Haha' date=' as soon as you walk in the door from the hospital right? Lol[/quote']
Pretty much!! Thankfully, my youngest is 12, so she is pretty self-sufficient.

Dr. Torquati (associated with Duke Hospital) was awesome!! The staff in the office is friendly, helpful and courteous. The process was fast and very informative. I highly recommend Duke Metabolic Center.m

My surgery was 11 days ago and I am so glad that I did it. The process seems intimidating, but the end results are so worth it!!

Only you can decide if it is right for you. For me, I have a wonderful extended (in-law) family and they totally support me with my decision. I pray that my sister in laws family (hubby, his sister and niece) will make the decision to do it as well, but it is a personal choice that nobody should make you feel guilty for.
Do your research, talk to a few doctors, go to a support group meeting. Only you know what's best for you.

I agree! I feel that I made the right decision. They never once apologized nor did she call me back after I left message saying I was cancelling! I am tempted to go there tomorrow' date=' sign a release and ask for my file so that I can begin my journey elsewhere![/quote']If you didn't feel 100000% comfortable with the doctor, then you made the right decision. When the time is right, it will happen. Prayers for you and for continued strength!!

I'd love to get in a group. My email is funmama1@yahoo.com. I'm on fb' date=' but keeping this journey private. [/quote']Mine is not a private journey... I am blessed that I was able to do this. My husband is planning to go in for his in March. I feel blessed that his entire family is supportive since they all know the medical reasons.
I wish you lots of luck and know that we are all here to support each other!

Sassy sleevers on Fb is great' date=' and I have a separate September sleevers group. Just email me your address and I'll add you.I had surgery Monday. Today is a great day, but it's still hard to get Protein and Water in. I'm on full liquids for a month and I don't think those include mashed potatoes or cottage cheese. But! I'm ok with that because it sounds horrible right now.
Anyone off pain meds? I think I will be by next week.[/quote']
I was not on pain meds.... Doc sent me home with a prescription, but I have not needed to fill it!
Please add me to the sassy sleevers. My email is susantorlone@gmail.com

Are the Facebook groups private?
You know, most are. I was thinking any of us who want can friend each other and keep up with each other.
-
Is there a way for the September Folks to stay current with each other? I mean' date=' do you have to just pick through the posts -- or is there a centralized communication that folks can do?WeeWers[/quote']
We could email or Facebook each other ......

I started my pro-op diet on 08/30/2013 ' date=' sleeved on 09/04/2013.[/sup']Weighed myself this monring and i have lost 28lbs so far...YAHOOOO!!!
I am really enjoying tying all these different types of Soups and Protein shake reciepes. Pinterest has some awesome Protein Shake receipes. I made one last night that tasted just like a wendys frosty!!
I will have to check out the recipes then! I am getting bored with chocolate muscle milk!!
-
So that really bad pain in the breast-bone area is from having too much?? I could hardly get in 2 tsp of Soup lat night before the pain was unbearable!! Anyone else have this issue???

I'm 9 days out too' date=' but really struggling to get in some calories. I've reached 400 once, most days it's 100-250. Totally jealous of your 600 : )
Pre-op, I was doing a champ at getting in Protein. Now, I can barely finish 1/2 a Protein shake a day. Hopefully I can make some serious progress in the next few days. I've gotten in maybe 1200 calories over the last 9 days. That can't be healthy in the long run.[/quote']
I wish I could get in 600 cal!! I'm lucky to get about 400 also. I'm doing well with Protein shakes, I can take almost 50g a day, but calories is another thing!
HumorMe00.... You will get there. Progress takes time.

When was your sleeve date? And I TOTALLY understand!! I'm over liquids!
My sleeve was 9/4 and I cannot wait to have some cottage cheese and some eggs!! And maybe soon enough.... shrimp and lobster tail!!

