  5. I am still so apprehensive about the surgery.I know it's necessary to save my life, but I would really like to hear from those post ops that have endured thier strugglesbut know that the surgery was still the best decision of thier life. I would like to hear 3 specific areas. #1 Post sleeve what has been your personal worst day/week and why? #2 What is the one thing that you thought getting the surgery would change, that hasn't and how have u learned to cope? #3 What is the one thing u wish u knew to discuss with ur surgeon prior to getting sleeved? I hate to be so specific, but your responses help me out since I feel knowledge is the one thing that is helping me get through the mental requirements of having this procedure. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to respond

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. This forum has been such a blessing to have the support from others that understand. I will be sending up prayers for you on 10/23 that your procedures go well and that you have a speedy recovery..I have a little longer on my journey as my health insurance approved me, but I have a $2500 co insurance for my procedure. Which is ironic as I work for the hospital that I am having the surgery done. But I am planning for 12/2/13. My current weight is 215 I'm 5'3" with a BMI of 38.1 I have type 2 diabetes, HBP,High Cholesterol, Asthma and Sleep Apnea (so ready to drop those ailments) Please keep us updated with your progess. And I'll see less of you soon! God Bless

    WLS Cover-up Story

I agree with ur desires to remain private..Im preop and planning to be sleeved 12/2/13...I work at the hospital I am having my surgery done and I am actually requiring that my name be changed to an alias while I am having any WLS preop procedures and during my inpatient hospital stay. As I do not want anyone (co workers tend to be nosey & judgmental) and I don't need them to be in "my" business. I have decided to only tell my boyfriend and my 23 yo daughter( my daughter is very supportive, my boyfriend will be supportive, but even he is a little apprehensive about the entire process)...to help my mom not worry (I'm a only child) and my mom really stresses over my health, and therefore even with her love & continual support, she will just not able to understand and may be a little overwhelmed and that will create stress for me, so i made the difficult decision to tell my mom, I'm having a hernia removed. After I have recovered, i will sit her down and tell her the truth. Some say it's deceptive, but it's my choice who I want to tell based on the support I need. So I say all this to say to you...tell those who you choose, and know that it's your decision. We all understand ( especially me). Best of luck
  9. Just got a little nervous...I'm getting sleeved 12/2/13 and I am planning to go to New Orleans next year for my boyfriend's birthday in April. I just realized I'm not going to be obsessing about the food. (which is a good thing) but I am so scared that it is impossible to go on vacation post sleeve since eating is a little unpredictable (after surgery u can only experiment with small amounts of food and often it doesn't agree with your sleeve). I'm just nervous I will be miserable and make the trip miserable for his 50th birthday. Maybe this is just one of many preop freakouts.
