  1. I had my band put in on July 8, 2008. It worked great and I was 100% free of heartburn until last year. Last year I got a violent stomach flu and threw up for the first time since getting my band in. I went back to my Dr and he did a barium swallow and said that the band had NOT slipped. He took all of the fluid out. Still had heartburn and ended up with an endoscope. Still said band was in place. Well this week I went in to have my hiatel hernia repaired and the band replaced. There was so much scar tissue that he could not replace the band and YES, it had slipped. I am not getting ready to start the journey on gastric bypass.
  2. I did a barium swallow and was told it was in place. I had an endoscope and was told my band was in place. It was only when I had surgery that they finally told me that it had slipped. It was VERY frustrating!
  3. I had my thyroid removed in Aug of last year. I am just now getting my thyroid replacement meds adjusted. I gained a lot because I went from hyper to hypo. I am on 225mg of Synthroid now and hopefully I've finally hit the right mark!
  4. I do have to go through the process all over again. I have a friend that also had problems with her lapband and she got a gastric bypass about 2 mos ago and she wishes she had gone with the gastric to start off with. I'm fine with that since my college classes start next week and I will be in school until April. I am going to try and lose weight until then, but if all else fails, then I am moving forward with the gastric. I am VERY glad that I had the lapband removed. The scar tissue was definitely not a good thing and would have gotten better. Had I known a 100% that my lapband would not be able to be replaced I would have gotten the tests and all of that done before having the lapband removed, but I guess everything happens for a reason. Good luck and if you need a weight loss buddy, let me know.
  5. Here I am at the walk of shame. Was banded on July 8, 2008. I lost about 50 pounds and then I got the stomach flu last year and started throwing up and my band slipped. My Dr took all of the fluid out, but I still have horrible heartburn and I have a huge hiatel hernia, so I am scheduled for surgery on Jan 4, 2011. It's not all the stomach flu part. I have just fallen into old patterns that got me where I was to begin with. It is really embarrassing to be starting all over again. I need a mentor! I have got to get this weight off once and for all!
  6. I have to do a Fleet enema tomorrow and be on clear liquids all day. Did you Dr require a pre-op enema?
  7. Before my surgery in July 2008, I suffered from GERD and a hiatel hernia. Since my surgery I have been off Prilosec 100% because the issues were gone. About 4 weeks ago I got the stomach flu and had horrible vomiting, the first I have had since the surgery. My Dr did an upper GI on Fri and it didn't show anything, so he basically just removed the fluid from my band. I've regained almost all of my weight, and he tried to sell me on gastric bypass surgery, which I refuse to have done. I am having an upper GI on Wed. It's just hard for me to believe that the stomach flu, throwing up, and now having the acid reflux is not related.
  8. Today marks the one week mark since I started having port pain. I went into the Dr last week (Mon) and he said that I probably pulled the muscle it is stitched in to. Well it still hurts to bend over or be too active and it is burning, stabbing pain. I'm going to go back in tomorrow morning. What do they do if you do "pop a stitch"? Does this mean I will have to have surgery to fix it?
  9. I am in the same situation. I just made an appointment to see the plastic surgeon on the 16th and although I am not at my goal weight yet, I keep getting horrible yeast rashes and it's only getting worse with the warmer weather. I just want it gone!!!

We Must Be Doing Really Well!!!!

Wow! I can't believe they are going out of business!
  11. 100% the best decision I ever made! No regrets!
  12. I was tired last night and I just didn't feel like working out. Not working out is just NOT an option. I had to self talk myself the entire time I was working out on my treadclimber. It paid off. I did it. And this morning I am SO glad that I did exercise. I stepped on the scale and it was moving in the direction I wanted it to, and that is down. The thing that stinks right now is that I am losing the weight that I regained over the holidays. :frown: 6 more pounds and I will be past that and moving into new territory. I stepped on the scale this morning and it read 219. 20 pounds. This is all I need to lose to get BELOW 200! I can do this! I have to do this!

