BRIAN, Hi, I am from Kansas City and had the lap band done in Jan of 08. Although my insurance"might" have paid for my procedure, I was unwilling to wait the 9-12 + months they required for supervised dr visits, nutritionalist and physcoligist visits. I decided to self pay. I like, you looked at two or three different Weight loss surgical Doctors. I was discouraged with one,the other surgery center just flat out lied to me just to get me in for consultation visit $150. out of my pocket. I then found Dr. Malley. I went with him. He has a free siminar, I was soooo impressed with him... Still am. He is wonderful, along with his staff. I ended up using half savings and putting the other half on a "very low" intrest credit card. You know.. I used the little checks they send you. I can not and did not put a price on my health, a family history of diabeties scared me to death. 9 months out and the only regret I have is that I would have done it earlier. Ok,, my two cents worth. The only regret that I have is that I would have done it sooner. I looked into it 5 or 6 years ago when it was new to my area. There was alot of shit that you had to do before you could even see a Dr. The other regret is that I did not understand that you would be hungry until you got RESTRICTION, and that restriction could take MONTHS. Each and every person is different, for me it took about 3 months. That being said..... to be able to lose weight with out being hungry is mind boggleing. Like the others have said, it is mind set. YOU HAVE TO BE READY TO MAKE CHANGES. Now that I have lost, it does not matter to me that I cant eat or drink certain things. The changes are SOOOOOOOOO worth it. Everyone is different on what they can and cant eat and drink anymore. I chose not to drink soda anymore. It is just not worth the feeling of being overfull and belching. I CHOSE not to eat alot of pasta and rice, not a big bread person so that does not matter. Have tried toast and it was not good. It is an awsome journey... ARE YOU READY? LOIS:smile2:

It is just My boyfriend and I, but yes I eat the same thing I fix him. With the exception of bread. when I fix him rice or pasta dishes, I make sure I eat enough protein and veggie, and then have a very, very small spoonful of the carbs. I usually can not eat warmed over meat... no matter what it is. No matter how tender a cut, even adding liquid does not help. On those nights, I have a lettuce salad and put cottage cheese on it for my protein.

Hi all, I just want to add one little thing. I had to do a two week liquid diet, so the night before I went to my favorite barbaque place for all you can eat ribs....As funny as it sounds, I did not enjoy it. Therefor, I did not over eat. I dont know what the deal was. Being almost 10 months since I started my journey, I can truely say that I could probably eat anything I wanted. With the exception on Bread.. I can not do bread. The Weird thing is... "and this is my little thing to add" Your wants change, food that I would have died for before the band... does not apeal to me now. I work hard when out eating to make very good choices, you can do it.. it just takes looking over EVERY single thing on the menu. You will find things there you didnt know was on there. The only thing I really miss, that I can not do is soda. I was a die-hard diet cherry coke gal, and I just can not do the carbonation. I have tried opening it and letting it sit... everything. it just makes me sick ;-( Good luck to all of you. Stay with the band rules, and know that you dont have to give up everything. Lois

Hello, I have seen before,during and after in front of a door. turned out really good. Personally, I like different cloths each time. to show the figure that is emerging. I would do front view, side view, back view. One thing I wish I had done was to measure at the very begining. I usually try and get the same person to take the pics each time. She knows how I want them. lois

HI, I just wanted to add my thoughts. The first few months were so hard for me, I barely saw the scales move and was soooo freaken hungry. Until you get good restriction, I think this is normal. "Wish I had Known". I stayed with the Band rules, only allowed my self to eat a certain amount. I did not eat any starches... noneeeeeeee. I focused on my protein and veggies. I ate alot of fish, tuna, canned chicken. Also depended on Cottage cheese, egg salad. Just keep it up. IT WILL HAPPEN. I just really wish I had measured from the begining. I think that would have helped me when the scale was sitting still. Good luck and keep with the Band Rules. Lois
