This is my story and I'm sticking to it!

Congratulations Kimberly. You used the same Dr that I used on Sept 13, 2013. I also loved Dr Garcia and his team. I have lost 110 lbs thus far. Started at 313 lbs and as of this morning I'm at 203. 4 more lbs till onderland. I haven't been under 200 lbs since I was 18 years old and I'm 48 now. Best of luck on your journey. It's been an amazing ride.
  2. I live in St Charles, MO and I am going to Mexico for my sleeve because I am a self pay. I have great insurance but it doesn't cover anything weight related. I am so excited for this new journey to begin.
  3. I PASSED OUT 2 TIMES LAST NIGHT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE MY SURGERY. WHEN I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE HOSPITAL COVERED IN BLOOD FROM HITTING MY HEAD ON THE GARAGE FLOOR, MY BLOOD PRESSURE WAS 50/30 AND I WAS SEVERELY DEHYDRATED. I'VE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS UP UNTIL LAST NIGHT. I KNOW IM NOT GETTING IN ENOUGH PROTEIN BUT I SURE THOUGHT I WAS DRINKING ENOUGH. DEFIANTLY UPSET WITH MYSELF.

    STL sleeve scheduled 9/25

Congrats. I'm in St Charles too. I was sleeved Sept 13th in Mexico. I was self pay and couldn't afford to do it in the US. I've lost 65 pounds. Still have another 100 to go but it's been so easy. I found out yesterday that I'm no longer diabetic. That is awsome. Keep us posted on your progress. When you start feeling better and can work out get in touch with me. I really need a workout buddy.
  5. I was sleeved on 9/13/13. It was 2 months ago yesterday and I'm down 55 lbs. I've had a couple stalls, one at 3 weeks and another at 7 weeks but I pushed through them. Overall between the surgery and the recovery this has been so easy. I couldn't be any happier with my decision to do this for myself. I feel amazing already and have 95 lbs to go but I know I can do this. I've gone from 3x pants to 1x and 5x shirts to 2x. Next clothing I buy I hope it's not at a big girl store. I haven't been able to do that in years. I go for my second set of blood work at the end of the month and really hoping to be able to go off my cholesterol, blood pressure and sugar meds. That would be exciting. I would love to hear some other success stories around 2 months out. Please and thank you.

Has anyone done Mexico all alone?

I had my surgery on 9/13 in TJ Mexico by Dr Fernando Garcia with Ready 4 A Change. I flew from St Louis to San Diego. I never traveled alone before but I had NO problems at all. I was actually happy that I went alone. It was time to myself and I didn't have to worry about keeping someone entertained. There was never a moment that I needed anyone's help for anything. The trip home was good too. My biggest problem was that I was freezing on the plane. A nice lady next to me put her sweater over my arms and I fell asleep. Good luck with your decision. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

    My Sleeve Journey

Congratulations on your journey, you have done an amazing job. I had my sleeve done on 9/13-13 and have lot 45 lbs so far and it is so amazing how most of the body aches are gone already. Thank you for sharing your journey.
  8. Stay calm. I had my sleeve done 5 weeks ago and strange enough I wasn't NERVEOUS at all and everything was perfect. Your going to be in excellent hands in Mexico. Best of luck to you.

    Day before surgery and SICK!

I had surgery on 9/13 and had a bad cold and cough. They still did the sleeve but the coughing after sucked. Good luck and I hope you start feeling better.
  10. I went through Ready 4 A Change with Dr Fernando Garcia. It was all inclusive, 3 days at the Marriott and 2 days in Florence Hospital. The care was incredible. That also included all meds for after as well. I paid $4700. I believe it was a special at the time but worth checking into. My flight was $280 round trip from St Louis to San Diego and the driver picks you p and takes you across the border both directions. Good luck with your decision.

What to order at a bar

I go to a bar on the weekends and I order a pork kabob or the peel and eat shrimp. I have also had a few buffalo chicken wings. I'm 4 weeks out today and can only eat about 5 bites of anything before I start feeling sick but I keep getting that protein in. I also did a water with cherry vodka yesterday. It was so good.
  12. My Dr was so supportive. He is pretty young so I thought he was going to be against it. He sent me for blood work the day after I got back into town and I go again for blood work at te end of Nov. Not at all what I expected. Good luck o you.

I just have to make coment

I also went thru Ready 4A Change. Started pre op diet on Sept 1st at 313 lbs. Surgery on Sept 13 th and I now weigh 273. I went thru the dreaded 2 week stall and gained 1 lb. If your using Dr Fernando Garcia your surgery will be at Florence Hospital. Bring very little. Gas X strips came in handy otherwise they give you slippers and Chapstick. I brought my IPad. The wifi works great at both the hospital and the Marriott. Make sure you have a lock on your luggage because while in surgery your luggage stays in your private room. Otherwise best of luck to you and keep us all posted.
  14. I had my sleeve 3 weeks ago tomorrow and I did great with the pre-op diet and the first 2 weeks after surgery I lost 39 lbs. However this week I haven't lost anything. I dont feel like I have screwed anything up but I don't know. I threw up last night after I ate for the first time since surgery but I felt so much better after I did. I think I had 1 to many bites. Has anyone else had a stall at 3 weeks post-op? Any suggestions or comments would be great. Thanks in advance.
  15. I received my passport in 8 days. I did pay n extra $60 to expedite it though.
  16. I am also an admin assistant and I took a week and a half off. I've been back to work now for 2 weeks and it's going ok. I get exhausted throughout the day but it's ok.
  17. I am feeling wonderful. Very tired but I'm back to work and expected. Cold is gone thank goodness. I'm down 40 lbs so far between pre-op diet for 2 weeks and surgery 2 weeks ago. So much more to go but I already feel the difference. Thanks for asking and I wish you all the best.
  18. I had surgery on 9/13 in Mexico. I was on the Z PAC for a sinus infection and I had a cough. They still performed the surgery. They gave me breathing treatments every 6 hours for the 2 days I was in the hospital. As long as you don't run a fever you should be fine. Get better and good luck.

    October sleevers

Excellent choice. I was sleeved by him on 9/13 and couldn't be any happier. He was excellent.
  20. I was sleeved in Mexico on 9/13 with Dr Fernando Garcia in Mexico. All my paperwork was in English and I knew going in if my Bmi was over 50 it would be an extra $500 and if I had a hernia it would be another $500. Well I had neither happen, thank goodness. Also I had a bad cough and cold when I got to Mexico and while I was in the hospital they gave me breathing treatments every 6 hours and they never charged me a penny extra for them. I figured I would get a huge bill for them but they sent me a statement saying I was paid in full.
  21. Bring a pair of flip flops. Your not going to be able to get your tread socks on. Also I went alone and I brought my suitcase. It stays in your private room with the door locked while your in surgery. Put a good lock on it and you won't have any problems. They do have wifi. They give you a code to access it. If you call the operator they will connect you free of charge to anyone back home as often as you want. Good luck to you.
