Well, we are on the sleeve side of life! Surgery went well, so far no complications. Lots of painful gas... Which was to be expected. Had surgery in TJ, Mexico, performed by Dr. Almanza. Had the procedure yesterday, stayed overnight and back at the hotel today. Hotel is much more comfortable, but to call down to the nurse for pain meds, takes a while to receive. We are waiting on our masseuse to arrive. A free 20 min massage is included in the package! Helps with the gas pains. Ill keep y'all posted!

Last day of preop diet and senses are very hightened

Ok as of this morning..
Down 52 pounds!!!! Surgery was on May 22,2013.
Bmi was 35.2
And now it is 26.8!!!!
I am almost in the normal weight range!!!!! And very very happy!!!!!

My date is sept 2......

Yes I did mean aug 6.. Sorry.. I am considered a light weight and was so discouraged I stopped at 180.. For almost 2 wks now.. Thank u for the encouragement just like all my failed diets was going to give up and eat whatever I wanted.. Now getting back on track Ty...

Ok, I'll share this, but I know people may have strong opinions. I had a BMI of 30.9 pre op, but day of surgery was 29.0. I'm 5'2 (ish) and have lost 21 lbs since May 1st. So my BMI is around 27??? 28??? I was on the low end for qualifying for surgery BUT I've had a BMI of 36, (and as low as 23). I have gained and lost 300 lbs in less than 5 years, and over 500lbs in the past 8. I was TIRED of losing and gaining the same 60 lbs, so that's why I did this surgery.
Add on: I'm not really sure how long it will take me to get to goal weight, (I've got about 47lbs to go) but like most others, my bigger goal is to lose it, and keep it off FOREVER!!!

I get this too!! I can't sit for too long in the same position or my bum will hurt, when I am lying in bed I am constantly switching sides because my hip/thigh area starts to hurt. I also get bruises on the hip/thigh area, not sure if its from sleeping all night on one side or what.
We should try to look at this as a positive but it can be quite painful!

Laura-ven, granted I have only ever looked at your tiny square picture but I would have never guessed you over 30.

We are about to go have lunch together to discuss child care arrangements. She has two very active 5 & 6 years olds! My older two daughters are going to help out while we are gone! Our liquid diet starts Friday!!! We also start out medifast diet tomorrow. Today will be out last real food day!!! Lots of anxiety but really excited are you packed and ready to go? By the way I have a low BMI and so does Shannon. Mine is barely a 30 and hers is like a 34. I fear being judged for having this surgery but its my body and I'm short and stout and sick and tired of being sick and tired! Hope to see you there!

Hi Homersmonma! My best friend and I are scheduled September 2nd with Dr. Almanza! We are coming down from Slidell, LA on September 1st! Getting a little nervous!! How are you holding up?

Muscle does not weigh more than fat. A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. Muscle takes up less space and is more dense. You are burning fat and building muscle. I'm guessing if you are tracking your measurements you will notice bigger number results. Also your clothing will tell the tale.
Quit weighing yourself daily and try to break the mindset that a plateau or stall is a bad thing. Our bodies have a lot to adjust to with this surgery and subsequent deficiencies and weight loss.
As long as you are making good decisions fueling your body then your results will make themselves known.
In the mean time remember, you've traumatized your body with this surgery. Try not to second guess how it adapts to this trauma. Make good balanced choices and do a challenging yet safe exercise regiment and quit fighting nature.

What is normal? Today I reached 118.9 and 24.85 bmi...doing the happy dance

I am 6 months out from my surgery and I am down 94 lbs.!!!!!! I am completely AMAZED!!!!
