  1. Congratulations! We're lapband buddies!!! Yes, all of these gas bubbles are weird feeling!
  2. Ok, I took liquid Zoloft for the first time today and nearly barfed! I'm going to have to find something to help that go down better. All my pre-op tests are done and all that is left is the "lovely" enema.
  3. I think I am more nervous about making it through tomorrow than the actual surgery itself! Tomorrow I can only have clear liquids and I have to an enema.

    Lap band after 10 years

I have not watched the video, but I am not worried about it. I gained my weight from having 7 kids and I'm not having anymore kids, so I feel good that I can keep it off once it's gone!
  5. I am going to be sooooo grouchy tomorrow! I hate not being able to eat. I bought some Special K Protein Water and hope it takes the edge off. That and chicken broth. I have so much to do tomorrow too, so I am not looking forward to it. I waited too long to get my meds filled in liquid form and went in last Wed and still have not been able to fill them! I may have to camp at my Drs office tomorrow until I can get them filled!

    New Program Fee

I see your in Murfreesboro, I'm in Clarksville and I am having my surgery done at Gateway Hospital and they do not charge this fee. If you don't mind traveling, maybe you could have it done here, which is about 2 hrs away.
  7. No, I was just told to eat a low fat diet and tomorrow I can only have clear liquids. Tues is surgery day.
  8. Thank you! I am feeling better! I think it is just a little bit of a virus, but nothing serious. I am so anxious for Tues to get here! :tt2:
  9. My 5 yr old is running a fever and has a sore throat and I also have a sore throat, but no fever. Please don't let me get sick!!!

    Disappointment!!

I had to go to the lapband orientation meeting at the hospital, and I also had to go to one support meeting and the diet class. I had bloodwork, EKG, EGD, psych evaluation, gallbladder u/s, and h pylori test. I would go ahead and schedule all your tests now,and that way you'll be set! I have Tricare Prime and was able to do my gallbladder u/s, bloodwork and EKG by just calling my PCM at the White Clinic at the Army hospital. If you have any questions just let me know.

    Disappointment!!

Have you gotten the rest of your tests done? I have Tricare as well and I started getting everything done in Feb and have surgery this next tues. Good luck!
  12. OMG!!! I have a surgery date!!! I am excited and scared all at the same time. This is really going to happen! :wink2:
  13. Congratulations!!! I also have Tricare and found that it was very easy to get everything approved!
  14. We need a name!!! Any suggestions?!
  15. I was really having doubts as to whether I could do this or not, but I am getting excited as my surgery date draws near. I was looking at a sale catalog last night from Eddie Bauer and looking at all of the fun summer clothes that I will be able to fit into next summer!!! I think the thing I have been the most nervous about are the first few weeks after surgery and the liquid diet. I am happy to say though that I am sitting here drinking a cup of DECAF coffee!!! This is a biggy for me. I have not cut out diet coke 100% yet, but I also feel comfortable with letting that go too. I have a really nice blender that I am eying for when my stimulus check comes. Things are falling into place!

Tricare Prime and Dallas/Fort Worth Texas

As far as getting started, when I found out that Tricare was going to approve the lapband, I made an appointment with my PCM in the white clinic and that was where I got the referral to have the lapband done. I found that contacting Tricare directly is the best way to go. They had me approved, but it ended up being approved for the wrong Dr (he on did gastric bypass) and I was able to get it switched by just talking to someone at Tricare. As soon as you get approval to see the surgeon, I would try to go ahead and schedule all of the pre-op tests that you need. I was able to get an EKG done by just walking into the white clinic without an appt. The only thing I have done that was not covered by Tricare was the diet and nutrition class which was $60. I started on this journey in Feb and my surgery date is July 8. I'm having it done at Gateway Hospital in Clarksville, TN and it also requires an overnight stay.
  17. I've really been watching what I eat and have been pretty active and the weight is starting to SLOWLY come off, but it is coming off. My surgery date is in a month, and I just wonder, do I really have to do this? I've done this in the past, but it seemed like everytime I started to lose weight that I got pregnant again during the process and gained it all back and then some. I have 7 kids, so I think that has been the biggest toll on my body. Well I am going through a divorce now and have also had a tubal, so there are no more pregnancies in my future, so I am debating, should I go through with this? Do you know what the hardest part is for me? Giving up diet cokes and also not being able to drink fluids when I eat. That's it. That is what is scaring me. Does that seem silly? Looking back and reading that seems silly to me. Did anyone get rolled into the surgery room wondering if they were making the right decision?
  18. With it being as hot as it is and the amount of water I drink, I may have a hard time with this! It's 91 today and humid!
  19. Thank you, because this is the kind of reassurance I need right now. I forgot to mention, my surgery date is 2 days before my 38th birthday! I am also thankful that I have health insurance right now that covers this 100%. I will be so glad when I can go off blood pressure meds!
  20. I am also a gulper. I usually have so much going on, that I inhale food, because that is just one more thing I have to do. Run-run-run is my life, so when I am out, I grab fast food, because I can grab it, inhale it, and keep going. *BIG SIGH* Darnit! I know I have to lose this weight, and if I can just get this done, and be able to eat and not feel hungry, I can succeed. :wink2:
  21. I like the July Butterflies as well! :wink2:

    Who's Getting Banded in July?

I am also scheduled for July 8 and I am also wondering if I am doing the right thing. I think it is the first few weeks that have me worried the most. I have SO MUCH going on, with being a single mom to 7 kids, a new litter of puppies, and my ebay business. Do I really have time to do this? I am NOT canceling, some how I am going to make it fit my schedule!

    July 9th Surgery Date

Well I have been under before and it's still scary. This surgery whether it's done on an out patient basis or not is a big deal. I can tell you though, you will not remember being put under. You drift off to sleep and then poof, you're in the recovery room. Do you have someone who is going to be there with you when you wake up? My mom and I are not that close, but she is actually going to come be with me for my surgery and I am thankful for that. Don't worry, we will all be here for you, so you can talk it through.
