  1. I was sleeved on 8/12/13. I'm happy with the weight loss' date=' but experience nausea most of the day. Any ideas what I can do or what may be happening? I also have diarrhea -- this started when I began the pre-op clear liquid diet and still continues. I'm 5 weeks post op now. Help![/quote']

I am nauseous every time after I eat. I put a very small portion in a very small bowl and eat slowly but still feel nauseous and have to lay down.

Oh and I feel hungry as well. To those that posted earlier.

  2. I am out a month and I am starting to feel the same way. I am able to eat more so I am feeling hungrier? Is this head hunger? I feel like old habits are starting to inch their way into my head and I don't like it!!! I actually see a therapist twice a week because I WILL NOT go back to who I was before!! I am feeling worried.

  3. Hi sleevers

I was sleeves on August 19' date='2013. I am down 18 lbs, two visits to the hospital over night for dehydration. My doctor told me since I am unable to keep in fluids ( either end) I know tmi. I was also told I would need to stay home another month. This is so frustrating going crazy. Good news is I can eat real food chicken, steak and fish OMG. How do I take this news[/quote']

I'm a 8/19 sleeve too. Do you have to purée the meats? I have 2 more weeks of soft/purée.

  4. I am now 2 weeks post op and trying really hard to get used to this new lifestyle.....because that's what it really is! A huge change in how I think and consume food! What's even more difficult is that food and I don't get along anymore. I just started on soft foods yesterday' date=' and it seems that immediately after eating, I experience nausea for about an hour afterwards. I also feel like my nausea is intensified if I can still taste the food in my mouth. I feel like I need to brush my teeth after each meal! And, although I know it's a no-no, I find myself needing to sip Water to wash out the taste of the food both during and right after I eat.

    :P[/quote']

I have this happen when I eat too fast. I start to eat and mindlessly start eating like before and wham! I feel sick! I have to lay down and sometimes I actually start dry heaving. It's the dumping syndrome that we were told about. It never happens when I take one bite and put down my spoon and then wait a bit and take another bite. It is all about trying to change my past habits of eating mindlessly. With the sleeve your body just won't have it!

  5. I could not sleep in my bed for almost a week after surgery. I went from recliner to couch and back again several times a night. The first few nights back in bed I was up constantly walking to get the gas to settle and would end up in the recliner. It finally got better. I sleep in my bed and can turn from side to side and even sleep in my stomach. I am 3 weeks out. Good luck. Every day I have to keep telling myself to give it time!

  6. Hi all' date=' I hope you can help me. I've been trying to reach my friend all week who had surgery on the same day I did. I finally heard from her today and she is still so nauseous. We had surgery on 8/29 and she has been nauseous every day since. She's throwing up every day since also. I told her to go get some Gas-X and even try some Pedialyte but was wondering if anyone else is had that experience and has any suggestions.

I haven't had any nausea or any problems so I feel bad that I don't have any advice for her. She's really having a tough time so any advice would be great.

    Thank you!

Same thing happened to me it lasted 2 weeks. I dry heaved after even taking one sip of Water. Sometimes for no reason at all i would spit up. I was so scared that I had created a leak I went to the ER for a scan which came out clear thank goodness. I have not gotten sick for a week and the pain in my shoulder/chest has subsided.

The anesthesia seems to be the blame. It took a lot longer to get out of my system than the norm. I also think I was taking to big of sips. It's hard to retrain your brain on how to eat and drink.

I would definitely call and tell your doctor to see what they say but you are not alone. My surgery was not without its problems unfortunately but it has gotten better!

  7. That is exactly how I feel Neal! I have lost 18 lbs since surgery aug 19 but I am in my stall and i am feeling like I am doing something wrong. I have not lost anything in almost a week. I have tried and failed so many times I feel like this is going to be the same thing. I am going to be the one person on here that this does not work for!

    I can't fail at this.

  8. Sleeved in the 19th.

I had thrush after surgery-it went away a week after surgery. I then noticed itching under my breasts and thought yeast infection. Tried OTC meds and still there. Then got vaginal yeast infection. Went to my surgeon and he gave me a script (Fluconazole 150Mg) which is generic diflucan for 3 days and said it would clear up both. Took last pill 2 days ago and it is worse!! I can't seem to get rid of it????

  9. I'm from KY. Had my sleeve done on August 28th. Also had 2 hernias repaired and lap band taken out. Just got to stage 2 of the diet. Having a hard time adjusting to not feeling hunger pains (like I've lost communication with my stomach) and not being able to eat real food. I went through a similar diet after lap band 5 years ago' date=' but this seems much different. I can't stand not being able to drink to quench my thirst. Things taste weird. Things smell different. These weird and different smells and tastes make me feel like I want to throw up. I can't find a Protein that I like, but someone has suggested Isopure, so I'm going to check it out this weekend. I think I used the chocolate isopure powder after my lap band and liked it. I am scared about this. I knew it would be a change, but I'm worried I'm never going to be able to sit down to a normal (albeit smaller portioned) meal with my family some day. Does it get easier?[/quote']

Hi there! I was sleeved on the 19th and it DOES get easier! I had/having a hard time with everything you mentioned and it seems every day gets easier. I actually felt like I was mourning the OLD Jenn, the Jenn that likes food and the celebration if it. I just wanted to feel normal again and had second guessed my decision. I don't feel that way anymore. Everyday it gets better. I am still trying to quench my thirst - that one is hard! But mentally I am feeling stronger. I went to lunch with my husband yesterday and it wasn't like old times but felt nice to be able to order some mush (refried Beans, sour cream and quac) and eat out. Even if I only took 5 tiny bites and was full! I missed food and eating w my family too. I am on soft/mushy and I just throw whatever I make them into my ninja with a little but of broth and its what I eat too. Sans rice Pasta bread etc.

You can do this! Eat to live and not live to eat is my new motto!

  10. Hey guys I was sleeved 17 days ago. But I had a question. I'm having lots of soreness/pain on my right hand side on my stomach I believe where they pulled the stomach out. Is anyone else feeling like this? Should I be worried?

I was sleeved on the 19th and that is the only pain I have. Soreness and pain to the right of my belly button. Had 2 follow ups and at both they told me it was completely normal. That is could take 6 weeks or more to settle down. Good luck!
