  1. Visit with my primary care doctor and upper GI study this a.m.! My stomach is emptying too fast causing symptoms similar to dumping syndrome. I have also gone from being an insulin dependent diabetic prior to surgery to being hypoglycemic after, so blood glucose is staying very low and ANY food intake is causing a sudden and rapid increase in glucose levels. My surgeon had me eating 3 meals a day with 3oz Protein, 3 tbsp starch, and 3 tbsp veggies which was tough to get down. I have been instructed to have 6 mini meals a day with 2 oz protein, 2 tbsp starch, and 2 tbsp veggies. I started this at lunch today and already feel a little better. Nausea has subsided for now........hoping this does the trick!
  2. I am just over 7 weeks post op and have started having similar problems. I have had problems drinking Water since the surgery which is awful because I loved water! I can drink thicker liquids....protein shakes, smoothies, coffee with creamer....and tolerate all well, but water has always been really bad! Then a few days ago I started getting that same terrible feeling with anything I swallow. It's not painful, I just feel nausea all the time. Saltines with Peanut Butter settle it for a bit, but it comes right back! I too experience dizziness, racing pulse, sweating, and just a terrible feeling after eating or drinking anything with sugar or higher carb content such as fruit. I made the mistake of drinking a Protein shake one day that was not sugar free and thought I was going to pass out. I have only been eating saltines and decaf coffee for about 3 or 4 days, so naturally my weight loss has stalled! Seeing my primary care dr. tomorrow for her advice.
  3. I am only 6 weeks post and I have noticed changes in not only my marriage, but in relationships with my friends and family as well. My husband is only around 30 to 40 lbs overweight, but he is becoming more insecure by the day which is causing some differences in his behavior towards me. It's not putting a strain on our relationship YET, but I'm afraid it may in the future. My big relationship issue right now is with overweight friends and family. There is definite tension when my weight loss is mentioned. I don't feel any differently toward them, so why should they feel differently toward me? I actually had a relative say to me, "Don't expect us to lose weight just because you are!" I'm not sure how to process it all so soon after surgery.
