I know right, oops I meant I agree

Is some of this thread funny ? Of course it is, but it's a WLS site not school. Let's remember a lot of us morbidly obese have felt invisible for most of our lives and some have had little education due to bullying at school and lack of attendance. This site gives us a safe place to voice our concerns and views. I know if people were continuously bitching about my spelling or grammar it would take away from my enthusiasm to ask for help from you guys.
I'm just being a voice for those that may have been offended by this thread.

the worst is from one of my customers, an old Korean lady.."oh, you lose weight, you not so fat like before.. before you was SOOOOOOOOOOO FAAAAAAAT" (complete with hand gestures to illustrate exactly how fat I was.
The best was from my Aunt who is extremely weight conscious. I figured she wouldn't even say anything since I'm still 244 pounds which is unthinkable in her book.. But she absolutely gushed about how great I look and she said that if I continued to lose weight that would be great, but even if I never lost another pound I look fantastic.. then I proceeded to get phone calls from my cousins who called me because my aunt had gone straight home and called them and gushed about how "thin" I was and how great I looked.

Best compliment I have gotten so far was from a Soldier I work with. I was having to explain a project to him that he was going to be responsible for because I am going to be out for surgery. He asked why I was going to be gone so long so I gave him an honest answer. His reply was something to the effect of "I am so happy for you. We are totally behind you." What I found out later was that some of the guys in the office have been talking about my weight and what they could do to help me. They have been concerned about my health. I still get choked up thinking about it.

Wife and I lost the 200 pounds between us. Closer we are!

Well it's 5:30 am and it's time to wake up and do this getting ready to head to the hospital

It helps me to remember how much I hated it when people commented on how much or what I was eating. It was none of their business. Now I just tell myself that too. If it's a poor choice they probably know it is and feel guilty already. Feeling guilty never helped me get healthier.

My surgery went well. It only hurts when I cough. Woohoo for pain killers!

I have been seeking an Attorney for 1 1/2 years and cannot find one to help.
I have all of my documentation along with pictures. Here's My Story.
There are thousands of people like me that have the same medical problems that I have, problems that will NEVER go away, side effects that we were NEVER warned about. We all had Lap Band surgery to lose weight but what we received instead is a medical nightmare that changed our lives forever.
Lap Band installed 07, vomiting and pain began immediately thought it was normal. Started going to Doctors and hospitals nothing found, then the diarrhea started, again Doctors and hospitals, colonoscopy and endoscopy 01/2012 (date of discovery) found lap band had eroded into my stomach. Lap Band removed 01/2012, very ill, still pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Constant vomiting caused a hernia so another surgery to repair hernia 11/2012. Still pain, vomiting diarrhea continually going to Doctors and hospitals, specialist does another endoscopy 07/08/2013 and finds major problems where my stomach was repaired, sends me to a surgeon immediately because he was so worried, saw surgeon within two days on 07/10/2013. Surgeon did his own endoscopy 07/22/2013, told me the lap band did a number on my stomach and he could not do the repair said I needed to see him in his office 07/26/2013 so he can go over alternatives with me. I am still vomiting and have diarrhea more times a day than I can count and the pain is severe. My Surgeon is a Bariatric Specialist and he no longer does Lap Band Surgery because of the damage Lap Bands do. He would make a great witness on my behalf.
I go nowhere except to Doctors and Hospitals, when I do I take a bag that consists of trash bags, paper towels, baby wipes, Water and a change of clothes. I vomit and have blasting diarrhea EVERY TIME I eat anything. I am single but cannot date; my boyfriend broke up with me because he could no longer handle my illness. My life has changed so much. Sometimes I crawl from the bed to the toilet several times a day, sometimes I make it sometimes not. I have vomited and had diarrhea while in the car and in the presents of others. A couple of months ago I was so sick that I was on a gurney at the hospital the vomiting and diarrhea would not stop and a hospital employee made the comment "disgusting she crapped all over herself". The pain is like having hundreds of hot knives cutting into my stomach. I have so many scars it is embarrassing, I will never be able to take my clothes off in front of anyone again. This is a small list of what I have been through and there are others just like me and some are worse like losing their eye sight. I have all of my documentation along with pictures to back up my story.
I feel the Doctor was negligent because he never warned me of these possible side effects and the danger. The Lap Band was defective because it eroded into my stomach.
My life will never be the same and my health will never be restored.
I may need surgery to completly replace my stomach and or a feeding tube.
I have lost 20+ pounds after the Lap Band was removed because of vomiting and diarrhea, not because of the Lap Band. I also got an infection while in the hospital.

Day 4 of Optifast and surprisingly it's been fine. Couldn't eat anything else if I wanted to

That really stinks Leslie Im sure even more than some of the lovely treats that have been discussed on this topic (hilarious BTW). With all of the emotional buildup to surgery day, I know it is devastating for it not to have happened the way you wanted. Keep your chin up and reschedule with a backup plan for your pet. Pick a cool date that has some significance in your life. Doing the whole preop diet only got you even closer to your goal weight and will help with your recovery!

Happy to announce a 1kg loss. I've been working my butt off this week!

I am yet to be sleeved (October 22nd), but I give everyone on this forum permission to slap me silly if I ever waste your time with either of the following posts:
1. Dreaded 3 week stall (what should I do?)
2. I have not lost weight in 2 days HELP!

But... I ate a third of a lamb shank with minted gravy, peas and carrots tonight. YAY ME!!!!!

Maybe not so much, you could have given yourself a better chance for health. Let me elaborate. I am also military Tricare/ united health care now. I started trying to get approved originally for a gastric bypass in 2010 when I noticed that no matter what I did my weight would drastically fluctuate from 135-200 within a month. At the time I did not have as many health issues as I do now. I started the processes with Tricare for them to deny me, appeal, deny again and then switch health coverage and start all over. Long story short at the beginning of this year I was diagnosed with end stage liver disease, non-alcoholic cirrhosis stage 4. After all of the treatments, biopsy’s , and other mid-evil torture processes my transplant doctor tells me that if I would have had the bypass 2 years ago I wouldn’t be in the boat I’m in now. The gastric sleeve is my only option now due to my condition and I am currently waiting on a surgery date. Long story short, I started the processes with only having high blood pressure and due to the fast-food treatment of military medicine passing me back and forth between different PCP’s I now have hypothyroidism, diabetic, liver patient. They are still pressing the issue that I do not weight enough even though I have officially been passed over to a specialty care at KU Medical. I personally think you did the right move at being proactive at seeing to your health. If I had the capability I would have done the same thing. Try not to kick yourself in the shins for making a move for better health and not taking a NO for an answer. Personally, I salute you.
