My doctors diet was slim fast or the like in am, noon and lean cuisine at night for 10 days. Not much like a diet but it worked I guess... im sleeved. High fat/calorie diet makes for one big liver. They have to move it out of the way and in some folks its 3 times normal size. That's why the bigger you are, the more risky the surgery. Liver bleeds easy when nicked and can be hard to stop so they don't want to hurt it in anyway. My doc said if he got in there and it was too big, he would not go further. One of the reasons I passed on gallbladder removal. That and 25% of all who have it removed have the runs for life. Funny how sooo many doctors have soo many instructions. With mine, we don't do Protein drinks, all from food, Im already doing solids although its about 6 table spoon then it just makes you feel icky, full, bloated, which is good for me. I loved food. Food is not nearly as interesting anymore Now what can I removed to make me not want to go to the casinos....lol buffaloooooooooooo lol

My quality of life has already improved. More energy. Not out of breath all the time. I can fit in airline seat..... And im only 3.5 weeks out. Happens that fast.... Im not missing food much these days. To eat out and have 6 bites and be pretty full to the point not feeling well. Some time just eat to take off the egde of amd hunger. Actually race my 6 year old grandson to the car..... Could not have do that 4 weeks ago. so quality of life? oh hell yes. Ill take this anyday -

kvdme replied to elyssa20's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got letter 10 days after and it took 2 weeks for surgeon's office to call to schedules -
Went back to work last Monday, got told had company trip and needed to reschedule, called and they tell me it 6 weeks out to new appt. So IM 3 weeks out, plus 6 weeks = BS. Anyone else have to wait 9 weeks? Do not go to rocky mountain save. Physicians... They treat you like they could careless.

246 to 230

This is why some put on weight to get up to the magic BMI number of 40. No co morbid required. All you can do is appeal with a strongly worded letter from your PCP and surgeon that states neither condition can be addressed or has responded to treatment.

One week from the day they called to schedules but I was given up to 2 months out if I chose. I just chose the earliest date.

I quit loosing 1 week after surgery also. 3 weeks tomorrow and I have increased walking and riding my bike and cardio every day. Not one budge on the scale. I think I wasted 15Gs....

Pre op diet to to shrink your liver, not much more. If you loose wt great, if not no worries its not to drop tons of weight. You WILL loose after surgery. Any time you deprive your body of food, it want to hold on to its reserves, just takes time for your body to adjust. Dont sweat it.

Whats it like being under and waking up from surgery?
kvdme replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a 4 hour surgery and had a tear running down my cheek from fear and 4 hours later was still in that emotional mindset and still tearing up even though that time had passed. I liken it to being frozen in time till you come out of it somewhat the it's groggy heavy sleep feeling. This time no warning of going out. I've had worse surgeries and this one only rated a 4 on the intensity scale -
Get a binder!! It's a life saver big time!

Stressed out scared and crying a lot help me please
kvdme replied to FrankieP83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Truth is, you will eat all the foods you love really soon, chances are so slim for a leak you chances of getting hit by bus are about the same. You stomach was outstretched for years. They removed 80% of a flaccid, over stretched, hormone causing, fat gathering, life threatening problem. As I get further along, three weeks nex monday, I know I can live better, healthier and happier. Fat discrimination is horrible, we have all lived with it. Your choice was for all this. Your now eating to live, not living to eat, your stomach can't control you any more!! If not eating things you love bothers you, I myself am a comfort eater, taste those foods, chew it well, spit it out, helps with not feeling deprived. -
