  1. I PASSED OUT 2 TIMES LAST NIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE MY SURGERY. WHEN I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE HOSPITAL COVERED IN BLOOD FROM HITTING MY HEAD ON THE GARAGE FLOOR, MY BLOOD PRESSURE WAS 50/30 AND I WAS SEVERELY DEHYDRATED. I'VE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS UP UNTIL LAST NIGHT. I KNOW IM NOT GETTING IN ENOUGH Protein BUT I SURE THOUGHT I WAS DRINKING ENOUGH. DEFIANTLY UPSET WITH MYSELF.

  2. Hi from St Charles! I was sleeved on Monday 12/2 at Mercy in Washington with Dr Hawver. I can't say enough about how great she and her staff are. Cathy, the program coordinator, was so very helpful. It's been 5 days and I think I'm doing pretty good. Weird to always be sipping on something and burping a LOT but I'm down 5lbs since surgery and 24lbs since beginning the program. So glad I found this site!

Congrats. I'm in St Charles too. I was sleeved Sept 13th in Mexico. I was self pay and couldn't afford to do it in the US. I've lost 65 pounds. Still have another 100 to go but it's been so easy. I found out yesterday that I'm no longer diabetic. That is awsome.

Keep us posted on your progress. When you start feeling better and can work out get in touch with me. I really need a workout buddy.

  3. I was sleeved on 9/13/13. It was 2 months ago yesterday and I'm down 55 lbs. I've had a couple stalls, one at 3 weeks and another at 7 weeks but I pushed through them. Overall between the surgery and the recovery this has been so easy. I couldn't be any happier with my decision to do this for myself. I feel amazing already and have 95 lbs to go but I know I can do this. I've gone from 3x pants to 1x and 5x shirts to 2x. Next clothing I buy I hope it's not at a big girl store. I haven't been able to do that in years.

I go for my second set of blood work at the end of the month and really hoping to be able to go off my cholesterol, blood pressure and sugar meds. That would be exciting. I would love to hear some other success stories around 2 months out. Please and thank you.

  4. I had my surgery on 9/13 in TJ Mexico by Dr Fernando Garcia with Ready 4 a Change. I flew from St Louis to San Diego. I never traveled alone before but I had NO problems at all. I was actually happy that I went alone. It was time to myself and I didn't have to worry about keeping someone entertained. There was never a moment that I needed anyone's help for anything. The trip home was good too. My biggest problem was that I was freezing on the plane. A nice lady next to me put her sweater over my arms and I fell asleep. Good luck with your decision. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

  5. You will need a passport to get back into the US. If you don't have one' date=' you can expedite your passport application for a fee--though I don't know what it is these days. I did read that you can get back in with proof that you've applied for a passport, but I encourage you to research that; it may no longer be valid.[/quote']

I expedited my passport or $60.00 and I got it back in 8 business days and scheduled my surgery 6 days later in Mexico. Good luck to you.

  6. I went through Ready 4 a Change with Dr Fernando Garcia. It was all inclusive, 3 days at the Marriott and 2 days in Florence Hospital. The care was incredible. That also included all meds for after as well. I paid $4700. I believe it was a special at the time but worth checking into. My flight was $280 round trip from St Louis to San Diego and the driver picks you p and takes you across the border both directions. Good luck with your decision.

  7. I also went thru Ready 4A Change. Started pre op diet on Sept 1st at 313 lbs. Surgery on Sept 13 th and I now weigh 273. I went thru the dreaded 2 week stall and gained 1 lb. If your using Dr Fernando Garcia your surgery will be at Florence Hospital. Bring very little. Gas X strips came in handy otherwise they give you slippers and Chapstick. I brought my IPad. The wifi works great at both the hospital and the Marriott. Make sure you have a lock on your luggage because while in surgery your luggage stays in your private room. Otherwise best of luck to you and keep us all posted.

  8. I had my sleeve 3 weeks ago tomorrow and I did great with the pre-op diet and the first 2 weeks after surgery I lost 39 lbs. However this week I haven't lost anything. I dont feel like I have screwed anything up but I don't know. I threw up last night after I ate for the first time since surgery but I felt so much better after I did. I think I had 1 to many bites. Has anyone else had a stall at 3 weeks post-op? Any suggestions or comments would be great. Thanks in advance.

  9. Don't worry' date=' I'm still reading the posts :) I still have not scheduled my surgery, waiting to save up the funds and I should be ready to go by January. Tim, how much did you pay for your surgery with Dr. Garcia?[/quote']

Hi, I also used Dr Fernando Garcia. I had my surgery on 9/13/13 and couldn't be any happier with the care from the entire staff. I paid $4700 total and that included 3 nights at the Marriott and 2 nights in the hospital. If your Bmi is over 50 or if they repair a hernia it is $500 additional. He is thru Ready 4 a Change. You won't be disappointed I promise. I have lost 40 lbs so far. Best of luck with your decision.

  10. Thanks for the responses guy I will go get some Vitamin c ..and im drinking my fluids hopefully all will go threw I have waited a long time for this...@ Pattie1966 how are you feeling after your surgery how is recovery?

I am feeling wonderful. Very tired but I'm back to work and expected. Cold is gone thank goodness. I'm down 40 lbs so far between pre-op diet for 2 weeks and surgery 2 weeks ago. So much more to go but I already feel the difference. Thanks for asking and I wish you all the best.

  11. I was sleeved in Mexico on 9/13 with Dr Fernando Garcia in Mexico. All my paperwork was in English and I knew going in if my Bmi was over 50 it would be an extra $500 and if I had a hernia it would be another $500. Well I had neither happen, thank goodness. Also I had a bad cough and cold when I got to Mexico and while I was in the hospital they gave me breathing treatments every 6 hours and they never charged me a penny extra for them. I figured I would get a huge bill for them but they sent me a statement saying I was paid in full.

  12. For those of you that posted that you got the surgery done in Mexico or outside of the states' date=' can you post a link of who you went through? How to get in touch with them, etc?[/quote']

I went through Ready 4 a Change in Mexico with Dr Fernando Garcia on 9/13. Just a week ago. I paid $4700 and airfare. I have lost 36 lbs thus far and could not be any happier with my decision. Good luck to you.

  13. What to bring?

Calling cell phone service AT&T to get on international package.

    Gas strips

    Neosporin

    Eye mask

    Tread sox

    They have Internet?

Does everyone bring a suitcase. I am traveling alone and worry about the lifting restrictions after surgery

Bring a pair of flip flops. Your not going to be able to get your tread socks on. Also I went alone and I brought my suitcase. It stays in your private room with the door locked while your in surgery. Put a good lock on it and you won't have any problems. They do have wifi. They give you a code to access it. If you call the operator they will connect you free of charge to anyone back home as often as you want. Good luck to you.

  14. Ok' date=' thanks, I will be sure to get a good lock for my suitcase then. How are you feeling?[/quote']

I'm feeling amazing. Have lost 34 lbs since Sept 1st when I started my pre-op diet. So happy that I did it. I never had any pain from anything, incisions, gas or shoulder pain. Dr Garcia and his team is amazing.
