Never fear Britt...yes, everyone will probably have a second, a third, a fourth, etc on the stalls. When I spoke to my NUT, she explained that the weight loss is not a straight line down, but more like stairs. Lose some...stall out...lose some...stall out. She explained that when your body loses the weight, it has to keep making adjustments (which translates into stalls). Once it has adjusted to the new 'state of affairs', then the weight will start moving again...just in time for another stall.
I had a very long one at 3 weeks, and then another one last week (I am 9 weeks post op tomorrow).
Hang in there! Keep doing what you're doing, and it'll come off!

    Hi Imsexywhenimme!
NOTHING IS WRONG WITH YOU!! You and I are just at the begininng of a NEW JOURNEY!!

I am on my 3rd week post op. I lost 19 lbs in the 1st 2 weeks and none so far in 5 days! They call this a "stall" It freaked me out because I wasnt informed before hand that "stalling" is normal during sleeve weight loss. I weighed this morning and did lose 1 more pound!!!! I also pooped on my own last night YAY!!! I also learned that not pooping is also an issue for lots of sleevers post op! This is what I have learned so far in my own personal 3 weeks of experience LOL !
    1. For my Clear liquid diet I was allowed my Protein shakes. Which helped with hunger. Drink your fluids 64 oz per day and Protein atleast 60grams per day per my doctor . I drink a combination of these shakes below during the day to make the 60 grams and they keep me full!
    a. Favorite Protein drinks so far
    1) Muscle Milk 32grms of protein per 2 scoops mixed in 8 oz of Water. Flavors: Graham Cracker, banana Creme lots more flavors avail online.
    2) MP Combat Protein powder Cookies and cream 25gm per one scoop
    3) Syntrax nectar "Fuzzy Navel" 23 grams of protein per scoop. This one is almost just like ORANGE JUICE!!! so its something different from the milky type flavors. They also have one thats like ice tea but havent tried it yet.
    2. Stalls: Stalls are a period of non- weightloss. I used to call these "plateaus" when I was dieting. Didnt even imagine it could happen with the sleeve! but it is a period of time when I guess your body is reorganizing and restabilizing so we don't just waste away and get into some metabolic crisis. I've read that these stalls can last for a few weeks! (eek!) But when my next stall happens I am going to HIDE MY scale and weigh only once a week.
    3. Pooping. Sometimes it can take awhile to poop after sleeve surgery. Lots of times we have been on liquid diets pre op and ofcourse post op and some of us had to take a powerful laxative prior to surgery and there is just nothing to poop. I did not poop x 14 days!!!!! I didn't even feel like I needed to! I had rumbles and gas so I knew my bowels werent locked. I took Milk O' Mag like my doc said and still nothing! Finally on day 14 my Doc gave me a sample of Amitiza and it worked. It took 2 doses and it was not pleasant! I dry heaved with the waste basket in my lap and pooped pure muddy liquid over a couple of hours. (Ugh) Dry heaves scared me but no harm done, now 5 days later I had my own NORMAL poop. So call your doctor if you become uncomfortable.
    4. Head hunger. Being sleeved over the holidays had its pros and cons. I didn't gorge myself to death on all the goodies so I didn't gain my holiday 20. But I would SEE the food and WANT the food and THINK I was hungry for it but when I checked my Stomach it wasn't hungry AT ALL. It was my HEAD that wanted it!!!! Im learning the difference now and it's hard!
    5. HONESTY:
    A. I have put food in my mouth (the perfect prime rib I cooked for everyone at Christmas) Chewed it and spit it out. I did the same with the home made mac and cheese I made for everyone. Dangerous thing because if I had swallowed it a chunk could have got stuck in my stomach incision and caused a life threatening abcess.
    B. I got so upset about not losing weight this week (stall) that I went to Sonic yesterday and got a chocolate carmel sundae (no chunks right) and ate 4-6 big bites of it fast (EMOTIONAL EATING). It made me SICK. I was sweaty, weak, cramping stomach and had to lay down for almost an hour. I HOPE I NEVER DO THAT AGAIN.
These are just my experiences. I wish I had known some of this beforehand. Thursday will be week 4 and I can start some pureed foods and soft foods. I found a website last night called thewordaccordingtoeggface.com. It's a lady who had bariatric surgery and she has some AWESOME EASY recipes and also valuable tips for us and LIVING after bariatric surgery. Check it out!!
I'm going today to GNC to find the Isopure Water. I think it has 40gms of protein per 16oz. I hope some of this helps you!! Let me know what you discover during your journey as we are traveling a parallel path!!!!!!

