Things you thought you'd miss but you don't?

Lucky you, I still miss carbs - chips, bread, rice. Thankfully cannot eat much of it.

Things you thought you'd miss but you don't?

I initially hated waiting to drink after eating but I've actually gotten used to it. It's crazy how you adapt
  3. Check out this interesting article from a lady who lost more than half her body weight discussing things she missed about being obese. http://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-13018/5-things-i-miss-about-weighing-more-than-300-pounds.html I'm still fairly early in the journey and don't look drastically different yet but wondering if other post'opers relate to this. Anything else you miss?

    Losing Weight but not Inches?

Lol am the opposite, seem to be stalled and loosing/gaining the same 3 pounds but have been losing inches. Was sooo frustrated and stopped weighing myself for a while. Clothes feel looser so I'll go with that and stop obsessing.
  5. Had to travel for a retreat and experienced another NSV. In the past, I was always worried about if the seatbelt would fit when I flew occasionally I had to request an extender(humiliating) but usually just sucked in my guy and squeezed into the seatbelt to avoid embarrassment and avoided getting up on flights so I wouldn't have to struggle to close the seatbelt again. Today, I got onboard, snapped my belt shut without a struggle, didn't encroach on my seat mate and was able to put the tray table all the way down. My weight loss has been slow and as I've become more active, it's been all over the place going up then down so I've been very frustrated. However I have been steadily losing inches and today's NSV showed I'm making progress and moving in the right direction. I'm so thrilled right now and am looking forward to more NSVs.
  6. I'm up 4 pounds this week and I've been more active than ever, burning around 3500 cals on the 3 days I worked out. Because I weigh daily, I noticed a spike in my weight the day after an intense workout ( cardio+strength training). Is this normal?

    Weight gain after intense workout?

Phew thanks for the feedback. The gain was quite alarming and counterintuitive. It feels like after burning a lot of calories, you should see a loss not gain.
  8. So we all harbor these fantasies about being happier, more confident, more social, sexier, stylish, successful, date more etc if we lost the weight. Well what happened after you lost the weight? Did things change for the better or worse?
  9. Have lost 2 pounds everyday for the past 3 days and seem to be on some sort of streak.
  10. I thought the surgery would be worse than it actually was. Recovered fairly quickly I thought the cravings would go away but it's still there. I tried some pizza & wings and it tasted good but i couldn't eat as much as i used...i'm talking about being full from 2 wings I thought the weight loss would be faster. The slow pace has been soo frustrating and i'm hoping the payoff is less loose skin/skin having time to bounce back What about you?
  11. I'm pretty pissed off and so sick of this sleeve right now. Don't let the ticker fool you, I lost most of my weight on the pre-op diet. It's been 6 weeks since i've had the surgery and i've only lost 8 pounds since then....8 pounds!!! Before you talk to me about stalls, this isn't week 3 or 4, this is week 6 and the scale refuses to move. Sure i've lost some inches but i'm in freaking limbo right now as I haven't lost enough to drop a dress size and don't want to spend money buying clothes in my current size. Reading posts on this site, I expected to have lost a lot more right now, hell at least 20 pounds, and i'm so disappointed and discouraged. What irks me the most is that i'm over 300 pounds so should be losing faster and was hoping to step up my fitness routine after i'd lost a bit more as it's so uncomfortable and exhausting to work out with this much weight on me. Honestly, I'm pissed, in a funk and won't be happy if the scale doesn't move in a week or 2. I simply cannot put up with this anymore. I can't keep doing this with nothing to show for it.
  12. Save for looking at the scale, when do you begin to notice you were no longer overweight/obese?
  13. There some rules I've broken but I always wait 30 minutes after eating before drinking water. I literally check my watch when I stop chewing and calculate what time I can start drinking.

    Frequency of Plateaus/Weight Stalls

Yup, I'm almost pushing 4 months and I can't tell you how many tantrums I've throw over stalling. I've already had 3 and it's like enough already, let's get this freaking show on the road. Seriously if it's going to be like this for the rest of the year I'm going to be pissed. I've only lost 20 pounds post surgery, it's like when is the weight loss going to kick in, I want this weight off me ASAP!!!!!
  15. Thanks guys, your posts have gotten me excited about the future!
  16. Protein drinks! Ever since I progressed back to regular food, I just don't want to drink it. Finding other ways to get protein in though.
  17. Was definitely one of those people that hoped the sleeve would be a magic bullet and the weight would fall of without having to do anything but I've found I do best when I follow my food plan and work out 3-4x a week. Yet people have so many different stories, some folk just eat less of what they used to, some stick to the eating clean, some eat clean and workout. I'm curious what's been working for you? How easy has it been to drop the weight?
  18. Right now, I'm so focused on my end goal thatI feel like I'm missing out on savoring the weight loss journey. I want to race to the finish, Like I just want to get to the end of the year so I'd have lost a bunch of weight. I'm obsessed with weighing myself and feel like hiding away until I'm slimmer. I don't think this is healthy and I need to make peace with how I currently look and get on with life and try to enjoy the present. Did anyone struggle with this?
  19. Leaving food on the plate!!!! My mom gave me hell about this growing up as such I became a member of the clean your plate club. Now even though I'm full, sometimes I want to keep going
  20. As we start dropping weight and changing sizes, how are folks planning to deal with constantly changing clothes and replacing them. I haven't shopped since surgery and waiting to lose a significant amount/clothes to start falling off me before I replace them. But honestly have no clue what to buy and how much. What are you doing?
  21. Lol this is my life story. Been overweight my whole life, always got the but you've got a pretty face BS. Also worried about how I'm going to look with the weight off. Hope I don't end up with a sunken face and oodles of loose skin. Who knows, getting my health back is top priority so let the chips fall where they may

    Almost 3 months out

Holy cow you look great. Congrats on your success!
  23. I read this interesting story on the Huffington Post about a woman who experienced jealousy, lost friendships & had to deal with oodles of attention after losing weight. Check out the great article here: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/4577625?utm_hp_ref=tw It got me thinking where there things you didn't expect to happen or threw you for a loop after you the weight? It could be positive or negative. Please share your story!

    Surgery 2 Days Ago

Congrats the worst part is over and will start to get better as time passes and you begin to heal. It'll get better, just make sure you follow your dr's orders.
  25. Where and when you first notice/feel thinner? My ass feels deflated right now lol! I noticed this at about 2 months out.
