    Coffee Question.,,

I guess every doctor is different. I was told NO Caffeine EVER. I quit pre-surgery, because I had to. I luckily only drink coffee for taste and love decaf. Reading many food posts I realize my doctor is very strict on the "Lifetime diet", which is Stage IV.

    Thanksgiving Challenge

HW 207 CW 166 Thanksgiving goal 160 I hope I make it, not sure.
  3. I am with you 100%. I like weighing myself everyday. The scale is not my enemy. The only time in my life I stopped weighing myself was when I first met my husband. Typical romance bliss. Finally I weighed myself 2 years later and I was obese. Bottom line is the scale is just another tool in my tool box.

    this may start a riot.

I feel you. I got called a hater cause I did not want to eat popcorn. What I have learned thus far is that are journeys are different. And the rules are there to help us and the bottom line is we have to figure it out ourselves. What works and what doesn't can be different for different people. It is not exact science. It is very emotional because no one wants to fail.

    September sleevers

let me clarify that is not 35lbs in a month. 35lbs in 1 month for me would be way more than I am expected to lose in a month since my total weight loss needed is 87lbs. My doctor expects me to lose 10lbs in October, November and December then 5lbs each month thereafter until I get under 130. But let me post my weights with dates:August 1st start of program HW 207 September 23 surgery weight 189 CW 172 When anyone loses 30lbs in a month it is huge. I am just happy with each pound I lose. I can't compare myself to others.

HW 207 CW 172 Sleeved 9/23 Losing slowly.
  11. This is what Bob Harper said in August, "It is all about your diet, I use to think a long time ago you could beat everything you eat out of you and that is just not the case." I have to agree with Bob Harper. I personally know that my journey will be slow will always be about my diet. I just purchased 3 books online that deal with best recipes for weight loss surgery patients, what to do when you hit a plateau and a book about Protein counting. I need extra help. I do believe in exercise because as my weight falls off I need to rebuild muscle otherwise my body will look worse. I feel your frustration my belly skin will probably have to be cut off when I reach goal weight. I figure been fat for 7 years that belly won't bounce back on its own. And I won't have hanging skin. But I am not there yet still have a good 50lbs of fat to lose all over. I am 5.1 1/2 so being short I feel that my dream would be 110. Just hang in there. Know that you are not alone in your feelings and never give up.
  12. You are not a failure. Look at how much you have lost.

    Enabling addictions

I just got more hate posts in the "popcorn forum" . I need to stay positive and talk to people who understand that slippery slope of rewarding one's self with food. I know my food triggers and I know personally I can not go there. Maybe they don't have food addictions, but they are very angry about popcorn and pizza.

    Enabling addictions

I agree with you about enabling addictions. I just got told by someone that "they don't like me" because I do not believe in rewarding myself with food. I believe that this is our golden opportunity and "honeymoon period" to change our behavior. Evryone is losing weight in the begining and it does it matter how much we lose, but what does matter is our relationship with food. Since we need food to survive it is so hard to beat this addiction. I have to treat food like fuel for my body. Not a reward for a good workout or a reward for an accomplishment. These posts are to help each other and not to be haters. But I will not urge people to do the wrong thing, because I want everyone to succeed.

Congrats on your weight loss, but get back to me when you are 5 years out.

    popcorn.

I know that popcorn is not allowed. And why do so many of us have different information from our NUTs? It is because the data on the VSG is still too new and I believe that all NUTs are not the most informed or the best at giving advice. I did not go through this process to break rules or reward myself with food. I told myself on Day 1 at the first seminar that I would not be one of those people in the 25% group who failed. This is from my doctor. Blockage of the anastomosis (connection between the stomach pouch and the small intestine) may occur if fibrous or tough foods are eaten. Fibrous foods include: dry or tough meat, coconut, hot dog skins, nuts, seeds, popcorn, and skins of some fruit and vegetables. If food has blocked the anastomosis try adding one spoonful of Adolf's meat tenderizer to 1/4 cup warm water and sip slowly. If the vomiting continues throughout the day, stop eating solid foods and sip only clear liquids for the next 4 hours. If vomiting continues for more than 24 hours, call your doctor. Continued vomiting may indicate that the outlet from your stomach pouch into your small intestine has become blocked and you may be at risk for dehydration. Sometimes blockages must be remove using an instrument called an endoscope that is passed through your mouth into your stomach. The best way avoid to avoid this is to chew all foods to the consistency of baby food, and avoid food that are fibrous or hard to digest. In some cases, the outlet to the small intestine becomes narrowed over time even though you are following the dietary guidelines. This condition is called stenosis
  17. I know that stalls are inevitable, but I am so happy right now I do not want to stall yet. Tomorrow is the start of my 3rd week and I want to prevent a stall if that is possible. I have monthly goals and I know that the sleeve is just a "tool" and not the answer. I will continue to measure all my food out. Weigh myself in the morining, and make sure that my fitbit says 10,000 steps. On wednesday I should get cleared for exercise. I know where I failed in the past (life before sleeve) I wont let that happen again. My doctor gave my 6 colored pictures of my insides (gall bladder, stomach before and after and all the mounds of belly fat!) those pictures are my motivator. It has been such a long time since I felt this good and I am only just begining my journey!
  18. I am sure I will stall. I just hope it is later. I am a slow loser which I am cool with. I don't drop huge numbers but I expected that. As long as I am dropping something.

    September 23rd sleevers!

I got back yesterday. I am super sore on the incision where my stomach was removed but the rest of me is fine. No Gas problems or eating issues. I am very tired. The cool thing was my surgeon gave me 6 colored photos of my insides. I saw my stomach before and after. I saw my gall bladder. I saw the staples and the way he sews it over again. The part that was the most fascinating with me was my fat, The pictures only confirm my decision, my organs are swimming in belly fat. I hope everyone is having a speedy recovery.
