  1. Okay. It's been 24 hours since I got my sleeve! My arms look like human pincushions' date=' and I'm still on and off nauseous. The pain was actually a lot worse than I expected it to be, but already today as opposed to yesterday it's so much better, is improving by the hour. I'm really trying hard to push myself, trying to move around as much as possible, use the incentive spirometer. I was unable to pee after surgery yesterday, that was a big bummer and I had to have a catheter inserted and removed- but now I'm finally able to go on my own. My surgeon pulled the NGT this morning (it drained old blood all last night) and now I'm just waiting for the leak test... If all goes well I'll be starting sips of Water soon! My belly is grumbling big time- definitely hungry, but I'm wicked nervous to put anything in it so soon... I guess I have to start sometime though! If there is one thing I have learned in the past 24hrs is that although this is NOT easy, I am sososo happy and excited for my second chance :) sending love and prayers to my fellow October sleeves, wouldn't mind some being sent back this way as well![/quote']

So glad that you are beginning to feel better. I think each person experiences different levels. My sleeve date is next Tuesday. I am ready and hope to have a fairly un eventful surgery.

  2. Just did my first CHG shower and things are finally starting to get real... Surgery tomorrow morning' date=' I have to be at the hospital by 6 AM. It's crazy, I have not been nervous until now. But I'm still not really nervous, because I know it's the right thing to do-- I only got a little freaked out as I ate my last meal... ( i've been allowed three Protein meal replacements and one meal per day) , while I know the liquids are only for a few weeks, The thought that I may not be up to eat some of my favorite foods ever again after that is terrifying!!! I feel really ready though, and I've such a great support system between my family and friends, and online boards-- you all have been so great! Starting weight: 276, Current weight (after 2 week diet): 259, Goal weight: <175[/quote']

Please don't focus on not being able to eat favorite foods again. I feel your concern but I know I can have some later but much less!

  3. My blood pressure has been running around 106/66 since I discontinued my bp meds I was on for years. PCP and weight loss clinic said that it's fine. I don't feel light headed even though it's a lot lower than I used to run. Hope you resolve your issues.

I was told to definitely see my family physician at week three after surgery as changes may have to be made in my regular meds (BP, cholesterol ) as the weight loss might affect it. This is in addition to my follow up by my surgeon. He wanted "two sets of eyes on me". I'm not sleeved until the 22nd but have set up my appt.

  4. I work with someone that just had the sleeve' date=' all I hear him saying is how drained he feels. My question is what was your experience, how long was it before you felt like your energy levels where normal or better again.[/quote']

I haven't been sleeved yet but yesterday during my pre-admission class I was told to expect to feel fatigued and a bit tired. This will change as you walk and move about.

  5. Hello my wonderful Oct Sleevers!!!! My surgery is scheduled for Oct 22 and I'm currently doing my 2wk liquid pre-ops. Can I just tell you I'm 5 days in and this plain SUCKS! I know this is somehting I have to do and is for my own good' date=' but OMG. Anywho... the first few days (Mon-Wed) I was only able to get 2 shakes down and I had maybe 3 tablespoons of veggies. I needed that chewing motion badly. Please tell me that that is is all normal and that I'm not the only one that this has happened to..?? Thurs was the first day I was able to actually do shakes for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it looks like today will be another successful day. Other liquids include Water, non-calorie drinks (crystal light), brother and Jello. How much weight is expected to be lost..? Ive heard 10-20lbs from my Dr's office. I havent weighed myself, but I feel lighter and my clothes are fitting better. Thanks for all your input and encouragement!! Lei[/quote']

Hi, I am being sleeved on Oct. 22 also and will start my 7-dAy liquid diet. Same things as you. So looking forward to that date. Will be in the hospital 3 days. My doc prefers this.
