  1. I'm sure that the experience is different for everyone, but for me, it took a good 4-5 weeks for me to feel fully back to myself. With that being said, I went back to work after 2 weeks off. That was probably a week or 2 too early in retrospect. I was wiped out exhausted. It will take a couple more weeks, but you will get there! Are you doing b12 injections or anything? Those really helped me with the energy level. Still do, actually.....

    Valentine's Challenge

I know it's not a weigh in today, but I was so surprised this morning to see I hit my Valentines Challenge today, a few days early!! :-)

    Wow - this sucks

I definitely agree that I did not feel like anyone could have prepared me for what those first 2 weeks were like. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. But I can honestly tell you that it DOES get better, and I have never once (after I got through those first 2-3 weeks) regretted my decision. But during that time, it is hard. Mine wasn't hard as much physically as it was emotionally.

    wish you got lap band?

Nope. That thought has never even crossed my mind. The only thing I've regretted about my choice to have the sleeve is that I didn't do it about 10 years earlier.

    PROTEIN....

Premier Protein is my favorite. There are also other options that I use sometimes that are not traditional Protein shakes. BariatricChoice.com has a lot of protein products that I used early on. I really liked the protein puddings. They were easy to get down and didn't taste any different. I also like the protein hot chocolate. They are good for these cold days!

    Shrimp?

Shrimp is also one of my go-to foods. It's easy to make just for me (if my family is having something I won't eat), it's very few calories and lots of Protein. I didn't eat it until probably 3 months out. It seemed kind of "tough" in consistency. But I would say like everything else, just chew, chew, chew.

    6 months post-op

I was sleeved 9/12, so a little after you. But to answer your question, I track everything on MFP and average about 500/day. I still feel a lot of restriction, particularly with trying to get all my Water in.

    *September Sleevers Check In*

Hi all - checking in here. Sleeved 9/12, so getting close to 5 months. A lot of days I still feel a lot of restriction. Getting enough Protein in after I've drank all the Water I am supposed to drink is a challenge some days. I just don't feel like there is a whole lot of room left for food..... I'm averaging about 400-550 calories per day. I started working out about 3 weeks ago (around 4 months post op) and it has made a huge difference in how I feel. It's also helped break through my one "real" stall that I had. hair loss is crazy and out of control....lol. I'm really hoping it stops soon. Thank goodness I had very thick hair to begin with. So other than that, I'm down 86 pounds and getting close to that 100 lost mark. :-)

    St. Patrick's Day Challenge

This is perfect!! I was setting a goal for myself for that week anyway because that will be my 6-month anniversary. I'm really hoping to hit 100 pounds lost by the end of that week. I'm IN!!! :-)

    Valentine's Challenge

Weighing in for the week Starting weight: 205 Current weight: 195 Goal weight: 190 5 more pounds to go! Hoping I can pull it off in 2 weeks!! :-)
  13. mine is themeiamnow.blogspot.com. I had my surgery in Sept, but I started my blog right before/after (I can't remember...lol) my very first doc visit, so I've been trying to document the whole process from 9 months pre-op to now, 4.5 months post op.
  14. I'm 4.5 months post op and still struggle with this almost daily. Shopping is tough. You would think it would be awesome, but I have to argue with myself that I don't fit in the 20s anymore, to go for the 12s. And then when they fit, my mind is blown. Another hard thing is taking my pics. I do comparison pics every month and it is the hardest thing in the world. I'm always terrified that it will be "that month" that I'm "found out" and I will see that I really am still 85 pounds heavier. It's so messed up....lol....

Did you keep it a secret?

I have chosen some close friends to tell, and my family knows. I have only told one person at work - who I consider a friend outside of work - and I do not plan on telling anyone else at work particularly. There are lots of reasons for this....but the biggest one is that I did this for my health, and my health/medical history is really no one's business.

    Working out!

I didn't start until last week (4.5 months post op). But I have to tell you that is my only regret! I feel so amazing when I get to the gym regularly. It has made a huge difference in my morale if nothing else, but it has also kickstarted my weight loss out of a stall. You're so soon after surgery though. Be sure to take it easy and listen to your body.
  17. There are tons of options out there like others have posted. One thing that I love is the BariWise hot chocolate. It is my "treat" on these cold days. And it has only 2 carbs and 15g of Protein. :-)
  18. Mine started lightly around 2.5 months. I thought, ok, this is not bad. Kind of like after having a baby. But then between 3.5-4 months it started falling out fast and furious. I have/had thick curly hair so I don't think it's too noticeable, but I can DEFINITELY tell myself and mostly around the top and hairline. I am HOPING that it stops or at least slows soon and the regrowth helps. I hate even washing it because it freaks me out the amount of hair in my fingers after I am done.
  19. Good job! I can see a huge change!
  20. So I totally hate taking my monthly progress pics. I don't know why. You would think I would look forward to it. I think I just worry that I won't see any progress and sabotage myself. Anyway..... I took some tonight. I've been wearing the same clothes each time, but I had to wear a different shirt this time because the original one hung off me. SO..... 77.4 pounds later, 55 more to go, here I am at 4 months post op.

    4 Months Post Op Pics

Congrats on your upcoming surgery!! I'm sure that you are going to do awesome! Just do what you know you are supposed to be doing after surgery as far as food and exercise and it will all fall into place! I'm so glad I could help. You should check out my blog sometime too. I started blogging at the very beginning of my 9-month pre-op process all the way to now, so it might help you have an idea of what to expect....the good, the GREAT, and the ugly. :-)

  24. So I started this week training for a 5K and I have been running everyday. I'm SO sore. Like it hurts to walk kind of sore. I'm wondering if this is normal (I haven't exercised in probably 13 years) or if perhaps running everyday is too high impact and I should switch to every other day and do something else in the off days like cycling or a group class or something. What do you all think? What are your exercise routines like?
