  1. I am 68 and 3.5 weeks out. I have lost 14 lbs. since my pre op weight. I had a complication so I really feel I am only 2 weeks out. I expect that I may lose a bit slower than the younger folk on the forum. I have not began my exercise program yet because I was just released to drive, etc yesterday. I plan to attend my Silver Sneakers exercise program as they have a one hour chair based exercise and then I will walk on the treadmill for as long as I'm comfortable. Based on my doctor's goal I have 100 lbs to lose. I figure I will do this journey at about 2/3 the pace of the young folk. LOL

  3. Hi fellow sleevers. I am 68 and was sleeved October22. It has been quite a journey. My doctor found a hernia that he repaired then I had a problem with making sure my system was working to move food etc. through my body right, plus some extra bleeding. Stayed in the hospital an extra week. Now I am home and am currently doing pretty good. On a full liquid diet and I am so tired of that. I see my surgeon on Wednesday and prayerfully I hope to move to puréed food. I focus on staying hydrated as this is really important to me. I have began to hate Protein drinks so I think I will do better with powders and soft food.

I know in the future I will be happier with this process but right nowI can't be its best cheerleader. I am losing but quite frankly I have only gotten on the scale once. I will wait until I see my doctor and go from there.

I hope you are all doing well. I know ultimately this was a right decision!

  4. Well' date=' maturity is in the eye of the beholder. I am aiming at being neither "old" or "mature".[/quote']

68 and had surgery yesterday. So far so god.feeling sore today because the doctor found a haitial hernia and took care of it. Pain meds really helps.

  5. Akanush' date=' you and I are definitely sleeve sisters. What time do you have to be at the hospital tomorrow? I have to be there for 8am. I wish you the best for both of us tomorrow. See you on the loser side![/quote']

Good morning. I have to be there at 8. I am getting ready now. Have to take a second antiseptic shower. Will check in once I am at the hospital. PRAYERS AND BEST WISHES TO YOU AS WELL.

  6. I have surgery at 11:30 on Monday. I am SO nervous. I love eating good yummy food. And I've been on my liquid diet since oct 9 th and although some days are easier than others. Sometimes I'm so hungry I will cry and get very upset at family around me. People say I won't be hungry after surgery but after starving for these past days I just can't believe that. Is anyone else worried that they won't be able to eat the things they love???

I am not concerned about that. I am scheduled for the 22nd at 10:00. My surgeon and NUT both emphasize that some foods might not taste the same but actually the bottom line is the sleeve can't stop us from eating most of what we love but is a tool to keep us from eating as much.

  7. BT dubs...I am getting sleeved on 10/21. I am on day 6 of my 10 day pre op liquid diet. Hasn't been easy but I am doing it. I am going to do all of it' date=' and get where I dream of being! Good luck to you, I am sure you will be there too!!![/quote']

I am being sleeved. onOct 22. I also had about with pulmonary embolism in January and am onWafarin. I regularly have my INR checked and am wondering if you had to do the lovanox shots after surgery for a while instead of the warfarin pills. My doctor is having a vascular specialist insert a screen to keep any clots formed from traveling. I am hoping for a successful surgery but kind of dread the shots again.

  8. Hello everyone. Im up this morning trying to wrap my mind around my slow loss. Im 6wks post op (sleeved 9/10)and Ive lost only 15 pounds since preop. My doc told me I have 60 more pounds to go but this is really slow. Since 2011' date=' my grand total for weight loss is 42 pounds. I definitely feel better but I dont know what I am doing wrong. I feel restriction in my tummy and still get constipated a lot. I take MOM, all Vitamins and fiber supplements, exercise, and eat very little. I havent had juice, sweets, rice, pasta or much of anything. I eat a boiled egg for breakfast or 5 bites of grits/scrambled eggs. For lunch, a small piece of meat or few shrimp. Snack...boiled egg and dinner some type of meat and maybe a few bites of mashed potatoes. I finish all meals by 7 pm. Im not even eating 700 or 800 calories a day. Im considering going bk to liquids for some meals. I just dont know what to do anymore... :([/quote']

A lot of folks on here up their calories a bit and it seems the weight loss picks up. You might try that.