I'm 8 days out' date=' sleeved on 9/3 and feeling great! I took a mile long walk this morning and only got really tired toward the end. Otherwise I'm progressing well! The surgical glue fell off one of my incisions earlier than expected but everything else seems pretty normal. No pain AT ALL anymore. I'm following the post-op diet, and plan to stay on liquids with hot Cereal and cream based Soup until I see my surgeon on the 18th and ask if I can progress to purees, but I have a concern.I'm having a hard time determining what "full" feels like. I'm not sure if it's becuase I'm doing liquid still or because my pouch is so new.. I don't know. When I take drinks of most everything, I get a twinge of discomfort when anything hits my stomach, but it only lasts for like 2 seconds, then I can continue "eating" my liquids, but I never feel full or stuffed or anything. Am I eating enough?? I heard a rule of thumb is 1 oz / 10 minutes but I feel like I can drink a 6 oz cup of hot tea in WAY less than an hour.. I don't know! lol I'll be sure to ask my surgeon about this too lol
Glad to hear everyone is doing well![/quote']
I would like to know the same too. I made the mistake last night of having puréed fruit in my Jello, and regretted it all night long. I think that 6 oz is too much......lol

Angie!!, I'm not sure. I had read that other people lost more initially.... I realize the problem isn't the 15 lbs. it's comparing my weight loss to other people's. in retrospect, I am doing as well as I am supposed to do and need to not worry about how much other people loose initially.

I was sleeved on the 9th and I am now at home. My surgery was textbook with no complications. I experienced no nausea at all just a lot of gas pain and cramping. Every time I stand up and walk around I burp a lot. I've been sipping Water as much as possible but have gotten very small amounts of Protein so far' date=' 10g of Isopure maybe yesterday. My abdomen has a lot of bruising and my incisions are very tender. sleeping is difficult because I am a belly sleeper and obviously with this I can only sleep on my back. I've found that I can only get about 3 hours at a time sleeping like this. My goal for tomorrow is to get as much protein as possible and actually eat two meals. I had my surgery at 330 pounds and as of today I am 323. I know most of that is organ resection and water but hey I'll take it. I hope this pain goes away soon. I don't seem to have a very high tolerance for it but I never really have had anything like this done before haha.[/quote']I think that's fabulous! I am also a belly sleeper and have found that if I use the pillow that I got from the hospital, I can tolerate sleeping on my belly. It also helped with expelling extra gas. I made the mistake of weighing myself at my daughters pediatricians office yesterday, and was disappointed....I only lost ( 15) lbs since last week, but today is another day. Trying to get the protein in is a great plan. Sip sip sip as much as you can.

I can't stand the tastes of artificial sweeteners. Which is probably good because they are really bad for you. I try to steer clear of artificial crap and turn to the more natural sweeteners that are not sugar. If it's between artificial and sugar' date=' I will take sugar, and try to have less of it, if possible. I'm still loosing around 4 pounds a week, 13 weeks out, so it seems to be working.[/quote']I am with you there! I drink the Muscle Milk reg. my nutritionist said as long as it has less than 10 sugars per serving with sufficient Protein, it's better than artificial sweeteners

Tomorrow marks 1-week post-op! So far so good' date=' I had a textbook operation without complications, what little pain was easily managed, limited swelling, and hardly any "gas". I have strictly adhered to my post-op clear liquid diet and have my 1-week followup with Dr. Reich tomorrow. I continue to lose weight slowly and under Dr. orders stopped my diabetes medicines in light of normal blood sugars (testing twice daily). For fellow posters who are post-op, Congratulations, and those pre-op, follow your DR's orders, diets, prepare for post op, and be confident in your decision and goals. God Bless had have a great week.[/quote']
Congratulations Buddy! I agree... Follow everything the doc says. We didn't go through this just to loose 20 lbs!

Maybe I am strange, but I actually tolerate the muscle milk. I don't care for the vanilla, but that's just me.
My surgery has been approved by my insurance...now its time to roll up my sleeves (pun intended o_O)

I am a stay home mom, so time off was not existent. I made it easier on myself by making and freezing meals for my hubby and daughter.
My doctor wrote me a note for 3 weeks! I wish!! LOL
