  1. Has anyone else had a banded gastric sleeve? There are lots of folks who have the regular Sleeve, but i don't know of anyone, (but one person who went to the same Dr as me" who has had this addition to the gastric sleeve. if so, what have your experiences been? In case you do not know what a banded Gastric Sleeve is, it is a Gastric Sleeve with a small band placed about mid way down on your sleeve to create a smaller pouch, so instead of 6 to 8 ounces, you have abut a 4 ounce pouch...It is sewn in so it does not slip down or move.
  2. Pookeyism, thank you, I actually just today looked into joining the local YMCA or Sports Center because they both have indoor/outdoor pools... I figure if i can do that until most of the weight comes off, i can tackle the foot problem if losing the weight does not fix it. I also called the Dr a while ago to see if i could use the machines and he told me to go easy to start then i should be good in a few weeks to increase, as long as i'm doing something to exercise, he will be satisfied he also suggested i try a stationary bike since that will not put pressure on my feet..

    Biotin for hair loss

i take 5000 MCG a day of Biotin, a multivitamin, calcium and Vitamin D... started pre op... i'm 4 weeks post op and hope i dont loose hair... making sure i get my protein before anything else... i dont want to loose hair again... Chemo was enough for me!
  4. Mokee... He does offer it to further restrict your intake, but he actually only offers it to patients he believes will follow his plan like they should. Marfar 7... Ive already had the surgery and I opted for the band... i can hold about 2 to 3 ounces at a time depending on what i eat. I am 4 weeks post op and was just wondering if anybody else had done it besides his patients. I've had no issues, but i follow his directions to a T...with the exception of exercise... i have foot issues and feel like i am a slacker on that because i just dont have time to do more than walk for 10 or 15 minutes several times a day and it just hurts to do so. I hope loosing the weight will help the feet! .
  5. follow your doctors guidelines. Mine only allowed Fruits(pureed) after the 4th week post op. But i;'m like Catherine707.. i was never so happy to have a scrambled egg!
  6. I am 6 days post op and I end the day with a sore throat. I do not start out with one and I had only a slight one the day after my surgery. I'm not sure if its from the liquid diet, but can't imagine that only liquids will give me a sore throat. Has anyone else experienced this?
  7. Ha, funny but that would be so simple wouldn't it... It may very well be... Now I feel stupid...

    August 2013 Roll Call

My dr has not said I can do pudding or cream soups... I hope I get that approval on Wednesday. If not... I'll be in a real bad mood!. I can say, and this is very gross, but I have chewed a few things... Chewed and spit it back out no swallowing.. Then rinsed my mouth really well.. Sometimes you just need to chew something and gum didn't work.. I am going to try the kook aid favors.. I hope they help

    August 2013 Roll Call

Ladybug, the liquid has been the hardest part for me. You literally have to sip all day.. I'm not getting all mine in either, but I'm getting enough.. The other thing is the variety of liquid... I'm tired of water, shakes and broth... I like the jello, so it helps, but I can't wait for soft foods...

    Had mine August 7th...
  14. Why go through everything you have gone through at this point just for the one thing that put you in the situation to start with? I am 6 days post op and would love to have a salad, but I know my stomach has gone through a MAJOR surgery and cannot handle it! Listen to your doctor, you went to him to help you and if your going to just do what you want anyway, why even bother... You are setting yourself for failure....
