    Question..?

I got to start soft boiled eggs at 7 days and yes I had one this am ! You have me by 2 weeks. I have a feeling some doctors are ultra paranoid about leaks and good reason, some aren't as experienced. My doctors office and hospital cover that for 90 days but can you imagine the cost? But my doc has been doing these surgeries for years and years so I trust them completely. Im on soft foods, cottage cheese, string cheese, yogurts, soft boiled eggs, cream soups.... and no, he does not do protein drinks, its liquid calories. I get to add deli meats, canned meats, beans and canned veggies next week or two. The only thing I can say about scrambled eggs is they are like hard boiled eggs, hard. Im sure a day wont matter.
  2. I have been in the same boat for years, then at the first of this year, my company in a cost saving measure, switched insurance and guess what? It covered it. They have not had it covered since 1986 and just got lucky or I would not have been able to do it. Things change. Situations change, life changes. Keep looking for that open door and be hopeful. It will happen. I never dreamed it would be available to me and with the obamacare acts going into effect, there are TONS of changes on the horizon. Be diligent and keep looking for the time
  3. I had food removal anxiety at first. Where your hurting, not feeling all that great first few days, food was my medicine and it was no there and no way to have it so you can really go through funk about it. I too am emotional eater and bordem eater. But I was regretting my surgery pretty big time and had a few self loath moments but...... this passes. I am today 8 days post op and haven't had those feelingst since 3rd day. Just remember you will have good food once again and your eating to heal at first, not eating to deprive yourself of never having food again. A lot have doctors that have them do protein drink big time, mine does not. I am not missing food right now really and feel pretty good. Just be prepared for wanting to comfort your anxiety with food and remember this passes!! I have Afib so anxiety is not good for me. Just try to keep it all in perspective, Your sleeve is a tool for weight loss. Its just a tool. And after the first few days to a week, you will feel and see some weight coming off, you will learn what its like to be full and hungry again. Its all new! And really, its pretty exciting time. YOU have control and for some of us, for the first time in our lives. You will do great! You will be healthy! You will be able to be so much more active and healthy, you will not have something like food controlling you!. When they say its a journey, it is exactly that, a great journey. Eat to live, not live to eat. Good luck you will do great!

    sleeved October 2nd

Im on my 6th day Post op. Guess what? I am 100% better than a few days ago when I was sooo regretting surgery. I have a place that still hurts and gets sore by the end of the day but I am sleeping, feeling pretty good now. And that's just 3 days! My diet is not they same as others. Im on cottage cheese, yogurt, string cheese, creamed soups (thank goodness for tomato soup) Tomorrow I get to add even more soft foods. My doctor and nutritionist at St. Marks are not big on protein drinks at all. (liquid calories) They want you on normal food so you can learn to eat right. And St. Marks has been doing bariatric surgeries for long long time. Im already feeling better. Need to get walking more now, they push walk walk walk. I think I will be even better next week. So with all that being said, Im feeling better and feeling more normal. Missing food a lot but looking forward to every new thing I get to eat. FIrst week was mostly surgery recoop and not having ability to soothe myself with food. I have that feeling atleast once daily but it passes and will get better with better sleep and ability to eat a bigger variety of foods. Every one on here is great support, so when they say it gets better, they are totally right!

  9. I was sleeved on the 30th Sept. I am really regretting this. I feel incapacitated due to incision pain and just over all feeling like crap. Emotionally feel like I have created a life long night mare for myself. More I read, more I wish I had not gone down this path. Just traded one set of problems for another. Really disappointed in the outcome so far, the pain I can deal with but holding my belly just to go to the bathroom? I mean I really can't go to the store doing that. So down right now....
  10. Thanks everyone. I have major surgerys, never felt this way before. Its all encompassing. I thought I knew what to expect I didn't. Learning to feel full, I know I am going to hate some of the foods Im on after this lol. My doctor has clear fluids for few days, Now on soft foods and can add others at 2 to 3 weeks as needed. They don't want us on protein drinks or soups and the like. Liquid calories. I am loosing 2 lbs a day now which is shocking. This was a health decision not with wt loss not a wt loss for how I look. I want to thank all of you for responding. I am sure I will have more ups and downs, thanks goodness I have someone to talk to about it.
  11. Thanks for all the support. Been way rough time.
  12. I know it is hard, I thought I was mentally prepared but I obvkously wasn't. Im not a baby or have low pain threshold, quite the opposite. Thanks for your thoughts. Can't imagine feeing any worse that I do.
  13. I have 5 that are all above my belly button. Middle one is killing me. It getting pulled by my belly weight. Any ideas?
  14. Went and got some ACE bandages and bound them. SOOO Much improvement. That is my only complaint so far. Hope it keeps going smooth. Good luck to you guys!
  15. I know it illegal but I also know pot stimulates appetite. Friend of mine good portion of his large intestines remove due disease. After loading significant weight, this was the only thing that turned that around . He would have died without it.
  16. IM on my side sleeping 14 hours out
  17. Well, my experience so far. Going in was a little scary, but that was expected Everyone was great, no warning of going under, which was cool. Woke up disoriented and in pain. More I came too, better it got. I have on air booties, oxygen and iv. Have morphine pump and nothing hurts but incisions. Drinking water, can burp easily and cough, no pain. My surgery was 2plus hours later than it was suppose to be. 330pm going in and took half hour is all. IM able to get up with help and feeling little weak. I know this will alll get better quickly, has so far. And I am GLAD I didn't back out. My shoulders hurt from the gas, feels like I layed wrong but but no biggie. So I feel pretty good for surgery 12 hours out. I am going to volunteer my time for anyone in this area, Utah, that would have to go alone get to and from alone and just be there for them before and after surgery. Please consider this your own areas. There are slot going through these things alone and should not have to. Much love to you all. Vicki
