Good luck tomorrow . You will be fine. -
I completed pre admission testing and final meeting with NUT today. My doctor says no straw, I will go home with a drain, leaving the hospital on full liquids after a three day stay. Do not have to do a pre op diet, just clear liquids day before. Have to practice building lungs at home with a spirometer, and on morning of surgery bathe or shower and then wipe your stomach with antiseptic wipes twice (he provided packages of these). I will take lovanox shots because I had blood clots previously and take Coumadin. Can't wait for Oct. 22.

I am 68and will be sleeved on Oct. 22. No one has mentioned any age limit but there is a group of folks on here that are in their 70's. Look in "age specific gastric sleeve groups". Good luck. I definitely felt this was the best surgery for me at this time.

Me to. -
You are the only one who knows what will be best for your body and your life. I have friends who had the sleeve or RNY. After three to five years they gained a little weight (5-15 lbs.) and they feel like this is ultimately where they belong. My doctor has set my goal at 140 after I'm sleeved in two weeks. I'm going for it!

Best of care to all you Oct. 7 sleevers. Praying for surgical mercies and steady hands.

My Gastric Sleeve Story 9-26-2013
akusah replied to Powderkeg42's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi powder keg, I understand about your daughter. I am older, 68, and my daughter is trying to accept that I am going to do third. My son and grandson are fine. I haven't told my best friend because she is adamantly against the surgery. I have other issues and want to enjoy these later years of my life. You will be great . -
4 weeks post op and eating too much!
akusah replied to ajames's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it will work out. However for those of us waiting to be sleeved, 22 lbs. since 8/20 sounds great. That is about 3.5 lbs. a week. I hope I do as well. -
I just thought about this after reading this thread. I normally have Thanksgiving at my house, which is the largest. It is important that I have it again as this will be our first Thanksgiving without my mother and the others grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. I will cook the Turkey and make gravy & stuffing. I will ask the others to bring sides. I will just be four weeks out from surgery . I hope I can have a taste of gravy and a well puréed vegetable.

What do you hate about being overweight?
akusah replied to Disabledaccount's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just thought of my other hates. I hate that when I am on vacation, I'm over the weight limit for things like "parasailing" or when cruising I can't sign up for certain shore excursions because again I'm over the weight limit.
