I lost 15# in the two weeks after my surgery. Then I stalled. Well now I have lost another 30# in the last month. Everyone is different. Follow the program and it will eventually fall off.

hair loss is a result of not getting enough of your daily Protein requirements and is reversible. This usually occurs in the first few months post-op after consistently eating too low a protein count. Are you getting at least 60-80 grams of protein a day? Once you up your levels, the hair loss will slow done and stop. You can also take Biotin as a Vitamin supplement to help slow hair loss.

You will get lots of advice and support, I know! At first blush, it sounds to me like you need to drink another shake a day and then FLOOD yourself with Water. Supposedly the body gets stubborn and holds on to weight if you starve it AND burned fat supposedly needs a lot of Water to get carried out of your system. GOOD LUCK!!! I seriously bet your body is about to release some weight .
Edited to say: You may want to pick up some Keto-stix (ketosis test strips) at Walmart or wherever (diabetic section) so you can make sure you are in/ stay in ketosis since I know that's what really gets the glycogen stores out of your liver.

Don't forget ladies, put menstrual cycle can affect our weight as well. I only weigh myself once a week to avoid the heartache. Remember, we are doing this to be healthy and not to rely on what the scale tells us to determine our happiness. I've hit a few stalls and try to stay positive about it. The weight will come off, just keep doing what you're doing. Focus on health!!

3 years ago i would sleep til 10:00 am!!!
didn't see that much reason to get up
nothing special to do, or just didn't want to go out

I lost 18lbs on pre-op diet, then lost 30lbs my first month, but it has definitely slowed down. I did get a personal trainer and I do hit the gym 4x a week. I've also been able to get in between 90 and 100 grams of Protein daily, as well as 96 oz of Water. I stalled for about 6 days (2x) but it broke with each time with a significant loss.
Keep at it people when was the last time, we loss weight without being hungry or killing ourselves in the process. I feel great even though I'm eating much less..who knew..I was always hungry, cranky or grumpy when I tried to lose weight before.

I am 65, wife is a kid of 62, these operations and using our heads with food and exercise took decades off of how we feel and put many years on to our lifespans, I am sure.
We are having a ball...we went from near stop to ludicrous speed! Yeehaw!

You are so right. The problem is I literally can't find before pictures of myself. The few that I have I have strategically placed other people in front of me blocking everything but a sliver of my face. I made it a whole art form to avoid taking pictures of myself. I see some people here who actually took pictures of themselves literally right before surgery. I wish I had thought of that. I guess I was so preoccupied with the surgery it didn't even occur to me.

I lost 15 pounds my 1st 2 weeks after surgery, and will learn more Wednesday when I weigh in at the NUT's office. If watching your weight is driving you crazy, maybe you should take a break from the scale for a while. A lot of people take measurements because if you don't see the weight coming off, you may see the inches coming off. I am going on how my clothes fit. (A lot better right now!) Not having a scale in my house is helping save my sanity.

Lost 18 pounds the first month. I was in a stall for over two weeks.. My scale finally moved 2 more pounds.. Hurray. Ps increased my food intake and it worked. That is 30 pounds pre and post op.

In regards to that dreaded stall...at exactly 3 weeks I entered the stall...it finally broke 11 days later. I have read that it can last from just a few days , and I have read someone who is on day 20 and still stalled.
Despite the fact it is frustrating, just know that it WILL end and you will see that scale move!

Don't be discouraged if you have stalled. I stalled for 14 days (during weeks 2 & 3) but the weight is coming off again!! It is just your body trying to protect you from possible starvation/dehydration. Be kind to it. xoxo to all.

Dear Heart, health and happiness are not going to come knocking on your front door with a basket of daisies. You want them.....so you get out there gurl and go after them!!!!! You will be so glad you did. When I was down and out in an abusive marriage years ago, my daughter encouraged me to get away and go back to college, at he age of 54. One thing she said to me would circle around in my head over and over. It's the quote from Wolfgang von Goethe on my signature here. "Whatever you can do, or dream you can........BEGIN IT....for boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."
That quote gave me the resolve to escape at 2:00 in the morning, go to a women's shelter, get a restraining order and a divorce, move 250 miles away and go back to school for my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. So you get up tomorrow and go to your appointment with your head held high. You deserve good health as much as anybody else.
Now, about those groceries. You march right in that grocery store and pick up what you need. Let Karma take care of anyone who looks judgemental.
Walmart and Sam's sell Protein drinks cheaper than the places on line.
It is easier to eat 10 potato chips than 10 boiled eggs. That is why we need to eat our Protein first. We get far more nutritional bang for our buck.
Good luck with your weight loss journey. There are many of us over 50. This surgery has saved our lives.
