Dini, Babes, you are such a sweetie! I don't know how you do it with being around food ALL the time!!! I have to avoid the kitchen so I don't want something!!!! YIKES! As far as the port, I feel bad that we all laughed at you about that one, 'cause I can feel mine too!!!!! My daughter felt it and said, " oooohhhh, that is just gross!!!!!" Now, isn't that just a reassuring sentiment, lol??????

Prairielover, I don't teach sixth grade! Don't think I'm cut out for it, but I do love what I do!!!! I teach K4 and though it is a very hectic and busy day, I absolutely love it!!!! I have been doing this for 21 years now, so I guess I better love it!!!! Lol However, I do think a lot of stress comes from our jobs! I don't think people out of our field realize how much stress there is. It has been especially difficult the past few years, because the family values and home lives have really gone downhill! We are definitely seeing the results of that in our classrooms. Last year, nearly half of my class came from a broken family. It is sad, but the role models they have just aren't always the best. Now, that is not to say that some of these children do rather well and have a good home life despite all of that, but for the most part, that isn't how it is.

Rainer, How cool!!! How much has your husband been able to lose? Did you already have your surgery or still waiting? That is nice, you two will be able to lean on each other. I think that is an ideal situation to be in!

ReneeMarie, It is soooo nice that you can share this experience with your sister! I don't have any sisters, but wish I did! It should really help the both of you! My mom is hoping to get banded in a few months. She is at the beginning of her journey. I am sure we will be able to help and encourage each other!

Onmyway, By the way, love your screen name!!!! I don't know anything about smoking, but I would imagine the more you could stop, the better you will be. I am sure the doctors just want you in the best health possible. I do know breathing is a chore right after surgery! It hurts to breath and you feel like you have a huge weight on your chest, luckily that doesn't last too long!!!!!! I know, not much help, but wanted to answer your post! Good luck with everything! It is sooooo worth it! I teach also and am looking forward to the new me that can go back at the end of August!!!!!!

Ash, :angryNah, unfortunately not, there isn't much you can do but take GasX and walk!!!! It just seems to have to work its way out, but I can tell you, I had my surgery Monday and today I only had a few pinges in my shoulder ~ mostly right after I eat or drink. Hang in there, it will get better!:clap2: :)Hey, did anybody see on Entertainment Tonight, where LuLu from Hee Haw had the Lapband done too! She is down to 170 something or another. Looks good and says she's happy! See, this is for the Rich and Famous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL:whoo:

Gege, are you avoiding sugar and buying sugar free foods/liquids?
  11. dmtjet

Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Gege, you were banded the same day as me! I didn't have diarrhea, but rather constipation. I am taking a stool softener for that, but seems you can have either. Apparently, codeine laced pain pills 'cause constipation as well. Not sure, but what I have heard. I have diabetes, but was told not to take my Avandia since my surgery and not eating enough. My sugar has been good, usually 122 to 150. Prior to surgery I was on Avandia, Glucophage (twice a day), and Byetta (twice a day), so doing well now. Hope things improve for you very soon!

Lynette, yes, on the Gogurt! Actually, I have some here. Hope you had a great night fishing! Also, did your doctor happen to say when you could start doing more exercise than walking? I didn't think to ask! Thinking I would like to start going to the gym again and just wondered. Definitely wouldn't do any stomach exercises, but otherwise thought it might be okay. Anyone have any idea on this one?

Sunshinesonya and MsPris - Good luck with your upcoming surgery! You will feel sooooo much better, you will wonder why you ever worried about it! I am a nervous person and get panicy and all, but believe me, it is well worth it! I feel sooooo much better and am down 7 pounds since surgery and it is only 5 days! It will be over before you know it! Danny, awesome weight loss! Glad you are doing so well! Jackie506, don't let anyone pull you down! You do what is right for you and others will either accept it or move on! It has to be that way, because right now your health has to come first. ReneeMarie, I don't know how long swelling lasts, but it is at least 5 days, lol! nurse76, hang in there, it will get better! Need to learn how to use our new "tool!" Laurend, welcome back! I have been looking for you! Sounds like you are doing great! Thanks for the chart! Peaches, you have the opposite problem from me, I am using a stool softener/laxative to try to deal with my situation, lol! Lynette, have loads of fun fishing!!!! Used to do that a lot when the girls were little. Makes for a nice evening! Patti C, sounds like you are doing well! Keep it up!

