    I got a date!

    congratulations!!!
  6. I had the same question before my surgery. I discussed it with my surgeon who does not use the smaller sized bougies (32 and 34 F). According to my surgeon a 36 F bougie is in the middle and actually only millimeters larger than a 32 and 34 F size. 36 F is what I have. Like ThinnerDaysAhead said above, I too can only get in about 5 bites. Also here is some information I found during my Quest that might help with what you are asking. I know many people who have smaller size bougie and no issues whatsoever. Really a question best discussed with your own surgeon however. Sorry have not heard of a European sleeve. Very best of luck to you! http://www.foodtalk.com.au/contents/en-us/d72_gastric-sleeve-gastrectomy.html

    Coffee

I was sleeved on 8/27. Stopped coffee the day of surgery and just started drinking it again a couple weeks ago. No issues whatsoever. My NUT said no more than 8 - 16 ounces AND to drink equitable amount of extra water when I drink coffee.

    be honest

I was walking more during the first 3 weeks post op (very mild and easy walking). However I developed anemia which added to already present fatigue. So right now I am not exercising or taking walks. However I still losing weight at same rate as I was when walking. Avg weekly loss has been 3 - 4 lbs.

    August sleevers progress

Surgery 3 weeks ago today - down 19 lbs and moving to soft foods tomorrow. Question: Any of you August sleevers (3 - 4 weeks out) still having pain around incisions on your right side? It is strictly muscle wall pain - very, very sharp and painful when I get up from bed or chair, or even walking at brisk pace. Sometimes sharp stabbing in that same vicinity while doing nothing at all.

    Constipation

AmyInOrlando - how much Miralax do you take daily? Also how many doses each day and when do you take it/them? I am asking because years ago I used Miralax for constipation and it gave me really loose stools (very bad outcome in public setting). I want to try it again but just as stool softner - not a laxative. colace, metimucel, MOM - none work as stool softner. So I am thinking Miralax in the right dose should work for me. But I am confused about how much to take daily - I don't want a repeat of the loose stools from Hell. thanks for your help.

    Approval question

You insurance company should be able to fax a copy of the letter they sent out on the 11th. Ask for that because seeing it in writing is the only sure way to know it is approved by your insurance company. I had a similar "fiasco"..... so I got the letter faxed to me. Huge relief to know it was officially approved. then I called my ins coordinator and gave her a copy of the letter to; got to the bottom of the disconnect as well. Then called the surgery coordinator and got the ball rolling with pre-op and surgery scheduling. Only after that was I able to sleep! You might want to try this. Hope it goes well!