Hi all. First day post op. not doing too bad at all. Pain in my back as well as gas pain in my stomach but its manageable. Going soon to get an X-ray and do a barium swallow test. As long as that turns out okay I can start on liquids. Best of all, I could sleep on my side! When I got lapband, I didn't dare dream to roll on my side because I knew how badly it hurt. Excited to get this weightloss ball rolling.

    Hello Erin
I am so EXCITED for you...I went from band to sleeve 1-07-14 and LOVE it! No more acid reflux and no more stupid band issues! My band was either too tight, threw up all the time or too lose!
And out of all the surgeries in my lifetime, it was by far the best and had the quickest recovery! Less pain than the band!!
I am down 19lbs and feel great most days but am tired a lot...most likely due to the change in my diet.
You will LOVE the Sleeve! so much nicer and man do I get full faster and none of that food getting stuck in my sternum - hated that with the band.
Post Op= you will be tired and won't really want to drink much but you will have to make yourself...LOTS of Protein shakes ready in your fridge, along with Jello, apple juice, yogurt and bottles of Water. Most important you need a good laxative...Milk of Magnisia (sp) or Colace.
Post on here when you're post op so I know how you are doing.
You will get to have some broth and even some Soup after surgery - I had Tomato and let me tell you after fasting before surgery you will think its awesome!
No need for nerves you will do GREAT!
    Take Care
    Debbie

I work out 4x a week, I think that helps, but I think getting the water in really makes a big difference too. I generally drink between 80 and 960z, but no less than 80oz.

I'm still in my stall since the 13th of January. I was watchn the end of Wendy Williams show today n she had Dr. Ian on there promoting his shred diet. He actually stated that during the 3 rd week most all people will either stall or weightloss slows down. So evn on non surgical diets, if u will, the body still responds the same. So that made me feel pretty cool knowing that its just the way the body works, not just bc we had wls! Just thot I'd share that. Gla, n gr8 numbers:)) God Bless.

Don't forget ladies, put menstrual cycle can affect our weight as well. I only weigh myself once a week to avoid the heartache. Remember, we are doing this to be healthy and not to rely on what the scale tells us to determine our happiness. I've hit a few stalls and try to stay positive about it. The weight will come off, just keep doing what you're doing. Focus on health!!

Don't be discouraged if you have stalled. I stalled for 14 days (during weeks 2 & 3) but the weight is coming off again!! It is just your body trying to protect you from possible starvation/dehydration. Be kind to it. xoxo to all.

I too wish the weight was coming off a little faster but I guess slowly but surely is how I will roll. Either way as long as it comes off, in the end it doesn't matter much and I will take it however it comes.

I went to a support group meeting tonight (they are held twice a month by the NUT and the Nurse). This question came up tonight..and they explained your body is adjusting. It has gone through trauma, has dumped its Water weight and now must shift into burning actual fat. This causes it to pause and say hey wait a minute this is something new and I have to take a minute and reconfigure myself. For later stalls, it's just a matter of the body again catching up and readjusting itself.
Ultimately it breaks though. The advice given was just continue to work the program, make sure you're getting your Protein, Vitamins and water in and the scale will eventually move again because it is not possible for it to stand still forever with the amount of food you're taking in (if done properly and you're not in starvation mode). Myself and several others asked about upping our calories because we're working out 4-5 dyas a week and the NUT said you absolutely must. (okay so my trainer was right..lol..still glad I asked though) He said, if you're eating only 700 alories and burning 500, you're going to put your body in starvation mode and it will hold onto every thing. He also said the ceiling for those working out should be 1200 calories per day because as you gain muscle it will continue to burn calories 24 hours a day. Otherwise you will get weak and tired.
Sorry about the ramble..but I really enjoyed the support group, got a lot of info and made some new friends, locally.

    Hey December Sleevers!
    I'm so excited I had to share! First stats - Sleeved 12/3 - Starting weight 271 - Surgery weight 239 - Today's weight 219.
You know those couple of expensive, classic dresses/pants etc you've kept in your closet for 10+ years -just in case you ever get back to a smaller size? (Or perhaps you've subconsciously kept them for mental torture reminding you of what you no longer are?) I tried them on this morning... And THEY FIT!!!! ( With some room to spare!) I've gone from a tight size 20 to a... 14. Amazing! My reaction is odd tho... Excited but very teary at the same time. I've got to look into what this emotion is I guess!
I should also mention, I'm starting to get a lot of the "OMG you look great" comments from coworkers and them asking me to share what I've been doing. So far I've just been saying I've assembled a WL team of doctor, nutritionist and trainer and working hard. It's not a lie... Just not the whole truth. we'll see how long I can get away with that!
To those of you just sleeved or still struggling hang in there! I'm cheering for ya! This journey is amazing!