I just get so caught up in this stuff, once I get on here, it is addictive!!!! I never chatted like this before either! But I love it! It is nice to have soooo much in common with a group of people! I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!!! Later Gators!!!!

Ronik, Yeah, and what's up with putting your weight on your lapband card????? How rude is that??????!!!!!!!! That is soooooo personal and shouldn't even be an option!!! We should be able to put a description of the doctor on their then too!!!!! I am sure they are not all "hunks!!!" I just think that is very distasteful! Can you white or black that out???? I think I would!!! But as Lynette said, you will drop so fast that you might not mind that someone knows what you weighed "before" you had the surgery!!!! Actually, in that light, something to be quite proud of!!!!! LOL

:)Lindaa, Hang in there, it will be over soon! You will feel soooo relieved! I know I did! :embarassed:ronik, don't kick yourself! I weighed myself before going in for surgery and again when I got home from the hospital and was up 6 lbs.! Then yesterday, I had to go to the ER to have an ultrasound for my legs swelling, to rule out blood clots and I was down 7! I asked my doctor about that and the nurse said that is why they don't have the post-op visits for a week, everyone gains from the IV's, the gasses they use, and the surgery!!!! So we are normal!!!! LOL :confused:Nichole and Marcy, the "burp" thing, yeah, I have it too, but feels more like pressure in the center of my chest. Also, right after I drink or "eat" (my liquid diet), I get pinges and pressure. Is that what you are getting? :whoo:chickb13, unruhlyhd, marcy, the bike thing must go hand-in-hand with this surgery, lol! Maybe the motorcycle industry took some stock out, lol! My husband just bought a "bigger" bike so we could ride. He had a Harley Sportster and said it was too "small" for two people. Now he has a Custom Dyna Glide, only about a week old! He can't wait to get me on it! I hope I am there before too long! Marcy, You WILL get back on a bike!!! But I know what you mean, that is why I didn't ride before, I didn't want to look like a big blob on the back. I certainly didn't want anyone looking at my big butt!!!!! My husband is about 170 and not that big, so I would really stand out like a sore thumb!!!!! :sickTrystelle, congrats on your surgery! Sorry to hear you are nauseated! I didn't have that, but I am sure it isn't fun! It does get better each day!!!! :whoo:Linda, Good luck! It will be over soon! Let us know how it goes! Well, not sure what I am up to today, but definitely need to "eat" something, lol! Then should go for a walk! Looks to be a beautiful day, so will be nice to be outside! Leave some "good" reading for my return!!!! :pHello, Dini, Chimboree, Lynette, Laurend????, Sunshine!!!!!!!! We must be hitting different times!!!!! Have a great day! Check in later!

kc1228, 4 children! You are a busy woman! How did you do with your first band? Did the Dr. tell you any benefits to the new model? Just curious! First, I heard this! At least, you will know what to expect!!!!

Lynette, No, I didn't think of some of the things you posted!!!! Thanks!!! It is just that how do you get it in? If you try to get in 4 oz. at a meal, there is no room for anything else!!!!! I will try some of these ideas though! Although I guess, it all counts as liquids, huh? IF that is so, I can have MORE!!!! Probably am thinking wrong, can't be that lucky!!! But if it is, I am definitely having the peanut butter next! Also, thanks for the kind words about my family!! I kinda like them too!!!! LOL You gave me the inspiration to do that one too!!!! LOL Chimboree, yeah, but I wasn't scared! I called just to see if it was "NORMAL!" Little did I know ... I should know that nothing with me is ever NORMAL!!!! Still, does make me nervous, every pinge makes you notice and you tend to just wait to see if it passes!!!! Oh, I don't sleep in the recliner! Have been in the bed since I came home. At least they didn't find any blood clots on the ultrasound, but they say with the pain I was having and the swelling, it could have moved!!!! I don't even want to think about that one!!! Rainer, Welcome and Congratulations on your banding! I can't even imagine doing this surgery and being responsible for 3 little ones under the age of 4!!!!! You have to be beat!!! Although, I do envy you on your average day. There is nothing better than being with children. They are amazing!!! At least, your husband should be VERY understanding during this time in your life, lol! Patti C., Sorry to hear about your problems! Very scary to have the unexpected things happen and especially difficult when it is out of your control! I hope you are feeling better very soon! :)How is everyone else this evening? Any new ideas? Keep 'em coming! Oh, by the way, I was down 7 lbs. when I went to the doctor today! So at least that is some good news! ... not too bad for 4 days out!
