance will only approve it being done at a Center of Excellence as well.
  6. I can't wait to get Sleeved either. So happy for you!!!
  7. I wasn't required to lose anything I turn in my paperwork for approval next week.
  8. That's exactly how I feel. I'm very proud of my decision but will pick and choose who I tell and when.
  9. I know exactly how you feel!
  10. I too would like to know how things turned out for you with your surgery?
  11. Looking at myself in a mirror and smile.
  12. Appreciate this time. I had to wait 3 months and it's the most valuable three months I could have spent. I have researched and researched and even was able to change my mind of wanting RNY to wanting The Sleeve. That wouldn't have happened had I not have this time to read, research and talk to people on the forums. Next thing I know I will be done with my 3 months next week. It flew by.
  13. Feels exciting doesn't it!!!
  14. Congratulations! I don't have bcbs but will be submitting my paperwork to Cigna next week. Can't wait til this part is over. I know you are excited to start this journey!!! WooHoooo
  15. Congratulations and thank you so much for your post. I'm pre op so I love to hear the positives as well. I love your enthusiasm about your new journey.
  16. Thanks so much everyone for responding. This has been an interesting discovery for me. And I agree PdxMan. I will question my doctor. For right now he thinks I'm still pursuing RNY so it has never come up regarding the Sleeve.
  17. WooHooooo! Congratulations
  18. I wanted to get RNY for many many months and that's where I did most of my research but recently changed my mind and decided I wanted the Sleeve. One of the reasons is that arthritis runs in my family and I deal with foot pain after hard workouts and have had two foot surgeries. I didn't want to close that door and not be able to take Aleeve, ext. Tylenol doesn't do much for me. On another forum I learned that Sleevers are being advised from their discharge instructions not the take NSAIDs. I saw it on a post so I put the question out there. I got 13 responses from various people from different states, different hospitals and one person who got their surgery in Mexico and all of them were told No NSAIDS. Did you all get the same information?
  19. I have Cigna and will be submitting my paperwork to my surgeon on Oct. 2nd to send to Cigna.
  20. I'm confused. Why would you not go through the required 6 months supervised weight loss?