  14. It is the dreaded word that I hate- exercise. I'm at that point where the weightloss was at a stand still, so I had to add exercise into the equation. So far, all of my weightloss has been from cutting back on calories. Exercise is one of those things that I always put off until the "next day". I'll do it when _______, insert word here. Well I have a very nice treadclimber in my basement that was collecting dust. My 39th birthday is in 5 months. My surgery date anniversary is 2 days before my birthday. I refuse to weigh over 200 pounds on my birthday!!! I AM going to get this weight off. I've been working out for the past 3 days in a row for 20 minutes a night. It feels good to be exercising. I'm going to increase to 30 minutes next week and so forth.

    Exercise

Thanks for the support! Last night I notched it up a step and I was sore! I was really ready to give up before I was done and I just kept on. I always feel so much better after I have gotten it done. I must keep this up!

  17. I've given birth to 7 kids, and I will most definitely get a tummy tuck and a boob lift if I can!
  18. I had my surgery in July 2008 at the new Gateway hospital and it went very well and the hospital is really nice. I like Dr. Steely a lot and have had 2 1/2 fills so far. I have another one scheduled for Feb. I never feel a thing when I get a fill.

  20. It is so much easier after the holidays are over. I always overeat at holiday time and this year was no exception. I put on weight and my weight crept back up to 225. I'm back down to 220, and I've gone back to a pretty strict diet. I can honestly make a huge breakfast and eat it, but I've gone back to drinking the Carnation Instant Breakfast and I have my freezer stocked with Lean Cusines. Even though I gained weight back over the holidays, I am still lighter than I was last year at this time. It is a battle. It is a battle everytime I go out to run errands and go past a fast food restaurant. The band is not a miracle cure. It is a tool, but you have to use that tool the way it was intended to use it. You CAN get around the band and snack the pounds back on. I do not have the will power to keep sweets in the house. This is my weakness. Sweets and fast foods. So I step on the scale EVERY morning. The scale will not lie. Those numbers on the scale won't lie and if you can't sneak food by the scale and not have it show up. January is always a great month to get back into the swing of things because instead of all of the chocolate commercials you see the weight loss commercials. I don't know, maybe it gets better after you've lost the weight, but it is hard to watch the commercials for the junk food and NOT want to overeat. I feel like if I can just get another 20 pounds out the way before Spring arrives that I will be set on a good track for success. Because when the weather gets warm I love to work out in the yard and I always lose weight. I CAN do this!!!!

    July Butterfly NSV's!

I started out at a size 22, and am still wearing VERY loose size 20, and have ordered some size 18's. Still scared about trying them on, but excited at the same time. I also ordered a bunch of J Jill clothes today (they are having a HUGE sale) and ordered size XL tops instead of 2X!!! If they are a little snug when I get them, there is no way they are going back, because they are way too cute! Went to the movies tonight with the kids and did NOT eat junk food!!! Was very tempted to get fast food on the way home, but I ate a salad once I got home. I CAN do this and I WILL do this. Isn't it exciting to be starting out the new year with our tool already in place?! :cursing:
  23. I haven't had a chance to read all of the replies, but I'm with ya! I slid a little bit over the holidays, but I went to the store yesterday and got some Carnation Instant Breakfast and loaded up on Lean Cuisines! They have a really good price at Kroger right now. I am so ready to get my butt back in gear.
  24. I finally got off my butt and got my referral renewed with my insurance company so I could get back in a get a fill. I've back stepped a little and gained a little weight, that I am totally blaming on the holidays! This is my time of year that I always tend to gain weight, and even though this is my first year being banded, I still fell off the band wagon a little. Well I got a 4cc fill on Fri, and this is my 3rd fill. I can feel a difference and I am actually full faster and can't eat as much, which is wonderful! The thing is that I seem to feel hungry more now in between meals. Has anyone else experienced this? I need to restock my cabinets with some healthy Snacks and I will next week on payday. I'm looking forward to getting back on track and serious after the new year starts. I am SO thankful I now have this tool to help!!!
  25. I am trying to eat my protein first, but the meals I have eaten the past few days are kind of getting stuck! I know it's from not chewing it up better. It's hard to "unlearn" inhaling food and eating too fast. I made baked chicken the other night and it got stuck and I had ham last night and it got stuck.
