Congratulations!!! My final paperwork was just submitted yesterday by the surgeons office and it was approved today. So I finally got a surgery date!

Another July 8th here!!! I think it's pretty neat that we're all having it on the same day. Now we can compare notes!!! :wink2:

I have finally finished all my pre-op requirements and am waiting for a surgery date. :thumbup:

I have Tricare Prime and made an appt in Feb with the white clinic at Blanchfield and saw my PCP and got a referral to see the surgeon. While I waiting for approval to see the surgeon, I decided to go ahead and call Tricare and see if I was approved yet and able to make my appt. I was glad that I called, because there are 2 Drs that perform bariatric surgery and I had been approved for the Dr that only did gastric bypass, so I was able to get the referral changed to the Dr that covered the lapband. Tricare has been VERY easy to deal with. I am 100 pounds overweight, plus I have high BP and GERD. The first thing I had to is go to an information class that was held at Gateway Hospital in Clarksville, TN. I also had to have bloodwork done, an EGD, an EKG, an ultrasound of my gallbaldder, a sleep study, go to a support meeting, have a pysch evaluation, and finally go to the Diet & Nutrition class. All I am waiting for now is a surgery date. I would recommend that once you get your surgeon in place, then schedule everything you can, because I am going on month 4 of starting the whole process and I just finished up this week. The thing that held me up was that the Diet & Nutrition class was only held once a month, and I missed last month's meeting.

I am completely done with all of my tests and now all I need is a surgery date!!! I think I'll have it done in June. :thumbup:

My surgeon also had me do this test. It only takes about 20 mins and all you have to do is breathe in a bag.

I had my EGD today and it all went well, and before I left the nurse told me that I needed to start on a 1200 calorie diet? She gave me a handout of the sample diet, but I am just wondering if this is my "pre-op" diet??? The only thing I have left to do is go to the diet and nutrition class. All of my pre-op medical tests have been done!! :biggrin:

I have finished all of my required medical tests, psych evaluation and have not had to pay anything. The only thing I have left is a diet and nutrition class on May 15 that will be $60 and that I do have to pay. I had my EGD today and as soon as Tricare sends the approval I get to schedule my surgery!!! :biggrin:

I am a huge coffee drinker but was able to go off of it with my pregnancies so I think I will do ok. I plan to switch to the flavored decaf coffee. Other than coffee and the occasional diet coke, water is all I drink. :rolleyes2:

The last thing thing I have to do to fulfill my requirements is go to the Diet and Nutrition class and it's not until May 15th!!! The class for this month is full! I want a MAY surgery date, NOT June!!! :thumbup:

My mother is VERY against me having surgery. She bought me a diet book and told me that this was the stupdiest thing I had ever done. Hang in there. You went through a lot of thought before making this decision. I have come into soooooo many people who have had WLS, and the only thing they regret is not doing it sooner.

I will have the last of my tests finished on April 28, so I am praying for a May surgery date. So I think this is where I belong, FINALLY!!! :tt1:

I hear ya! I don't know whether it's because AF is on the way or I am just trying to get all of the binging in beforehand, but I am eating like crazy!

That is awesome!!! I did my sleep study last night at Gateway. I think it went well. She said it could take 2 wks to get the results. I've already gotten my blood work, EKG, 2 classes at Gateway, sleep study and exam yesterday. My u/s is tomorrow for my gall bladder, and I need to go to the nutrition class and my endoscope is on April 28th! :biggrin: I hope to have a surgery date in May!!! BTW...were you at last weeks meeting? We may have seen each other and not even known it!

I am doing my sleep study tonight. I have my endoscope, psych, gallbladder u/s all scheduled and then I am done!!! Oh, I also need to do the nutrition class. My endoscope is not until April 28, so I am hoping that I will have surgery at the beginning of May. How did you surgery go?

I just called the 1800 Tricare phone number and asked if I had gotten approval and I am glad that I did, because I called to make my appt, and the Dr I had gotten approval for did gastric bypass only, and not the lapband, so I was able to call Tricare back and get it switched to the right Dr. My orientation meeting at Gateway hospital in Clarksville, TN is on March 17.

Did you have your appt? I go to the orientation meeting at Gateway on March 17.

I am pretty excited about finally getting this done and I have shared it friends and family.

I had an 11 lb 7 oz baby, but I did have an epidural! :biggrin: I am also getting a lot of flack from my mom. She bought me the Bob Greene best diet book. :rolleyes2:

I have been separated since Nov and I will be getting the lapband done as soon as I get my letter from Tricare and can schedule it. I am actually looking forward to losing the weight. My soon to be ex was a very verbally abusive person and my weight was just one more thing he used against me. He has a very low self esteem and seems to think the only way he can build himself up is by tearing me down. I look at him as the "first 185 pounds" I've lost! :tongue2:
